OCPS470, hahaha, nice try but I ain't buyin a JSX! I have literally NO money, and everything I earn goes towards paying off some expenses. And when I do finally fidn myself with a grand and a half kicking around, I'll probably be more interested in a Washburn N4. I'm sort of getting used to Joe's new tone and like it more than I did when I first heard it, but he's still a bit too loud in concert, for me.

Delfino, you had to walk a whole mile home? Awwww, poor martin. haha. Sorry, just a light-hearted dig. Good luck at your next pub quiz night!
Zenfish, "After Jimi Hendrix, Ed is the only one who has brought a so new vision of Pentatonic attack."....apart from Eric Johnson
VFR, howdy bro! I think it's good that you've been busy. I've had too much spare time lately and it's really bugging me. I can't find any inspiration to do anything/play anything/write anything. I prefer to be busy! hehe

Anyway. Dude, thanks a lot for checking out the rerecorded Red Square. I appreciate that, and thansk a lot for your kind remarks! I'm thrilled to hear it inspired you and got you thinking about your own music! I find writing and arranging really hard, so I'm usually overly excited when I write something that I'm actually happy with, but I'm always a little suprised to hear when other people like it too! haha. So again, many thanks for your support!

Let me know how you do get on with your own music! Take it easy mate :-)

OCPS470, yeah you're right about the mixing. That said, when I saw G3 at the Royal Albert Hall the mixing was excellent. I could hear the different component parts of each song that each person played, but Joe's band was just very loud. Vai's band was a decent volume, and I was surprised at the clarity.....it wasn't hard to pick out Steve from Tony from Dave, and Billy rocked!

I take your point on the JSX too.....I've never even seen one....they don't sell 'em round here....so the chances of me playing one in a shop are slim! I think you're right about that comparison too. The Legacy's lead channel kinda stops where the JSX is only on channel 2. When you switch to channel 3 you're getting that Recto/H&K TriAmp thing, right? Although the JSX clean channel is cleaner than the Legacy! They'd certainly make an interesting pair, especially for comparison. Though if I had the money to spare I'd be too tempted by the H&K TriAmp! Actually, that's double the money. Oh well! hehe

VFR, Dude I hope I do get to hear your T2J CD submission! Looks like I probably will, right DCK?
Anybody else see Alien Vs Predator? I just watched it. It's awesome, it really tells a lot about the Predator. Not quite so much about the aliens though....I'd have liked to have been told how the Predators captured them and got them to the antarctic, but regardless, it's a cool movie. The Predator is so badass, I love it!

OCPS470, re. what you said about the Legacy clean channel. It sounds like you probably heard it with it's presence switch on. I never use it cause it does sound a bit too direct, but not nice enough to be an almost acoustic tone. I always leave the presence function switched off on the clean channel, which leaves me with a very full vintage kinda sound and works absolutely brilliantly with strat sounds. The stacked humbuckers in my SA sound really nice. And yeah, the JSX is far more dirty! I like the Legacy's vintage thing, but sometimes I do find myself craving something heavy enough to smash elephants, especially when my buddy Alex is over and we're playing metal! hehe

Also, dammit, wish I could have seen that show! rare Porsche's huh? I bet there were some beauties.....any really old ones, like 356's?

Jazzzzy and michelle, you guys were talking the other day about Metallica's Some Kind Of Monster DVD, right? I watched it last night....it's fascinating, really really excellent.

michelle, I dunno about the hetfield/ulrich relationship - from what I could see it sort of appears that inside, they really love each other to bits, but they have trouble dealing with their problems. I don't think, if they really couldn't stand each other, they would get so worked up about each other's issues. The whole documentary was top-notch though, I found it really interesting and some of what was discussed really makes you think from a different perspective about your own issues. Dr Phil's insight was interesting, but did turn ever-so-slightly sinister as his involvement with the band grew.

Bob Rock is cool. I can't say I think much of Jason, but I have a lot of respect for Rob Trujillo and Dave Mustaine!

OCPS470, dammit the guy had a 959? F*ck*ng incredible bit of engineering. To this day, it is the proud owner of the world's most advanced 4-wheel-drive system. That's why Porsche took a lot of the 959's 4x4 design principals and engineered them into the Cayenne SUV. An endurance race modified 959 (labelled 961) was entered into LeMans GT2 class and was obscenely difficult to compete with. Meanwhile, Porsche setup a squad of 959's for the Paris-Dakar rally, which, on their second atempt, they won, and came 2nd and 4th just for good measure.
AMBROSONICS, sounds like an interesting design you've come up with. I doubt I would find much use for it myself.....having that many options would be too much.....but it's definitely cool that you're "raising the bar", so to speak. Good luck!

VFR, haha, I used to feel the same about the Cayenne but it has grown on me a little. I still think it's kind of odd though, but it's a testament to Porsche's design and engineering skills that they can build and sell both the Cayenne and the Carrera GT and blow away the competition with both! hahaha, "like ibanez sponsoring a westlife tour"...that's hilarious!

OCPS470, yeah I like the new 'vette too. And the only Viper for me has got to be the original RT/10. It looked so hard, especially with the roof down, I love that car. The GTS (of 97, 98 kind of vintage), as raced in LeMans GT2 class, was also a beauty, but the RT/10 was the dog's bollocks.

And personally, I like the look of American cars, and they sound great, but in engineering terms they suck. They're way too heavy, and the effort that is put into making a decent handling package is minimal. Yeah a 4x4 Viper would be interesting, and I think it would shave off more than a half second!

estrela, thanks for the message. if you move into Brazil as a tourist, does it mean you're not allowed to do paid work? Also, hehe, no I collected the cat yesterday! She's back home and being very adorable! Everything here is ok thanks....how about you?
Dizzy, congrats :-)
michelle, fair enough, I won't argue with you! hehe. I thought the bit when Mustaine told the others outright that he found it so hard to watch everything they touch turn to gold, while everything he did was crushed, was pretty amazing. I respect him for telling them that, but yeah, he does need to have more confidence and finally get over the whole thing. That said.....how can anyone really compete with Metallica? You get kicked out of one of the biggest bands in music history, and you then try to compete with them?!?

It's a cool DVD, I'm sure I'll watch it again before I give it back to the dude who loaned it to me!

chron, 3 hours? He wasn't making a DVD was he?! haha
jazzzzy, howdy bro! Hope you're cool man.....don't get too bogged down with the work!!

mikesb, haha, on Vai saying "tell him to send me something"....you should have said "you tell him you lazy f*ck". hehe. Cause that would have gone down well!!

I'd like to see Saraceno on Favored Nations. I'm very pleased to see it confirmed that Jenniffer Batten's new record is an FN production, it'd be great to see Blues join her.

oh, and Andy Timmons for G3

Keniko, right on amigo. I personally am sort of with James and Lars on the whole Jason Newsted thing. I take michelle's point earlier that "he played every note like he was told to", but that's his job. If you're going to be a member of a working band, especially one as enormous as Metallica, you have to expect to go with the flow. That said, I know James doesn't exactly do that, and toys are occasionally thrown from the pram, but James is busy sorting out his own problems, and I think he's doing well. I have a lot of respect for him for facing his addiction and making it surrender to his willpower, it's much harder to do than people think.
alexandre, muchos gracias amigo! hope you have a cool week too! You rock!
Cliff, sweet, good to hear your Guitar Wars DVD arrived! It rocks doesn't it? How awesome is Nuno's opening number "Gravity"?!

jazzzzy, "I'd love to see a black lesbian female as the Pope someday"....rather than a black lesbian male? haha. j/k. Sorry, that was really pedantic! Seriously though dude, you're bang on, it'd be great to at least see a black pope....

haha, also, I just read "why is it the new pope named himself after a popular breakfast meal?".....that's hilarious! I guess so he can tell people "eat me" when they piss him off.

Keniko, that's really good! Also, that's a pretty shitty thing for Neil Young to say, especially since they played his song and released it on the most recent G3 CD and DVD. What a twat.
brainzor, look up "Ibanez" in ebay's electric guitar listings. You're bound to find backing tracks there, I see them all the time.

Delfino, I sympathise with you bro. I kinda know how you feel - I was in the guinnea-pig year all my life at school. We went through so many of the big changes, the instability it caused was farcical. I also had a really shit time at college.....college in general seem to be pretty badly run. I hope you do get your predicted grades where you need them. And I commend you for standing up and speaking the truth to your teacher's face, rather than being worried by their authority.

BigBunny, you're very talkative today! In a good way! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the Metallica DVD. I have yet to see the special features, I would watch it this evening, but I bought Worms Armageddon today and I'm so hooked! haha.

On Dave wingeing and whining too much....yeah I did kind of get that vibe. However, I still feel kinda bad for the guy. Watching and listening to that archive footage of when he was in the band.....wow, there was so much energy there. his playing was more exciting than Kirks.

Kirk has worked hard and I think he's better now than when he joind the band. Still needs to improve on some things though.

Suzie, DeNiro is great.....do you have Ronin? What an awesome film. Pacino is great too, I love his movies.

Suzie, I guess Ronin probaby is my favourite DeNiro film....it's got such a strong cast. but then, there's quite a bit of DeNiro stuff I've not seen. but Ronin does rock! As for Al Pacino.....that's hard to call....Possibly The Devil's Advocate, but I'm realy not sure, he's played some excellent mafia roles that take some beating!
meandmrvai, you should just buy off amazon or something dude, you can get all the Eric Johnson and G3 stuff you want!
Kandela, and where did you hear that rumour?! hehe. i can't imagine Joe quitting Ibanez after 20-something years of loyalty. And I can't imagine Peavey possibly having something to offer him that is better than what Ibanez can offer combined with their experience!

Delfino, dude that sucks about the college assholes banning rock bands! haha....their loss.

Hope you have a cool time at the party's, play it cool with the hottie you don't know......will you be taking photos at this one too? ;-)

TASTEY, hahaha, that baked bean story was pretty damn good!
BigBunny, yeah Worms is a game....it's been going for years, almost as long as lemmings, but is far better. It cracks me up, great fun.

I've never noticed the cardboard crowd at the end of Ronin.....I'm unsure as to whether or not to look out for it....I'm intrigued, but I don't want to ruin my experience of the film!

civgeek, "I think that over all most "rock" drummers don't learn control and dynamics".....damn staright. I have noticed the same thing about a lot of players, and having had the pleasure of working with a few drummers with excellent dynamics, have become a real snob about it! haha. That mainly why I think Virgil Donati was a far better acquisition for Vai's band than Jeremy Colson. I don't give a sh*t how cute Jeremy is, or how hard he plays his kit.....Virgil's touch is fantastic.....his drum solo is my favourite part of Vai's live DVD (oh, and the bit when Eric Sardinas comes out at the end!).

Powerslave, I wouldn't look at the SA220 over the S470. S470 is cool.....I'm not personally keen on the ZR trem, but that's just a personal preference! Regards S470 or JS100 - I have always been surprised at what a great guitar the JS100 is. That would probably be my choice, of the three.

I don't know if you ever use ebay, but you might find one on there for $300, or you might find something even more interesting!

There's a beautiful Roadstar on ebay uk at the moment - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33043&item=7315305838&rd=1 - I really wish I could afford it!

Zenfish, "We should accentuate the fact the Robert de Niro has done as many good movies as fuckin commercial shit.

Pacino has always played in good movies."......damn right. I know DeNiro's done some real commercial crap recently.....can't remember any of their titles though! haha. I saw an awesome mafia movie with Pacino and Jonny Depp last weekend....can't remember what that was called either, but Depp played an undercover FBI agent, who slowly became more and more like the mobsters who's gang he'd infiltrated. It rocked!

RAT01, haha.

Delfino, hehe, Adam looks like a young Quentin Tarantino!
civgeek, if you're going with the Tone Zone maybe you should pair it with a Norton rather than Air Norton? The Norton is very well matched in output level to the Tone Zone (I know cause I've had both in the same position in the same guitar in the last month!). The Air Norton is a low output pickup. That said, you may like to have a noticeable volume difference between 2 pickups.

The Norton has a really beautiful tone.....I use it in a mahogony bodied SA. With the Cruiser in the neck and Virtual Vintage 2.1 in the middle it sounds really awesome! I just wish the bridge/tuning stability in general was of the same high standard!

marimariSRV, that's a shame about Steve Morse not allowing photos. Oh well, what can you do?! Thanks, but no, don't worry about checking camera prices. I can find out from here using amazon-usa and seeing who's selling on the marketplace. I had a look on amazon.com the other day and it appears that there is a further evolution of the Nikon D70 available which isn't on sale in the UK yet......watch this space! hehe.

estrela, thanks, yeah my mum/mom had a good trip to see my sister and my grandmother, and I'm very happy to have the cat home. however, next weekend, my mum and sister are going to Florence for about a week, which means I'll have another week alone, without the cat :-(

Damn, I wish it was easier to move around to different countries, other than being a tourist. Thanks for your input though, it's very helpful! Hope you're having a great weekend!

Zenfish, yeah definitely. I personally loved the Brad Pitt/George Clooney combination in Ocean's 11, and found the Depp/Pacino combo to be just as powerful.

VFR, excellent stuff, I'm very glad to hear you have Schizophonic and Population 1 on order! Trust me dude, Population 1 is blinding! Nuno's writing and arranging on both albums is top-notch, i never get tired of it.

Listening to the first track on Pop. 1 I thought "oh, okay. This is kinda cool....a little subdued though for Nuno" but it's actually a brilliantly placed preparation for the full-on musical assault which is track 2! I'm really excited for you, i can't wait for you to hear it!! hehe. And I don't even feel bad that I don't get paid to do this....haha

Anybody else watch the F1 today? I thought Fernando Alonso's performance was stunning. I was very disappointed that Raikkonen retired so early in the race, he would have been very competitive.

VFR, sorry for being a total dumbass but I really didn't understand what you said to me! haha. No, as far as I know, I don't benefit from your taxes! haha. Oh and, "BBF"??
cuthbert, yeah I knew about Brasco being based on a real-life story.....that was something else that really impressed me about it....you could actually believe that it was based on a real-life story, cause it was executed so brilliantly, rather than being embellished and generally dressed up. No, definitely no David Letterman here!
Mr Nick, yeah I thought the end of the race was great. You know McLaren said they've got new parts for the car for Barcelona in a fortnight, and it's going to be very quick....my first thought was "f*ck being quick....stop it from breaking down after 10 laps. Then you can talk about quick". As far as I could see, it was pretty damn quick anyway, but reliability really needs to get sorted. Alonso's defensive driving was 1st class.....i've not seen anything like it in years. And I almost wet myself when Jacques Villeneuve finished 6th! 3 points!!! He usually fails to finish anywhere near the points! Barcelona should be good, I hope fernando has another good weekend.
mikesb, believe me, just as soon as you tell me where I can find that Ah Via Musicom DTSA DVD, I'll be listening! hehe. Seriously though, where did you get it? Also, what label is responsible for it?
Brother Al, I know that WD music Products used to sell what you're after. You should probably phone or email them to ask, as a lot of stuff they sell isn't listed in their web catalogue.

Mr Nick, if both teams can get the reliability together it will be awesome, cause Rubens has been very competitive when his car has worked, and Montoya has all the potential.....I'd like to see renault kept in the fight though, they deserve it.
OCPS470, EBTECH make an AC (and presumably DC) mains power hum eliminator. I really need one badly, cause my amp makes more noise with each thing that I switch on!

Mr Nick, haha, nice one, on rattling ITV cages! When did you do that? i didn't see anything until 5 minutes before the race started, so I don't know if they mentioned anything in their pre-race show? Way to go dude, I was most pissed that they chose to stick a 4 minute ad break in when the lap counter said there were 4 laps remaining. Soppy twats really need to review their advertising deal!
ovation1, indeed, life is fragile mikeysan. The TV report I saw last night said the driver was trying to make up time cause the train was running late, yet it's still under investigation because the engineers said that the train still shouldn't have de-railed. And I saw the shots.....it didn't just slightly de-rail. man that thing is f*ck*d, it is completely wrapped around the apartment block. A very nasty accident, a real jolt to the senses....like you said, it makes you realise how fragile life is!
OCPS470, power conditioners should provide the solution you're after. Since they're portable, they have to be designed to take the noise out before it gets to the amp, rather than after it leaves the guitar. I'm very keen to get one.

Suzie, hmmm, top Sci-Fi's for me would have to include Event Horizon and The Fifth Element!
Suzie and Yoda, just for you guys; Vai just released a new album, expect him here some time after the summer. Joe has told us he's going to be working on some stuff for the next album later this year, so don't expect him any time soon.
civgeek, who did the singing on the Boy/Girl Song?
Brother Al, amen on "Boobies"
Steven Wilde, take it easy dude, I hope your doctor can help you work through your sickness. maybe you should contact Buzzy? I'm sure he will be able to empathise with your pain....I know his sickness is completely different to yours, but he may well be worth getting in contact with! Like I said, take it easy!
Ovation1, indeed....making trains stronger is not the answer.....stopping them from crashing into apartment blocks is the answer. but, if any country is going to do it right, it's going to be Japan.

Ovation1, thanks man, your words are very encouraging....I can't wait to hear these albums! LucySorets, haha, I can't go see The Aching Hunger on July 1st either.....mainly cause it's on June 2nd!

Thanks for the heads-up on Angelica! I've just found it on amazon uk and put it on the wishlist, so I'll not forget about this one!

VFR, hell yeah I'm going to The Aching Hunger (Part II)! I can't wait! Also, thaks a lot, you've helped mikey in filling me with confidence that "blind-buying" a Steve Morse record was a good thing to do! I looked at the photos jazzzzy sent me of Morse on stage and just looking at him I could somehow tell he really knows how to play. I can't wait to hear some fresh styles and ideas, I'm optimistic that it's going to shoe-horn me out of the creative rut in which I currently reside.

I listened to some mp3 clips on Guitar 9 last night, of stuff from both Vinnie Moore and Tony MacAlpine. I wasn't impressed...none of it excited me at all. but it's all good - I got an e-mail this morning from caiman.com saying my Kotzen and Morse CD's have been despatched! YAY!

Ovation1, sorry, I know I asked this before, but I wrote down your answer and promtly lost it......what, in your opinion, is Paul Gilbert's best solo album? I've been reading mixed reviews of Burning Organ - some people say it rocks, others say it's disappointing cause the lyrics suck and it's kinda stupid, but I'm wondering if these people just aren't familiar with Paul's sense of humour?
wow look, one of wolf's family has paid us all a visit!

Lucy, ok I'm confused.....I swear when we got our tickets (some time in February) there was only going to be one show and it was June 2nd! Vai's site clearly says July though.....fuck it, I dunno.
jazzzzzy, yeah I'll try and take some decent photos this time. The ones I took last time sucked, but I'm hoping I'll be able to get a decent camera in time for Part II! Oh, and I can't remember the username of the new person, but what he said made no real sense, and seemed very wolf-like. I think the moment has passed! It's going to be one of those weekends!
estrela, hi! thanks, yeah I'm good. not alone yet....mum's going away on tuesday :-( For a week and a day! This is going to suck, I'm going to be bored out of my mind!! ARRRGGHH
