Joe, that is EXCELLENT news! Glad to hear you're feeling better. I was bed-ridden with pneumonia myself at age 6...almost died. Nice to see you've got your second wind back now!

JSX combo.....ineresting. I was thinking of getting the JSX head, but I wonder if I should wait for the combo now. Decisions, decisions.

I think that's one of, if not THE, longest post you've made here. Best wishes for a further recovery : )

Michelle, I had the urge to get some things done today as well.

However, I laid down and the urge disappeared. Methinks my old friend Mr. Entropy is going to come for an extended visit. ;-)

Namm Man : you beat me to it.

Marimari....are you still going to the NAMM show? If so, are you even allowed to take pictures?

Probably......but.........what if your co-worker looks like Fat Bastard? ;-)

Only $1.300 to go before a ESP Viper Standard is mine :D

Anyone here have experience with changing out pickups in a guitar? I'd like to try some different types to sample sounds.

civgeek: Yes, they did a really good job on that DVD package. Very well put together....can't wait for the next volume, which should include the Live After Death video amongst others. Not sure if you're a Dream Theater fan or not, but I also highly recommend their Live at Budakon DVD. And I'm hoping that The Reel Satriani will be made available on DVD one of these days.

*hint, hint, hint* ;-)

Steve T: I really like the website. What'd you use effects wise along with the volume swells?

Take a gander at this...... http://www.gmwguitars.com/3_03_04/3_3_6.JPG

One of the most beautiful finishes I've ever seen on a guitar. I'd almost be afraid to play it for fear of nicking the finish.

Howdy to everyone....took my first real guitar lesson yesterday. After years of just noodling around from time to time, I've decided to get serious about it. I think I learned more about music theory in 30 min than I ever did before.

I *love* it :D

I've never played any of the Floyd offshoot bridge systems. But I despise changing strings on a Floyd. Takes forever. HATE it. Then again, I don't think I would want one of the newer Floyds....I actually want a headstock with tuners just in case. ;-)

Tangent: a friend of mine had some Creative Labs PC speakers.....sounded 100 x better than the little Polk Audio speakers I have. And then another friend recommended some Bose PC speakers. Anyone have any opinions on optimizing CD playback on a PC?

Michelle....I know how ya feel. Ever seem like things you're interested in kinda take priority in cycles? For example....you'll really get into music for awhile....then maybe go on a book, movie, or game kick before your interests cycle around again? BTW, I will say that even though it takes forever to drive through PA up to NY, it has the best rest areas of any state I've been to. : P

Speaking of computer sound.....does anyone have any recommendations on good PC speakers? A friend has some Creative Labs speakers and damned if they aren't lightyears better than mine. I was *amazed* at the sound.

962: Thanks for the info. I know my PC's soundcard definitely doesn't have an optical output. Nor do I have a DVD drive in the PC, so I'm torn between upgrading the current one, or getting a new one altogether.

MariMari: Please take plenty of pictures and have a lot of fun....wish I could be there myself.

I just hope my car doesn't turn into an unintentional snowboard tomorrow on the way to work.

http://www.peavey.com/news/wnamm05_jsx212.cfm Here it is folks......the JSX combo, debuted at NAMM.

The good: They added reverb! The bad: The price!

Keep in mind this isn't exactly confirmed information, but according to a reatailer posting on the jemsite.com message boards, the new chrome finished JS2prm's SMRP is over $5,000 US.

Cuthbert: I wish I had been wrong about the price. Seems like only 60 will be made, and I imagine more than 75% of them will end up in collector's hands. But I'm really looking forward to getting the Black Pearl one.

I susbcribe to the Spinal Tap theory of guitars....."none more black". ;-). Here I've swore up and down that my next guitar will be a non tremolo one, but that BP JS1000 is just too sweet to pass up. And my eye is on a black ESP Viper Standard as well.

And here Jazzy is trying to find one with a maple fretboard.....unless Ibanez opens a US custom shop, I don't think you're going to see one. I *love* ebony and like rosewood myself, and really dislike most maple fretboards. There have been a select few I didn't go "ugh" at, especially the Peavy Wolfgangs. A friend of mine has a Tele with a lacquered maple fretboard, and I couldn't STAND playing it.....it was the equivalent of running your nails down a chalkboard.

Stevee T: Nice to see another King's X fan.....I thought I was the only one! ;-)

Michelle: I agree with ya completely on the grocery store run before an impending snowstorm. Is there some magical snow-melting combination of bread and milk that I don't know about?

I got to see Michael Vick here in town a few times while he played at Va. Tech.

As I get older, my tolerance for the stupidity of politics is really wearing thin. But I hadn't realize that the word "iberal" had become a dirty word.

962: I think Ty Tabor is one of the most underrated players on the planet.

Alexandre: Thanks for the link to the Petrucci album cover. I saw DT last April from a distance of about 15 feet. That man is a *monster* player. I'm looking forward to that one myself.

Zenfish: I'm not sure about the quality of their acoustic guitars, but Gibson electrics can be some very fine things indeed. I'd recommend playing one if you can find one at a shop or have a friend that has one.

Steve: We got about 4 inches of snow here, with a possibility of more tonight. Isn't it funny how your opinion of snow changes from when you're a kid to when you're an adult and have to drive to work in it? ;-) Michelle, I hope you didn't get too much snow there in PA. Once Joe gets better, we can invite him over for some snowboarding!

Unfortunately, I had to cancel my guitar lesson for today due to the weather.....which gives me more time to practice for next week. Slowly but surely, the "suck" patina on playing is starting to wear away.

962:No, I don't have that one. It'll have to go on the CD Wanted List.....which is about as long as Godzilla's arm.

Congrats to the Eagles....now if the Steelers can just beat the much, much, much hated Patriots. No offense, Mikey-san ;-). I haven't forgotten the ex-con on the snowblower field goal incident against Miami years ago. Me bitter? Nah!

I'm sure most people here remember Austin's favorite song poll. I've been thinking about my favorite Satch album. I could make strong cases for both SWTA and FIABD, but damned if there isn't a weak song on Crystal Planet. Not one. And it flows so well. That's my vote.

962 and Dr. Mindcrime: Thanks for the information on the JS series tremolo systems. After swearing up and down that my next guitar would be a non-tremolo (I still want an ESP Viper Standard), once I saw pictures of the JS1000BP, I had to have it.

The Jemfest sounds cool....do they also display other Ibanez models as well?

I've never been skiing or snowboarding, but I wouldn't mind trying it sometime. Just remind me to stay off the Sony Bono and JFK Jr Memorial Trails.

Yes, there has been some negativity here as of late. But if you look at Alexandre or Baduh, they're *never* negative. Reading their posts will always make you smile. Then again, so will Michelle's ordeals with spiders! *grins, ducks, and runs*
