zenfish, Joe is melodic master over Steve! Joe's melodies are great, but Eric Johnson's are the best! hehe

marimariSRV, allright mate! Hows it goin? I'm good thanks. I've been checking up on Kenny-Wayne.....the new album, The Place You're In comes out October 5th

He's updating his site quite a lot these days because of the new release, so you should go check it out! There's a launch show for the new record, in Shreveport, Louisiana, and I would suggest you pre-order his CD from his website - the first 300 orders get a signed copy!

http://www.kwsband.com and go 'hi-fi' cause I don't think the 'lo-fi' site works properly!

Delfino, I got no idea how much a new RG770 goes for.....probably between 700 and 900 quid, but GAK will give you a good idea.

Clarky, you're right the Mongolian archers did use a quite small bow suitable for their archers to use from horseback, but it was called the Mongolian Longbow. I don't know why.

Speaking of Jag performance, they made the XJR15 in the early 90's which was an awesome car, but lasted about 5 minutes cause nobody was interested in it. A few months ago it was anounced that the rights had been given to re-ignite the XJR15 project.

TVR are okay but engineering consistency is lacking. Although that has probably changed now Smolensky has bought the firm.

Austin/Delfino, is "spraying the lizard" a new euphemism to go with "polishing the rocket", "bashing the bishop", "choking the chicken", "shaking hands with the love governor" and "wanking"?
Clarky, I dunno man, I cant offer any more than I know (which is not a lot, based on my 6 months of archery) so best ask the mongols and see what they say about it

Suzie, you like most things sci-fi? Are you lookin forward to Alien vs Predator or is it just me? I can't wait, I reckon it's gonna be a kick-ass film!
Heads up people......does anybody know anything about Guitar Chroming? I've seen people advertise very ocasionally, I was wondering where one can get it done, preferably in the UK?

civgeek, I don't think it'd work. When I met jennifer batten i asked "have you ever thought about doing a G3 thing with satch and vai" and she quite forcefully, yet very politely, said "oh I think you have to be asked".

If you manage to 'bother' people in to pestering Joe about it, it's probably going to move them down Joe's list of G3 hopefulls, cause he'd consider it a little rude! Which is understandable, in my opinion.

evbro, you're in boston? damn it......there was an Extreme reunion just last weekend - the first reunion since they split, and you missed it! I think Andy Timmons goes to boston sometimes, and I know Nuno/Population-1 have a botson/east-coast tour coming up cause that's where they are from.
bahduh, ouch, helicopter crashes are harsh man, I always find them so sad. That's difficult that it involved so many high-profile people as well

jazzzzyyy, yeah what's John 5 like? I read something on a guitar magazine cover recently quoting Vai as saying J5 is cool, worth listening to, etc.
bahduh, ouch, flying in bad weather!! yeah i've heard of both those places.....it's a real shame we can't bottle up the rain as it falls, and ship it to africa.
Delfino, what kind of paint are you spraying the guitar with? It's a funky shade of green, I like it! I'm not managing to sell my Jem, so i'm thinking of stripping it, sanding it, spraying it black then getting the top chromed like the Bad Horsie guitar, only i'd keep the vine inlay instead of using the blue LED's. My basic reason - if I can't sell it then i'm going to make it MINE rather than just 'a Jem'!
Who was it who reported a few months back the Jennifer Batten is working on her new studio record to be released through Favoured Nations? Any ideas how she's getting on?

Delfino, haha, that was me who said that about the pink guitar! hehe, Paul Gilbert and Steve Vai both had bright-f*ck*ng-pink guitars, and both played 'em well.

I'd love to be good enough to have a bright pink guitar! haha

Plain old auto paint from halfords? crazy! I might have to get me some metallic black or something funky like metal-flake black, and then get it mirrored on top!

jazzzyyy, hehe, cool cheers for the link! Sounds kinda like J5 is going down the road to Petrucci.....I can play some crazy techniques baby, yeah! check this out!! I hope he doesn't over-do it!
Cuthbert, thanks for the link to Jennifer's site - I haven't checked in a while. The info on the new CD must have been added since I last checked!

Trutina, WHERE ARE YOU?!?

It's a shame to not see Bil around anymore, I sincerely hope he's ok. I kinda miss those daily quotes of interesting social figureheads or funny things that similar people have said. I learned so much about Winston Churchill and Ronald Reagan!

Pastafarian, cool, I'd love to get all the sopranos seasons on DVD......i'm just following it on TV at the moment. Do the DVD's have any special features like cast/director interviews or anything?

It's a cracking series, and everyone in it is top class on the acting front. Edie Falco and James Gandolfini are superb....there's a lot of movies come out these days where the acting is not nearly at their level!

OllyNo1, a while ago when I re-tubed my Legacy, I was referred to bob at www.eurotubes.com, by OCPS470. Bob will probably recommend JJ tubes cause he'd like to make a sale, but he'll surely give you top advice if you need it, he's really helpful! If you're putting exactly the same type of tubes in it should be fine - re-biasing tends to be a requirement when you're changing the type of tube! Good luck!
Atomic Panda, yeah you can fit a locking nut to just about any neck, as long as there's enough room. You need a decent size flat area where the old nut is and where it slopes into the headstock. if not, you can use a rollernut with locking tuners!
jesus.....I was enjoying a social evening with my family when I got a totally rondom text message from an unknown number saying "jim says your ibanez is fucking shit".

Crazy, some stupid kid must have found one of me Jem-sale adverts and decided to give me abuse about the fact that I play Ibanez, claiming that my Jem was a shit one! Little sod really irritated me, but he's shut up now - I played the sarcasm card and told him he's really cool, what a god! I wish I could be like him!

It's cool tho, I saved his number. I'll phone him at...like...3 in the morning and wake the little f*ck*r up. Every night for a week. MUAHAHAHA

austin, hehe, no problems dude! No, the Stu album i have is Outbound. I really should get a job and earn some money, cuz there's so much music I need! I still gotta get Electromagnets too! Hey, thanks for the recomendation on The Urge!
Alexandre, yeah i'm concerned about Trutina's absence too.....I really hope he's cool, and just playing virtual pool or something!

OllyNo1, no problems duder! Yeah i'm good thanks, although a little annoyed by this pillock who so rudely interrupted my social evening yesterday! The thing that most annoys me is I don't know who the little bastard is, and that is lame, cause I know he'd never say anything like it to my face! nevermind. hehe, hope you're cool too mate!

Delfino, yeah 3AM is unrealistic, but i'll phone him at about midnight-1-ish before I go to bed. Also, I thought this morning exactly what you said - he probably is as young as he seems and therefor in school. I'd love to get his phone confiscated. haha, if I did that every day for a week.....now we're talking!

I know, everyone else is going to be thinking i'm surely just stooping to his level, but little f*ck*rs like "Ross" need to be taught a lesson! I don't take lightly to unprovoked abuse, it's just not right!

Fable looks good huh? I'll have to check that out. Mate, I found screenshots of Ghost Recon 2 the other day...it looks stunning!

Suzie, I bet that SG roars?! I'm sure you're both gonna gets bags of fun out of it!
did anybody else see the chinese Grand Prix? What a beautiful facility! The track itself isn't bad, as modern tracks go, but it's forte is the grand-stand.

Delfino, you should get an amazon account....games are cheaper. You could also pre-order the special edition of Halo 2, with the metal case and 'making-of' special features!

Suzie, I bet the sustain out of that SG is killer! I really ought to radically change my collection some time.....I'd love a 57 re-issue Strat and an SG like yours. I'd like a reissue 335 too.....ohh the money!!! It's not good! hehe.

Thanks, I hope I sort the little sod out too!

Noppa, yeah that first corner sequence is awesome! I also love the last 2 corners - that tight hairpin, the 1100meter straight and the final 85-degree left kink, which they just bound across like it's hardly there! Brilliant track, well done China!

I hope Kimi and Montoya strike lucky next year, and get McLaren on one of it's good seasons!

Opticalstudio, i think the name of the track designer is Hermann Tilker. What a genius, the chinese track is awesome! I think he screwed up when designing Sepang (Malaysia) but the Shang Hai circuit is his redemption.

It was great to see Jacques in those renault colours....it's a shame he's not staying there, but Sauber isn't such a bad move I suppose. It was also great to see Schumi f*ck up....it's about time! hehe. Barrichello was hilarious up on the podium! hehe. Japan next, I wonder what will happen!

Oh, I really wish they'd take F1 to Laguna Seca!

Suzie, thanks for that link, petercooks looks cool.....there's loads of hgih-price stuff going on there....it's almost at vintage-and-rare kind of levels! hehe

You still enjoying your SG? Hope so! You know a couple of weeks ago you said you'd been to a shop in london which had a 2nd-hand Floral Jem for sale for about 1400....which shop was it? I'm probably going to london next week, with Jem in hand, to sell it. I'll probs get between 8 and 9 hundred for it :-(

Suzie, thanks for the rockers link! oh and always remember the http://! hehe

Opticalstudio, no i've not been to Laguna Seca. I would dearly love to go check out a GT/ALMS or the ultimate....CART race there! That would be the daddy! hehe. Laguna is a brilliant circuit, i'd love to see what would happen if F1 went there. I wonder if it's possible to e-mail Bernie?! mmm....doubtful!
Zenfish, take it easy maestro
Clarky, I dunno...i'm unsure about Laguna. I wondered the same thing, but the CART drivers probably carry a little more speed up the fast sections than the F1 drivers would, then are slower in the tighter corner sections than an F1 car would be. Also, the World Superbikes go there and they're pretty nippy.....if I remember rightly, they circuit in just over a minute and a half, so I reckon as an F1 track, it'd be no shorter than Austrias A1 ring.

It has been discussedbefore though, and I think the FIA said something like "we already have a USA Grand Prix and to go to Laguna would cost billions. The circuit facilities would need updating and we're not sure it would pull a big enough crowd".

Bullshit if you ask me, it ought to pull a bigger crowd than Indy F1 cause it's a better circuit! damn the FIA and their rules! hehe.

By the way, I hear what you're saying about the higher-buying-prices in London stores.....in your opinion, does that make my chances of selling my Jem to one of said shops, for a reasonable sum (ie 800 quid at least) any good?

and finally....amen on dutch people. they rock. It kinda makes me sick how amazing they all are at learning to be fluent in foreign languages, but they make up for it in coolness!

Burke, yeaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!! Speed Of Light live is on my wishlist!
Delfino, piss-rice sucks dude. You should get your mum to cook some really good white rice, along with some pieces of chicken cooked in green Pesto sauce....I tell you it is one of the nicest flavours, my favourite dish at the moment!

TASTEY, hiya! hows things with you? hope you're enjoying the new job! Things here are cool.....Alex and I got CD's sent off to 18 different addresses.....2 to Michael Moore, 1 to Rolling Stone......Today we gotta make phone calls and chase them up - phone the recipients in the UK and ask them if they opened our package yet! So basically, we've done the bulk of the work....now it's down to luck! Aaaahhh! hehe
Alexandre, i'm good, gracias amigo! Hope you're ok. Hey can you tell me again the url of your webpage? I forgot to add it to 'favourites' last time and now it's gone from my temporary folder! thanks bro!
Opticalstudio, damn, 1:06 is a quick lap! Those CHAMP cars are even quicker than I thought! I wish I could get CART coverage in this coverage, it's really good racing, and big grids as well.....none of this poxy 20-car-grid nonsense! hehe

Delfino, if the release date has been pushed back once, it'll probably happen again. Expect Fable in about a month. It sucks, I know....just as long as it doesn't happn on the scale that it did with Vai's Astoria DVD - that was about a year and a half late! hehe

Anybody else into law-enforcement/military counter-terrorism type stuff? Anybody else read Rainbow Six and the like? if so, check out Chris Whitcombe's Cold Zero. It's the best book i've read. It's an autobiographical insight into the FBI and it's Hostage Rescue Team.....very interesting. You get the insider account of Ruby Ridge and the Branch Davidians at Waco!
I loved John Kerry's job at the debate last night! Also, Bush said "We never expected Saddam Hussein to disarm". I have a .wav file on my PC which I downloaded, for use in the latest project of myself and my friend Al, and it's a recording of George W saying "we expect Mr Saddam Hussein to disarm".

Vote Kerry......he'd do a better job than monkey-boy, and hopefully it would save Europe; as it stands, George W is probably going to get us all killed, so do us a favor! Please!

Delfino, haha, it least you can be assured that it won't suffer Half Life 2 syndrome! HL2 has been in development since HL1 was completed. that's ten years, and they're still releasing dodgy, wobbly, unfinished beta-test videos maxing about 5 minutes long! hehe. By the time HL2 comes out, it's graphics and physics engines are going to look archaeic!

jelly man, sorry I didn't realise HL came out in 98. Yeah I know HL2's engines are great....I was just being purposefully OTT and saying that by the time it comes out it will be outdated.

Yes of course, HL2 will be good, but too much hype is a bad thing. From what I've seen it does look excellent, and I await with intrigue, but I think that release date will change quite a few times before we get to play it.

Delfino, as above.
Austin, edit: I shouldn't have spelled Whitcombe with an 'e' on the end! hehe. It's an excellent read, I thoroghly recommend it!

Those Lego men you linked to, I have all those. What's special about them.....I missed the previous posts on the matter?!

Stu Clone, having a decent writer is important, I agree. I dunno what you think, but I thought the storyline of Halo was impeccable. It was really original and carried off in a very involving way.

jelly man, hehe no worries mate. I was checking out new screenshots of Halo 2 today....it looks f*ck*n awesome. I can't wait for that. I think we could see stiff competion between Halo and Half Life! watch this space I suppose!
Does anybody have any advice for teaching guitar to beginners? I got a call from a 13 year old boy this evenin asking about guitar lessons, and if I start teaching him, I'd appreciate anything anyone has to suggest! All I know is that teaching beginners can be a lot harder than you'd think!
Suzie, what do you make of G3 Denver then? I thought it was ok - vai's set was immensely cool, Yngwie got kinda tiresome but it's not a bad DVD. Do you have the G3 '96 DVD with Eric Johnson? If not, get it, it's incredible!
I've had a couple of people bid on my Jem! Yay! So probably no trip to london after all. It's at 870 quid at the moment.....criminal, but that's the way the cookie crumbles. Damn cookie dough!
