Someone posted the URL for Robert Keeley electronics a few hrs ago.....thanks! I'd never come across that before, some of those pedal mods look pretty interesting. Enjoyed the G3 DVD very much. Also a shame they didn't release one from the Petrucci tour as well.

I just picked up the Satch Tapes on DVD (already had the VHS) and The Electric JS: An Anthology today, too. I think the remastered tracks sound great...already I can hear some nuances I hadn't heard before.

Anyone know if today's Hendrix Tribute show was webcast or recorded for release?

I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but iTunes has Joe's playlist featured in the celebrity playlist section now.

Joeman, if you need more information on the Battle of the Bulge, Google is your best friend. There are literally hundreds of WWII related websites out there.

You're quick on the answer ;-)

Any of the UK posters have any opinions on the quality of the various UK guitar magazines vs their US counterparts?

I watched the Steve Vai: Live at the Astoria DVD last night.....my God, but there is some jaw-dropping playing going on. What a band that Steve put together for that one!

Here's Joe's playlist at iTunes:

1. "Big Time" Peter Gabriel 2. "Don't Give Up" Peter Gabriel 3. "Heroes" David Bowie 4. "Minerva" Deftones 5. "Are You Experienced?" Jimi Hendrix 6. "Machine Gun" Jim Hendrix 7. "Beautiful Day" U2 8. "I'm Waiting for the Man" Velvet Underground 9. "Casino Boogie" Rolling Stones 10. "Sign O' the Times" Prince 11. "Standin' Round Crying" Eric Clapton 12. "I Believe in a Thing Called Love" The Darkness 13. "Presence of the Lord" Blind Faith

Each track on his playlist at the iTunes music store has some commentary notes about the songs.

I'm not sure if anyone else had posted about this, but sometimes I work for the Department of Redundancy Department ;-) A video file of Joe debuting the new JSX amp at this year's NAMM show, requires RealPlayer for playback. http://trio.harmony-central.com/ramgen/WNAMM04/Peavey-JSX-1.rm

I'd like to see DT on this current tour myself, but finances might plot against me.........definitely going to see King's X in Charlote, NC in April. Unfortunately, I haven't seen Joe live since the Flying In a Blue Dream Tour. I intend to rectify that this summer if/when he tours the US. Certain parts of the Southeast (read: my area) aren't so hot in terms of concert promoters.

Thanks for planting that song in my head.......I can't remember who did it either.....KC and the Sunshine Band?

Now I'll have to hum the "Phe-Nom-Uh-Nom" song from Seasame Street to clear the mental palate ;-)

You know, that Keeley modified DS1 is starting to sound more and more intriguing.....may have to get one of those.

And I agree that Steve Morse would be a *great* choice for G3. I'm really sorry that I missed the Petrucci incarnation.

I just hate it when your laser dangles out like that for everyone to see ;-)

I think the cover image of the Live at the Astoria DVD was taken right before or during the intro to Whispering a Prayer.

Lars? You mean Thomas Nordegg?

I know how the mighty hath fallen, but I don't think Lars is handing guitars to anyone but Kirk and James ;-)

From what I've read, he was using prototype JSX heads and XXX cabinets.....and I didn't know the quicktime video file was a new one, either! Wonderful little video........wish I had a spare $1,500 laying around.

I can't wait for a US tour myself. Unfortunately, the last time I saw Joe live was during the Flying in a Blue Dream tour at Virginia Tech. But I can remember it like it was yesterday ;-)

My area of Virginia isn't exactly a hotbed of great concerts, but I think that has more to do with the promoters than anything else. The southeast is a tough nut to crack for guitar based acts unless they have a major name recognition factor. Often, I'll have to drive to the Washington DC area (4 hour drive) or Raleigh NC (4 hr drive), or if I'm lucky just a 2.5 hr drive to Charlotte, NC. It can be a tad frustrating.

Sammy Andrews : I'm in Blacksburg, about 1.75 hrs or so north of you. A very good friend of mine who is a world class fantasy artist lives down in Bristol.....he has a studio in Abingdon, and I come down to visit him from time to time.

So what kind of amp did you order?

Michael Hedges was quite talented.

Adrian Legg may well be the most impressive acoustic player I've come across. Some of his material is just unreal!

Sammy Andrews Sounds like you're talking about Richard Jesse, very nice guy and an amazing guitar player. He'd studied with Al DiMeola for a while, and he also teaches locally.

Someone else mentioned Iron Maiden......that's where my screen name comes from ;-)

Heh......that's not even their best song ;-)

962: I agree with you, I think "The Forgotten Pt 2" is a criminally underrated song.....I'd LOVE to see Joe do a live version of it. Bookend that song with "Hordes of Locusts" and "Circles" and my head would explode in aural joy.

It must be rough putting together a setlist with so much great material to choose from, too.

Hmm.....I couldn't get the EVH mp3 interview to work.

Now while Ed has certainly had some personal issues over the last few years, that's no reason to slag him as a player.

Wagner would be a perfect example of seperating the artist from his work. Nice music, terrible guy.
