Hey Joe,
Got a question about how you started playing guitar. Like yourself I am teaching myself and have done it pretty good for around a year and a half now. I've been a proud owner of a new Ibanez SCA220
and I was wondering what kind of music were you playing in your first 1-3 years of guitar? Was it mostly stuff like Hendrix, Zeppelin and Cream or were you into other kinds tunes? Thanks I hope you answer this, it'd be good to get some advice from the best. Thanks, mick

Just thought of something......
Hey Joe,
In Chords of Life at around 1:55 or so into the song it seems like you almost drift off into a Yngwie Malmsteen style of playing for a little bit. Is there any kind of story behind that? Just wondering, cause it sounds awesome...

Artanis I: Thanks for the help!! Ya I'll check out some of the cds soon, and I will definetly pick up LISF on DVD. There's just something about watching guitar players who are 50 times better than me doing there stuff that makes you go "Whoa, that was cool".... Thank you Joe!! I'll keep practicing and maybe someday in 30 years I will be as good as you......... I hope.......
Edit : ianjf: I am looking forward to the DvD even more now! Thanks ! Oh Ireland rocks man! I used to live in Donegal for a bit when I was real young, it would of been the coolest to see Joe play in Dublin!

IANJF- I went to go pick up the Live in San Fransisco DvD, Crystal Planet, and Surfing With the Alien and the only Joe thing they had was Strange Beautiful Music, which is great but I already own it!! I was pretty upset about that, but for sure on Friday I will be going to a place that definetly has it. So one more week at the latest.....

I finally got my Live In San Fransisco DvD!!! That is one amazing show and the quality of the recording and sound was awesome. The backstage features and multi angled tracks are real cool, and every single song rocks. It was crazy watching Joe, he plays flawlessly, and all the other band members rock too....
Oh, I am still wondering if anyone has a Digitech RP200 or RP100?? It's just I need help getting that Joe effect and I can't get it right by myself. Thanks.....

Hey....... Merry Christmas to all,
Ianjf - ya more back stage stuff would of been awesome... But overall the dvd cannot be beat. Stu's bass solo was the coolest thing!!!
Oh if anyone could recommend a good Joe song which I could actually learn and not smash my guitar in frustration it would be cool. The only Joe song I know at the moment is Tears in the Rain and now I wanna learn some nice electric.... I checked out Starry Night and that didn't seem "too" hard to learn, or at least compared to other Satch songs. Anyway, any thoughts would be cool....

Smithers - Ya Eric Johnson has some pretty awesome songs. He is actually what first got me listening to Satch, because of the whole G3 thing. Cliffs of Dover is probably his coolest song.
Sharif - Speakin of Johnson, how did you learn all of his songs? Did you get tab or just figure them out yourself? And do you know how to get that cool tone he gets when he does some climbing, sorry I dont know the actual term for it, but he gets that mellow sound and I cant recreate it. I'm not sure if it is an effect or a bunch of different settings or what......

Sharif - Thanks for the tips, I always thought he had some wierd type of compression or some kind of effect to get that tone. The same thing with the speed, I had practiced that song a lot and kept on speedying it up to be somewhat the same, but I never would of thought it was the way he picks the strings...

Hey,
Hope everyone had a great Christmas. Um I have a question that I hope some one can answer. Right now I have an Ibanez SCA220 (Ibanez Site) (Note: go to guitars, s series, and then SCA/SC Models), and I wanted to get a tail piece or something so I could get a whammy bar on mine. Now going to the above link shows you something called a Short Stop II Tailpiece which seems would do the job, but when I go to the parts catalogue under that model of guitar, it only shows the original bridge that came with it. So I was just wondering if it was possible or not to rig somekind of tailpiece on my guitar so I can get a whammy bar? Thanks...
