Joe, I saw you at the Vic in Chicago and thought the setlist was pretty much perfect. I don't know of any other artists that vary their set as much as you do, probably because they don't have enough good stuff. There's lots more I'd like to hear, but it would take a lot longer than you could probably endure in a single concert. I do hope to hear more SBF in future concerts, especially Belly Dancer and Chords of Life.

I would however love to see you with Vinnie Moore in G3. Is there anyone else on the site that would be in favor of this? Remember, Joe added Time Machine due to requests.

Happy New Year - Jack

Joe

Please consider Vinnie Moore for your next G3 tour. To anybody else reading, what do you think?

Jack

Fusion 5000 - Can you recommend another Chastain album? I have 'Within the Heat' which is incredible. I've purchased a couple of others and haven't been as impressed.

Fusion 5000 - Thanks for the tips. I've got all the other stuff you mentioned except for the two Chastain titles which I'll check out soon. If you haven't heard Vinnie Moore in a while, you might want to check out some of his stuff. He's the only other musician with a permanent spot in my disc changer besides Joe. I'd recommend Out of Nowhere (my favorite at the moment).

Fusion 5000 - I've got the Tafolla album somewhere. I agree it's very good, but never purchased anything else by him. When I get some time I plan on making Chastain - 'Instrumental variations' my next purchase based on your previous recommendation.

962 - Simon, Thanks for the Igor Belsky tip. I listened to one clip and was sold. I'd recommend others give it a listen as well.

962 -It was Space Marathon, though I listened to the rest of the tracks and liked them as well. I should be receiving my copy next week.

Zincmaster - I'm with you on Vinnie Moore, he's one of my favorites. If you haven't heard 'Point of No Return', give it a listen, it's one of my favorites. In fact, I think his last 3 studio albums are absolutely incredible. He's now playing with UFO, with Jason Bonham on drums, and they're sounding great too. I'd also like to hear Igor Belski in G3, but I'm not sure he's got the name Joe would be looking for.

Zincmaster - I need to correct my previous post regarding Vinnie Moore. The disc I was referring to is titled 'Out of Nowhere', followed by 'The Maxe' and 'Defying Gravity'. I have a hard time remembering album and song titles for instrumental music as I almost always listen to it in my car without the case handy. Out of Nowhere is my favorite, but the others are fantastic also.

962 - You mentioned that you have e-mailed Igor Belsky and purchased his later CD's. I tried the address on his website and it didn't work (looks like his website is way out of date). Can you e-mail me his address at gilljd@earthlink.net. Also, how are his next releases? I've listened to 'Road Tested' for a couple of months now and it seems more incredible with every listen.

Just wanted to put a plug in for UFO. I saw them in Chicago this weekend and it was one of the best concerts I've ever seen. If you didn't know it, Vinnie Moore is their new lead guitar player, and Jason Bonham is on drums. I'd highly recommend it to anyone with the opportunity. I'm a big fan of Vinnie's and Micheal Schencker and I can tell you that you won't miss Micheal in their current lineup.

DamIMissNamm - What boat were you on and when? I was on the Richard B. Russel from 1982-85, then the Bergall for 9 months till I got out. I wonder how many more of us there are on this site?

DamIMissNamm - A boomer puke huh? You didn't mention when, I'd assume it was around my time since, as I recall, that series of boats was decommissioned not long after. I was out of Mare Island my enlistment, a nuke machinists mate, how about you?

I was fortunate enough to see Joe last night at the Pabst theater in MIlwaukee care of Immortal 5150 (Terry). Terry got stiffed on a couple of tickets and gave me one since I'm currently unemployed, and I'd like to nominate him for fan of the year (he coincidentally saw Joe three times in Chicago prior to this). Anyway, thanks again for the ticket Terry, hope the meet and greet was fun after the show too. The Pabst theater is awesome as it has assigned seating, great sound, and no smoking. I can't remember the last concert I attended without asphyxiation afterwards. If you live North of Chicago, you might want to consider Milwaukee in the future. Oh by the way, the concert was as incredible as everyone else has claimed recently.

962 - Simon,

Thanks for posting the link to your music. I only had time for 'Eye of Ra', and agree it's fantastic. I also appreciate the low fi version as I live in the boonies and have poor connections speeds most of the time. I'm looking forward to listening to the remainder when I get a chance.

Zinc Master - I enjoyed the article about the cat with the MBA. However, having received an MBA myself, from a prestigious university, I'll tell you the cat's diploma is probably as good as mine in real life. I'd also lay odds that this cat was brighter than some of my classmates.

Duncnic2000 - I'd recommend you give Engines another spin. I was aware when I purchased that disc that Joe had experimented with techno, which is why it was one of the last of his discs that I bought. However, after a couple of listens I loved it, and it continues to be one of my many favorites.

JS_JS - I have 'To hell with the devil' though I haven't listened to it in years. I thought it was fantastic and will probably dust it off and give it another listen soon. I don't know what Stryper's done since then.

Joe - Glad you're back to normal, please consider Vinnie Moore for your next G3 tour, or Marty Friedman.

Namm Man - I couldn't agree more with you regarding wolf2 performing the interview. I actually laughed out loud when I read that.

I was confused by your suggestion to read the UCMJ before enlisting. My take on the UCMJ is that it just spells out the things you already expect from the military. For example, possibly facing a firing squad for quitting your job, or bread and water for 30 days for other offenses. Basically, they own you for your enlistment period. As long as your okay with that going in, it shouldn't be a problem.

js22 - I also went the route you chose, using the military's financial aid program and the state of Illinois's veterans assistance program to pay basically 100% of my education costs and some of my living expenses. In the end I have no regrets, however, I'm not completely convinced that going into debt for college is a bad alternative. Good Luck

Hello everyone in Satchland. While you're waiting for Joe's next release, thought I'd recommend you try David T. Chastain's newest, "Countdown to Infinity'. For that matter, Marty Friedman's 'Loudspeaker' is amazing as well.

Any other recommendations out there?
