JS_JS, yeah you just gotta be careful man.....people thought that rap was the complete opposite of what I'm into, but I appreciate some of it. There's this one guy called Rahzel....."The Human Beatbox"...he's f*ck*n incredible. he's extremely talented. Apart from making the coolest sounds with just his mouth and his mic, he's also able to do tham at the same time, ie. make a beat and rap to it. it's crazy to listen to, but awesome. In his field, he is a virtuoso. So yeah, rappers aren't so bad....that's why people don't take it so lightly here.
mikesb, I agree entirely. I think it was probably someone either fanatic about Pantera's work or it could have been someone who hated Pantera for the lyrics to one of their songs. We may never know. Right now we just know it's a damn shame, and a great loss.
evaneezer, Speed Of Light is one of my favourite tunes. It's great, not too hard to play either. hehe
Opticalstudio, many thanks bro, you're very kind! I've saved that link and will check it out this evening when I got more time. He looks like a pretty crazy-cool guy tho! hehe.

achoo, mmm sounds interesting! I don't much like Bjork, but Rahzel is ace. I got his Make The Music 2000 album, it's incredible. It'd be ace if one day he did a collaboration with other virtuosos, like Vanessa May (or is it spelled "Mei"?), Vai, Sheehan, and so on. I don't know the world-leading pianists and brass players and stuff, but you get my point!
alexandre, thank you for checkin out those tracks amigo, and many thanks for your kind words! i'm glad you liked them! Let me know when you get more MP3's up on your site! Have a great weekend bro

Zinc Master, haha, that was really funny! First try I failed, but I managed to do it the second time, but it was tricky!

Opticalstudio, thanks man, I wonder if he will check the link! I read the thing about his car accident, it's pretty badass. It's great that he's still so enthusiastic about working though, despite his freilty! Cool guy. Hope you had a good weekend bro!
haha, I just went looking through vai.com, at Steve's journals, and realised I haven't read the Vai News for months! The new album sounds like it's going to be pretty cool. And the photoshoot pictures ar really funny.....Steve's goin all 'lord of the rings' on us! haha

Also, I don't know whether to go for the show in Paris that he's playing with Sharon Isbin? Anyone got any suggestions? One part of me says "yeah go for it, it'll never be repeated" and the other part says "it means going to Paris.....what if I then find out there an Aching Hunger part II in Holland and I can't afford to go?".

Anwers on a postcard please!

jazzzzzy, I gotta say, Vai's new look is quite funny. I dunno where he got the idea from.....maybe it's his version of a midlife crisis. ehem.
Voodoo_g3, greetings from dorset! haha, that makes 3 of us on here from the land-of-the-local-person!
Delfino, no I don't think anyone's heard from him in a long time. I sure hope he's okay, he's one of t2j's finest, that's for sure.

HOWDY FOLKS! Please excuse my absence....I have been....I dunno actually, what have I been doing? Think I got lazy, and last night I went to see Blade Trinity. Which kinda blows. It tries so hard to be cool it's just awkward, tho there's a small handful of funny lines in it.

New music uploaded here: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/5/simondaultreymusic.htm

It's a 2 parter, so check it Revolve (Parts I and II) if you have ten minutes spare.

Suzie, okay I dunno much about violin playing so I'll take you word for it (on Vanessa Mae). That said, she can play, and she's a big name - I think the virtuoso thing would only work if most of the people were big names!
OpticalStudio, hombre, you're very kind! Thank you so much for your continued encouragement, and thanks for getting a couple of your friends checkin out my tracks! I'm really pleased about all the positive feedback. Apart from anything else, I know how I want the tracks to sound when I do them propely, and if people are excited about them now, the tracks should come out really good for "the real thing"!

That'd be great if you can give the nod to Buzzy about my tracks....if you do, please give him my email address! (if you don't have it, it's as follows; airman_siro@yahoo.co.uk).

Thanks again bro! YOU ROCK!

update

Wow, I just read your recent post that you already passed on my tracks to Buzzy! Awesome dude, I'm stoked. That's and honour, for me, and especially for hearing that he liked them! Don't worry about the mail address - I'll mail him and say thanks. Also, thanks to your ex-girl for her feedback, it's all useful and encouraging!

For Red Square I used my RGT for all the main parts - that's the one with the PAF Pro and Fred pickups in it. Tho for the clean parts (intro and outro) I used my GIO, and that was just using it's Ibanez standard neck pickup! hehe, it sounds okay tho!

michelle/civgeek/anyone else, did you know that Fuck is actually FUCK? It's an acronym, and basically means the same as Rape. Forced Unlawful Carnal Knowledge or somethin like that, I can't quite remember.
OCPS470, wow, that's awesome news amigo! You're on the nail with that, there is a whole load of money to be made in the VideoGame industry. I reckon, given another 2 years, the VideoGame industry is going to make as much money from soundtracks as the movie industry does, and the costs will be about the same! Crazy!

Clarky, I take it your son is under 18 years old? if so, how did he come to have a copy of all 3 GTA's, cuz they're all 18 Certificates?!

I think that's where a large part of the problem is. The blame cannot be placed on the producers - the retailers and marketers are the ones responsible, and often the parents too (tho I'm not saying that's the case with your son!).

Everything these days is marketed at kids....kids are lead to believe they need to act like adults, cause it's a great money-maker, which is why we see 5-year-olds dressed like 25-year-old hookers. It's not cool.

jazzzzzy, hows things with you amigo? Congrats on the Grad School placement! What you going to study?
Suzie, oop, I missed your more recent post! Hi! hehe, i'm good thanks. hows you? Hows Operation Move House going?
Cuthbert, aah, "For" not "Forced"....I new I'd FUCK it up! hahaha. sorry, i'm surely the only one who found that funny?!
bros00, haha, another Dorseteer! I think that might even make 4 of us now! Welcome to t2j, by the way!

DCK, thanks a lot for checkin them out, glad you liked them!

Delfino, many thanks bro, especially on "you've done it again"! What a compliment! Glad you're liking the atmospheric thing, I guess I owe that to Mr Fripp and Ms Batten! hehe. Hope your kidney sorts out pretty sharpish dude, kidneys are not cool when they go wrong!
Stevee T, thanks a lot for your kind comments amigo, glad you liked the tracks! The entire track (Parts I and II) was recorded with my new Ibanez SA1260 - it doesn't even have it's pickup upgrade yet, so it's tonally pretty okay, considering it's Ibanez pickups! haha. I used my dad's DOD GS30 multi-FX pedal for the sounds - there's gated patches where you can take the attack off the note to give the violining sounds, and with delay added, it gave the atmospheric pad sound nicely. The lead tone is another patch that I programmed. In the solo part I used yet another patch, but also used it with my Bluesbreaker, which is what gave it the slightly creamier sound, and the Bad Horsie wah provided the bite.
Clarky, ah I see.....yeah i understand it's hard when a kid begs their mum for something like that....mothers are never really aware of what it involves, and would also rather give in than piss off their child! Still, maybe retailers should be told to give a disclaimer when selling these games to anyone, so if a parent or grandparent buys something like "Manhunt" for their kid, the seller has to say "I just need to make sure you're aware of the content of the game and that you understand why it is not suitable for anyone under age 18".....it would be annoying, but it'd help a tiny-weeny bit!
Suzie, Blunkett quit? I missed that! haha, I wish all of them would quit. And the tories too. It'd be nice for the slate to be wiped clean and each party getting kitted out with new people who actually know what they're doing! Sorry about the house-move not going well. It's a real surprise, considering what the housing market is like these days.
OpticalStudio, yeah I got your mail address thanks bud! And it's very sad about Buzzy's health....all from a cab accident. Bad things always seem to happen to the best people, it really sucks. Please give him my kind regards when you next see him. I hear what you're saying about him not being able to mail much - should I, instead, forward him a message through you? if so, let me know and I'll get it done pronto!

I'm glad you're enjoying the new tunes, i'm really pleased about you guys all following my new music, it's very rewarding! Kind regards my friend, take it easy.

LucySorets, haha, fair enough! Yeah it's a cool photo, better than his new photoshoot ones where he looks like an elf. :-D

Stevee T, yeah my Dad got the GS30 when he was on a business trip in the US. After he died last year I kind of inherited his guitar stuff cause i'm the only one in the family who plays. I never really used the GS30 cause I didn't like it much (I don't like multi-fx anyway) but I recently started playing with it, taking the stereo out straight into my soundcard, so not even using an amp, and it sounds pretty cool! I did have to reprogram the pedal with all my own patches tho, cause, as usual with multi-fx, the standard ones were lame!
climber, haha, many thanks dude! Thanks for checkin out the new stuff, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I can't speak for Clarky, but I know I'd like to do something with it. Okay I will speak for Clarky....yes he is going to publish it, otherwise Frankie, Tony and Putz are gonna go round and break his knees! haha (j/k!)

I been checkin out your stuff too amigo, it's cool, keep it up! Please post more as and when you get chance to record stuff....the more the merrier!

Suzie/pp0, if we could have one emoticon here on t2j I'd choose the "embarrased" one! haha.
pp0, there's a good reason that Joe doesn't tell us much about his family, let people put photos of his wife and son up on the site......no doubt he just wants things for them to be as normal as possible. It doesn't matter what Rubina looks like....I know you're just curious, but you just gotta leave it man, seriously.
Suzie, when does your holiday start? Do the kids finish school today or something? Holidays have got to be the best up-side to teaching! hehe
opticalstudio, haha, yeah bro, that's a big dream but it's a good one, I like it! What a nice idea.....keep us updated, ok? Buzzy seems like the sort of guy who deserves that kind of a tribute. I'll mail soon.....real busy at the moment! Take it easy amigo, have a cool weekend!
Joe, good to see you in here.....if you're not back before christmas, then I hope you have a nice break. Kind regards to you and all your folks!

opticalstudio, haha, yeah SUN SUN SUN sounds nice to me! I've been to california a few times and it's always been pretty nice! It randomly rained once, but other than that it's always been warm.

We were there for new year at the milennium, and the day we left was my birthday, january 3rd. We were walking along Venice beach and it was 28 degrees celcius or something - that's about as warm as it gets in the UK in summer! haha. I wanna move to Switzerland....it's hot in summer, the most beautiful scenery, and the greatest skiing in winter time!

Yeah Alameda looks like a nice place to be....how does it compare to Santa Barbara?

I bet you're happy term has finished! have you got much work to do over the break, like marking work? Hope you enjoy a good chance to relax, and yeah, roll out the red wine! hehe

I've been checkin out the site and cdbaby page....it's all good, but I'll have to wait until I strike lucky with a decent connection to stream some of the sample tracks. It's annoying cause I really want to hear your stuff! have either of you guys thought of putting a few mp3's up on soundclick or something? it is free, and they're downloadable!

You have a great weekend too amigo, and thanks for passing my tracks on to Randell! You're a star!

opticalstudio, thanks dude, I hope Buzzy will be ok to read it. I'm sorry he's been put on morphine....that really sucks. I mean, I know, people say morphine is great and kind of addictive, but it's not good, the bad thing being that you're in such a state to require it. My best regards to him, I hope it eases his pain without f*ck*ng his head.

Some people say you suck so bad you shouldn't be recording? well those people are just plain rude! hehe. Man it's all kind of irrelevant really....you should be recrding cause you want to....you should be doing what you want to do for your own purposes. I am not a particularly good player, in my opinion, but I record stuff cause I want to! The main thing is keep doing what you're doing!

And thanks for the help bro! yeah the music links on the ATN website are links straight to the CDbaby page, where you can't download mp3's....you can only stream them. I can't stream audio, but I can download complete files! Maybe you guys could set up a soundclick page? www.soundclick.com and just register as a band, not a guest or "listener"! I know, it takes a while to upload whole tracks, but it's kinda useful to have the free host. if either you or Randell do get a chance, check it out! Sorry, if those directions are kinda vague just shout and I'll explain better! hehe. Take it easy dude!

civgeek, GEEEEK FEEESSST! haha j/k dude!
Dizzy, for those whose heart has been broken, or just cracked a bit, I recommend listening to Eric Johnson's Lonely In The Night on the Venus Isle album!

namm man, I think it's interesting you said "terrorism is an epidemic"......I dunno, I didn't read the whole post so I may have ripped it from the roots of it's context (hehe) but if not, please explain!

I'm just curious about it cause that certainly isn't the feeling we get here, and I'm wondering if there's the general feeling of a constant threat from unknown sources, in the US, cause that's what the government want you to believe?! It's interesting.

Austin, I went searching for "Electromagnets" the other day and found some marketplace sellers on amazon.com selling internationally. I rercognised the name 'caiman' so I ordered from them! $14 including shipping and it has been dispatched. YAY! I can't wait!
Clarky, I think it was even more than that. Pretty f*ck*ng sick!
Zachary, no doubt about it, it's gotta be the Katana! If you buy that I make a pilgrimage to your house to see it in all it's original beauty!
Bahduh, happy christmas and kind regards to you and your folks too! Cheers amigo
Powerslave, we still don't know what's goin on with trutina. I Mailed him 4 or 5 months ago, but didn't hear anything. I just hope he's ok. Let's all just keep our fingers crossed!

p4uljs2k, my suggestion would be to check out an Ibanez AT300 - that's an Andy Timmons model. They're great. You kinda get the best of both worlds, cause it's got strat-sounding neck and middle pickups, but a nice fat, warm-to-very hot fullsize humbucker in the bridge. mahogany body too, and a wilkinson VSV bridge and locking tuners. You can't go wrong.

Suzie, mate, that really sucks! I'll definitely remember your advice, on never moving house within the UK! hehe. What a kick in the nuts. About solicitors, estate agents etc fobbing you off with crap.....is it me, or has customer service in this country reached an all-time low?

My mother and I have had to deal with a lot of customer services lately, cause it's been one of those months where one thing after another just goes wrong. We have had some serious sh*t from people. I honestly reckon i'd get a better reception if I walked into the middle of harlem/the bronx wearing a Swastika T-shirt and asked the nearest gang where I might find the local KKK meeting place. Even if I did start it all by saying "wassup my niggaz?".

Ok, i'm done ranting! basically, I feel your pain! I feel your frustration at the simple fact that lots of brits are assholes! hehe. Happy Christmas! hahaha!

Suzie, haha, a perfect example! "Clowns" is such a great description too! hehe

Zinc Master, hehe, ok. yeah I guess they were an interesting group, right up until they made themselves into a char-grilled group. I recently read Chris Whitcomb's book, "Cold Zero" which is his autobiography. He was on the FBI's Hostage Rescue Team, and one of his job's was the steak-out at Waco. It's really interesting to finally take a different perspective on what went down!
OCPS470, that's really interesting, thanks for your thoughts. I dunno, I do kinda fell that you (and many others along with you) have the heightened sense of insecurity because you have been told to.....conditioning. I mean, for 3 years straight you have been told that there is a real threat and it is being dealt with, but you need to share a national allegiance to help fight the terror. And it's all pretty much bullshit. 9/11 was a one-off, and it did exactly what it needed to - it created friction. It turned the world's attention to the place where everything is happening.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you're all dumb and easily lead and so on. Not at all. I just reckon you all need to try being a little more cynical about your government! hehe. I dunno, we've had countless terrorist attacks here killings thousands of people, and from different sources, but mainly the IRA. But it has never created a national tension where we're all just waiting for the next one. I dunno, I just find it interesting how different people in different cultures and societies react to the same things!

Steven Wilde and marimariSRV, thanks both for your mails! I'll write replies and thoughts when I got more time, probably tomorrow!
I can't believe I've never mentioned this - Out Of Sight is one of the coolest movies ever! I watched it yet again the other night, and realised it's on TV tonight. Everyone should see this movie, it just oozes 'cool'. It's great, in a similar way to how Ocean's 11 was cool.

OCPS470, I can understand your concerns, but I think they are only concerns of yours because you have been conditioned to believe there is a threat.

Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canavarel (I have no f*ck*n clue how it's spelled! hehe) may have some military significance, but terrorists aren't actually going to target them. Try thinking about it differently - a terrorist attack against a massive, iconic civillian target, one of stature and one which symbolises what it is to be part of the US - I'm talking about the WTC here - is going to get many more people talking than a place where astronauts work.

I do believe that the whole point of 9/11 was not to kill people, per se, it was to draw attention, on a global scale, to the group of people responsible. As it happened, there was confusion, and nobody was certain who was responsible, and it made the president look really stupid, which is probably a bonus for the group who orchestrated it, but basically it worked.

I dunno man....I'm not saying "forget about it there's no threat", but I do think you need to try not to be paranoid! hehe. Oh, and re. the washington Sniper - I had totally forgotten that until you mentioned it.....I think that kind of shows what works at grabbing attention and what doesn't?!

Happy new year to you too amigo!

sorry people, i'm skimming so I might miss stuff. Nothing personal.
JS_JS/Pfields, Lords Of Karma ~ A tribute to Steve vai and Joe Satriani is a good disc. There's some questionable interpretations on there, and there's some ace stuff too....worth having, although Im not sure why......I suppose cause it's a tribute to two guys who are still going strong, an obvious sign that they are living legends.
Zenfish, thanks a lot for checkin out Revolve, and thanks for your feedback, I'm glad you liked them. I've listened to it a few times recently.....I really want a proper drum track, especially on Revolve II.....the timing is just a little dodgy in places! hehe

Also, glad to read your good words about Kenny-Wayne.....he totally rocks!

GuitarHottie, Love Thing is a beautiful melody and an excellent tune to play. I think it's pretty much the first tune of Joe's I properly learned and I still love it. Keep at it, and go prove your guitar teacher wrong! hehe, is your guitar teacher a guy? I'm guessing maybe he thinks girls can't play or something? if so, tell him to check out Jennifer batten.....she's amazing!
