Joe, Jeff, Galen, Ned and the entire Satch crew:

I simply do not have the words to tell you all how utterly fantastic it was meeting you and hanging with you in NYC last night. Never in my wildest fantasies could I have imagined a scenario where you would all end up in MY HANGOUT, at MY "HOUSE". I hope you all had as much fun as I did.

Joe, I apologize if I sounded like a blithering idiot, but hopefully you understand what an indescribable honor it was to finally meet you, shake your hand and spend some time with you. I wish you, Rubina, ZZ and your entire family the very best wishes this holiday season.

Jeff, PLEASE MAKE SURE you email when when you can. I am very much looking forward to getting that Town Hall bootleg to you as well as the audio from the SBM Webcast. Please, please stay in touch!

Mike Manning you are a prince! Good luck in Florida on your search....

To all of you, thanks so much for everything, including the picks!

You have all brought X-Mas to me early this year.

Warmest wishes and Happy New Year! - henry

Joe's music during pro football broadcasts...

Anyone else notice how POPULAR Joe is with the various networks during sporting events??? This weekend alone, on both FOX and CBS, snippets of some classic Satch stuff was either playing in the background during voiceovers or highlight reels. Definitely heard "One Big Rush", "Strange" and "Super Colossal". Anyone else notice?

On top of the networks, Joe seems to be very popular with the audio guys at the stadiums too. I definitely heard "Crowd Chant" during the Patriot/Charger game.

I have noticed that Joe is seems to be a huge favorite with the network sports guys - going on for many years, everything from football, baseball, tennis and even the Olympics!

Questions: - Does Joe get any rolyalties when they play snippets of his stuff? - Is Joe even aware of how popular his music is on these sports broadcasts?

peace! -mariusar

Hey Satch-fans!

Thought folks might be interested to hear that Satch music has been used at the Beijing Olympics! I have been able to catch snippets of a few Satch songs used at a couple of venues in Beijing - caught em on NBC TV broadcasts....Again, they were played at the venue and not broadcast specifically by NBC.

- Starry Night [in the boxing venue, during 8/19/2008 broadcast on Universal HD channel]; - Super Colossal [in the Water Cube swimming venue during the NBC broadcast of the men's 3m springboard final]; - Summer Song [in the beach volleyball venue, during a ladies beach volleyball match].

This brings me to a question: Satch stuff has been a favorite of sports broadcasters for years [CBS, NBC, FOX football, baseball and many other sports broadcasts]. In these cases, the production team uses Satch material as background during highlights or interviews [or whatever].

Does Joe get any royalties at all from these uses?

I am guessing that any songs used in sporting venues during the events themselves don't pay royalties to the original artists. Or do they? If yes, how is this controlled?

re: the network broadcast usage of Satch songs, whether he gets any royalties or not is not the really issue for me [but may be for Joe!]. I simply think it is extremely cool that the audio people for the networks have so many Satch fans working among the production. And this has been the case for many years!

Cheers! -mariusar
