Hey, has anyone seen that Gary Moore has a new DVD out? It's on my Christmas list.

So is the new DVD by the Allman Brothers. Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes...now there's a guitar duo to be watched. Derek's a phenominal slide player and Warren, well he's Warren isn't he? The Allman Brothers continue to demonstrate why they're the godfathers of jam bands.

Y'know, Derek Trucks might not be a bad addition to G3 also. Hmmm...

PhryDom: Sure it makes it ok. We are after all humans...omnivorous creatures. To be anything else is to deny our true humanity.

Joe: Thanks for stopping by T2J, good to see ya. And...thanks for signing my black JS1000 in Pensacola. I'm sending it to Ibanez to get it officially clear coated so Steve's and your names don't wear off. Thanks again.

Anyone: I know it's been answered in here before but what was the song Steve performed on the triple neck? I think it should be included on the DVD. Don't you?

On the subject of Epiphone Les Pauls, did you know they have a LP Studio Gothic with a Floyd Rose? Sweet.

Ok, the real reason for this message: Support the Arts this holiday season and buy (yes, buy. No file sharing!) Santamental by Steve Lukather. He has a great guest list on this including Eddie Van Halen on 3 songs and Steve Vai on 2. I'll admit I haven't heard it yet but with those players, how can you go wrong?

How about Jeff Beck for the next G3?

Ok. I did it. I just bought (as in shelled out my hard earned bucks for, not downloaded) Santamental by Steve Lukather. I have to say it's obvious that it's a labor of love. What a fantastic collection. Luke covers many different styles and does them all well. The guest artists are simply amazing. Eddie Van Halen shreds his ass off as usual and Steve Vai...well, he's Steve. Enough said. Slash does an excellent job and Edgar Winter is still one of the best sax players on the planet. This album is well worth the money and I advise everyone to pick it up. (i.e. purchase!) If anyone's interested, he has a www.santamental.com website.

The Prez: I agree, the next VH album should be instrumental. I'm sure they could handle it. I also agree with number 1 on your list of overrated guitarists. Granted Kurt Cobain was a very influential songwriter and help in no small way to create the grunge movement. IMHO he was not that accomplished a guitarist and should not be listed among the top ahead of such luminaries as Jeff Beck and even youngsters like Johny Lang. I cringe every time I see him on the cover of a guitar mag. Hit Parader, yes. Rolling Stone, yes. Guitar Player or Guitar World, no. Sorry, just had to vent. lol But that's just my opinion, obviously other people have their own.

Do The Stu: That's great news about the G3 stuff being double DVD and CD. I'll have my money set aside.

guitargurl: Thought you might like to know my JS1000 is on its way to PA to get clear coated to seal in Joe and Steve's autographs. It was really good meeting you and acerbicaxeman at the show. Are you and he playing out anywhere? I'd love to come see you if you are.

SOTD: Joy to the World performed by Steve Lukather with special guest Eddie Van Halen

The Prez: I have 220 and some other Phil Keaggy albums. Warm as Tears is a great song. I'm a fan of Stomp. Have you heard On The Fly? He was so inspired by the Parker Fly Deluxe that he based an entire album around it. Great stuff.

962: I was listening to Santamental this morning on my way to work and just got chills at some of the parts. Get it and listen to it LOUD!!! :D

By the way, are any of you Phil Keaggy fans aware that he plays on two tracks on the new P.O.D. album? Yep. He's on the songs Revolution and Eternal. Just thought I might share that.

Watched the Satch Tapes last night...jeez, it was funny seeing the guys with long hair. I got so used to shorter because i'm trying to wear out my LISF DVD. Good stuff though, especially the interviews. (Nigel Tufnel's my hero. Where can I get one of his "infinity" amps?)

crushingday62: I prefer DVD because of the quality of sound and picture over VHS. I haven't seen the tape but I assume from what I have read it's the same thing. Although, the DVD does have chapter selections for jumping around quicker to find a particular place.

Can anyone remember when Michael Jackson actually used to be a talented musical artist? It's been years, hasn't it? Now he's just a pathetic curiosity. I really wish the news outlets would give it a rest. He's not worth it. He is however, worth the jokes. Acne and MJ. That's a good one.

Favorite Vai song: (at the moment) Opposites Attract Part 2 (The Indulgent Version) Damn, he can wail.

SOTD: Gotta be Slick. I hadn't heard it before but now I'm wearing it out.

Anyone checked out Guitar World's 75 essential guitar DVDs? Steve's live DVD is on there and hasn't been released yet. You just gotta love it when future work is listed as essential.

SOTD: Why - I totally forgot about that one until the Anthology. Man, I just love those layered harmonies.

Joe: Good to see your post. I know you have to be having a great time mixing the G3 stuff.

Greg M: Vai is an American? And all this time I thought he was a Californian. LOL

fused9: The greatest drummer of all time would have to be Buddy Rich. All of the great drummers of today idolize the man. My personal favorites include Jeff Campitelli (of course), Neil Peart, Bill Bruford, Terry Bozzio just to name a few.

Picks? I like the Dunlop Tortex .88mm with the sharp point. Great attack.

SOTD has to be The Traveler. I just listened to it again and it moved me all over again just like the first time.

Hmmm, let's see...my 5 favorites. That's a tough one.

1. Allan Holdsworth 2. Joe 3. Steve Vai 4. Steve Hackett 5. Jeff Beck

There's so many more than 5 though. I can't forget Richie Blackmore, Derek Trucks, Duane Allman, Steve Lukather and so on.

jellyman: You should hear Eric Johnson's Alien Love Secrets. Great live improvisation there.

I got the SBM book the other day. Now Starry Night and The Traveler are on my Learn Next list.

JS JS: There's a link on Yngwie's website to some G3 tour pics. There's a lot of pics on there of Steve and the triple neck.

I sure hope the triple neck stuff is on the G3 DVD. I like the new Vai Live at the Astoria DVD but sure wish he did the triple on there.

Do The Stu: You're 20? I would not have thought it. Your postings show a maturity way beyond your years. That's a complement by the way. Take it from a 50 year old. lol

Well, has anyone seen the new DiMarzio ad in the latest Guitar World? It says, and I quote: "Hear Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Yngwie Malmsteen on the new G3 CD and DVD." That sure makes it sound like it's out already doesn't it? They even make it sound like Yngwie's "Attack" CD is released too, although it isn't due out until January 13th. I guess that just goes to show that you can't believe everything you see in a guitar mag ad.

jazzer13: I use a CryBaby and a Vox depending on the guitar I use. The Vox has a bit richer tone in the midrange than the CryBaby. If you're using a lot of distortion I think you're going to get a bit of noise anyway but I haven't noticed too much with my Vox. Try one and see. Of all the wah pedals I've tried (and that's a lot) these two satisfy me the best tone-wise. By the way, if you want more high end in your wah effect, the Bad Horsie is a good one.

I really need to try out the Snarling Dogs Whine-O Wah. That's the one Jeff Beck used on his latest CD and he has fantastic tone. Check that one out too if you can.

Hi all, I haven't posted in a while. Been busy getting ready for a move to the UK. Nothing like getting some new musical experiences in another country. It's gonna be fun.

The best thing to happen to me is I finally got my JS1000 back from Ibanez. I sent it for clear coat to seal in Messurs Satriani and Vai's signatures I got from the G3 concert in Pensacola. It's too great a guitar to just hang on the wall and look at, so now I can use it and not mess up the autographs. Ibanez did a great job and the guitar looks like it was bought like that. Joe, I know you were a bit worried about signing it where you did but now it's perfect. I'll send a pic to your webmaster so you can see for yourself.

Have fun everyone and wish me luck in jolly old England.

Well I'm all upset. I just moved from the US the rural UK and can't find the new album anywhere. I guess I'll have to make the long trip to London to find it. I should never have left.

Hi y'all. I haven't posted in a while cause I was moving from sunny Florida to rainy England. (don't even ask) I actually found a copy of the new album over here and am loving it several times a day. Is it my imagination or is there even more whammy pedal than on other releases? I hope to be doing a little writing. Maybe there will be inspiration over here.
Just gotta say, on an upcoming trip back home I'm picking up my new JS1200 I have on order. Woo Hoo!!!! I can't wait. I can't play my JS1000 in public anymore cause I had it autographed by Messrs Satriani and Vai at the G3 in Pensacola. So obviously I need a new one, right?

Michelle: Well, since you ask, it's that job thing. I much prefer Florida but hey, I may get to go see G3 with Robert Fripp, you never know.

TheBob: The way I hook my guitar up to my computer is with the Line 6 Guitar Port. It hooks through the USB port and the modeling software allows me to get the same tone I get through my amp. Plus it has almost any effect I need to record with.

anibur: I don't have Virgin broadband, I have ntl and am quite pleased with it. Of course if you have BT it would mean a new installation. I got ntl for everything when I moved here. To put it in a nutshell, you can't go wrong with broadband, no matter who offers it.

Song of the day: If I Could Fly - it's just so happy sounding it's a great way to start the day.

The fye store at the mall had the CD on the shelf a day early. It is as good as the previews had me believe. I believe the world is now a better place now that the public has access to it. :-)
