Sweet new site... It's time for me to go exploring! Very slick design. Have to get used to this new T2J page but I'm sure I will. Now for those Boston September dates....

Ah Joe finally pops in! I was listening to a few EOC tracks today. I STILL can't get over that mixo solo at the end of Champagne? - one of the finest solos I have ever heard! So uplifting. Amazing phrasing (ha that rhymed), and proof that Joe has more feeling on the guitar than any mere mortal. I can't wait for the new album, as Starry Night has also demonstrated what that solo in Champagne? and many others have already. I wish you good tour, and I will be sobbing uncontrollably as you are not going to be visiting Boston in September, haha. I'm pumped for the 25th!

Wow, so much controversy as usual on this page. First of all, Webmaster, thanks for all the effort you keep putting in to make this site better and to meet our requests!

Now I for one will never criticize anything that Joe puts out. Everything that he does is straight from his soul and is true, and I can't complain about that. Whether we like it or not, Joe is not making albums for us, he is making them for himself. His recordings best represent where he is at that time in his life, playing, etc. We could have a poll where 100% of the votes were for "jazz" and Joe would still release a pop album if he was so inclined at the time. If he tried to give us what we wanted all the time that would be fake and the music would not be good. Whether SBM is "rock," "easy listening," or whatever is not the issue here. We have two choices: we can either embrace Joe's work, try to get out of it what he is trying to say, and appreciate the art whether we end up enjoying the album or not, or we can complain, not give his work the time of day, and be close minded. I am going to choose the first, and I hope you all do the same. And I hope I like SBM, which I think I will.

I agree with the last post - Although I was doubting it before I heard it "Strange Beautiful Music" is possibly the most fitting title for this album. I am not quite through it yet, but those three words sum it up perfectly!!! WEBMASTER - One suggestion for this board: could you maybe add a feature where we can enter someone's nickname and get a page with all their posts on it? Cause if I want to find a post by a specific person, I don't want to have to scroll through every page, especially if there are 20 of them!!! Thanks.

Well I've gotten a few listens in and the verdict is in - He shoots he scores!!! Joe does it again! Sick, sick album. At first I wasn't sure what to think of it. I thought to myself, "gee, this is some strange but beautiful music... Wait a second!!!" It is so raw and emotional and great!!! Lots of different styles but a coherent feel to the record. I wasn't a big fan of What Breaks a Heart at first, but that reggae section makes it all worthwhile. Oh, and Joe, you wanted to know some tunes to play live? Well I think Starry Night and Mindstorm are kind of givens now, but BELLY DANCER must be played live!!! It would be amazing!!! I'd like anything from SBM though. Kudos to the whole crew for a kick ass CD!!! One of your best.

STU NOT BOO - I understand that, but in order to click the "n posts total" link, you have to find a post by them in the first place. Like say if I am looking for a post by you, but your last post is buried somewhere in page 6 and there are 12 pages, it's gonna be a pain in my ass to try to find it. Or if you wanted to know if I responded to your post, but you don't check this page for a few days - wouldn't it be nice if there were a place where you could type in "evbro" and automatically get all my posts instead of randomly cruising around until you stumble upon one? That's my idea.

Cup o joe - I use that button. But that doesn't help find someone's post in a sea of hundreds of posts. WEBMASTER - one other thing, I'm not sure if this is a glitch or not but sometimes I click "last message read" and then I'll come back to the page later and it'll have 5 pages of posts I've already read, posts before the "last message read" link that I hit.

One more thing - how are the people ordered on the "attendance" lists? I was the first to add my name to the Boston show, and now I'm 16, and it's obviously not alphabetical. Not that it really matters, I'm just curious.

It's sad about John Entwisle. He was one of the finest bass players I've ever heard, or had the priviledge to see live when I saw the who. I'm honored to have seen a legend.

SBM is incredible. I can't stop listening to it! I keep playing it thinking I'll get sick of it, but it never stops playing. Oriental Melody is absolutely beautiful and a great way to start the album. A masterpiece! Belly Dancer is definitely one of the best songs on here, it would be amazing live. Starry Night is more emotional playing by Joe, a great tune with great playing and I LOVE that tone! Chords of Life is very unique. It isn't my favorite on the album, but I do like it. Mind Storm, well, it's Mind Storm! Sleep Walk is mellow and creepy - in a good way! It gives me chills. New Last Jam - I love that 5/4 riff!!! Mountain Song is an awesome song. A driving beat and interesting arpeggiations make it memorable. What Breaks a Heart initially weirded me out a bit, but when I heard that ska-ish part for the first time, suddenly it was all worth it. Now I really like the entire song! Seven String is a deadly riff, it's got a great chorus and, my god, that solo! Hill Groove is definitely my thing, with it's upbeat and happy jam-like sound over a groove with more of a swing than Joe tends to have. The Journey has an INCREDIBLE beginning! The rest of the song is good too, but as soon as the track starts I am caught up in that guitar playing. The Traveler is cool but I don't have much in particular to say about it. You Saved My Life is a beautiful laid back way to end the cd. Bravo. Sorry for the long post but I LOVE this album!!!! Great tones.

Stu not Boo - Ok I just listened to the Traveler again and now I have something to say about it - the wah is awesome. Haha. Actually, that song is very majestic sounding, that would be my comment.

ELPP - You'd have to be crazy NOT to put Flavor Crystal 7 in your setlist!!! Haha I love that song. Have you heard the "Additional Creations" version of the song? If not you should check it out, it's more of a "live performance" feel for it. I actually really want to hear that song live, I'll bet it'd be killer. That reminds me to go update my setlist...

There I updated my setlist. It's way too hard to only pick 32 songs. And to think Joe's only playing for 90 minutes this tour! ARGH!!!

I must be the only one that doesn't absolutely love Chords of Live, haha. I don't dislike it at all, it's a cool song, but it's definitely not my favorite on the album. Then again I don't know what my favorite is. SBM just kicks my ass as soon as it starts - Oriental Melody, Belly Dancer, Starry Night - DAMN!!! It's already amazing! Like i said before, oriental melody is a complete masterpiece, and I can't believe I have heard so many people being turned off by it!

JS Clone - That's all well and good, but it is Mak's comment you are referring to, not mine!

There are some things on EOC I am not a huge huge fan of, but there is some stuff that is absolutely beautiful that I really love, and that more than makes up for anything I don't enjoy as much. That is my honest opinion of EOC.

kholdstayr - it was a new Ibanez JS 7-string prototype.

INVIGOR AND STU NOT BOO - I've said it before and I'll say it again - the Mixo solo at the end of Champagne? is one of the best, most uplifting pieces of guitar genius I have ever heard. It's not flashy so to speak by any means, yet it is one of my favorites of all Joe's solos! And Austin, I went to Knott's Berry Farm once - fun stuff!!!

MAJOR TOM: the more you post that message the less I want to help you out there. It's getting obnoxious, and I have not gone and voted or whatever you're asking everyone to do and I won't even consider it until you stop spamming this board!

OVATION1: Joe is playing the lead AND the rhythm guitar on that track. Robert Fripp plays the ambient creepy sounds in the background.
