JS Clone: You haven't messed with that song since last spring? What are you waiting for? lol. And on the winter project, what's up with the engine swap? 16v naturally aspirated 2.0? 1.8 turbo?

Random Carlin Story: When they show a dog on TV, do you try to get your dog to look at him? Don't you want your dog to see the dog on TV? I do. "Look at the doggie! Look at the dog! Over there! On TV! Look!" He won't look. Even if you try to twist his head around and point it toward the TV, he won't look. "Over there! Turn your head! Look! On TV! Look at the dog! Goddamn it, you asshole! Look at the fuckin' dog!!" They never look where you want. If you point at something, they just stare at your hand. You try to show them something interesting, and they think you're showing them your hand. "There he goes again, showing me his hand. Why does he do that? I guess he's really proud of it. Uh-Oh! Now he's twisting my head around. Owww! Jeez, what did I do now?" "Well, for one thing you completely missed the dog on TV."

Karloff: You don't seem to be reading the other posts, but I feel compelled to tell you the same thing everyone else has said. TONE IS IN YOUR FINGERS, NOT A BOX!!!! Sorry, but that's the way it is. I remember reading a post from Joe saying how excited he and Steve Vai were to get a chance to play through Brian May's rig and they still sounded like themselves and not Brian May. Even if you find Joe's tone, it's not gonna fulfill you the way your own tone will. Keep searching and hitting buttons and turning knobs, but I assure you, you're tone is there to be found.

anibur: LOL on the satch tapes sound.

Stu Clone: You got me on your list?

Clarky: Congrats on the 10 spot man! I've been listening to your T2J CD track a lot this week. It really has fit my mood a lot and have been re-blown away by it. Any idea when your album when will be completed? Can't wait to get one.

Austin: Great review man, very informative and non-biased. If they only had you at Rolling Stone lol.

SLICK IS COMING!!!!!!! THANK YOU JOE!!!!!!!!!!1

JS Clone: 260 hp at the wheels is serious business on a front wheel drive car! I guess they can hold up ok to that kind of abuse? I have very little car experience myself, how much power is lost between the crank and the wheels on a car? On a chain driven bike it's around 17%.

Austin: Jerry Seinfeld on the cover of FIABD! LMFAO man!

crushingday62: Not just yet. But it won't be long, I promise.

Re: The stuff in the beginning of FIABD: Has anyone else caught stuff like that when you're playing. I get some strange stuff out of my amp, picking up signals from a high school football game down the street, but have never been recording during these circumstances. One day, if you hear, "Johnson with a first down!" you'll know what happened lol.

Michelle: Awesome song of the day! I've turned it up to 11 lol.

PhryDom: Nice plug on T2J charity action man. Why can't Joe do something similar? He could get hooked up with those people for some simple merchandise stuff and just give the proceeds to the Red Cross or whomever. Oh well, maybe Sony owns to much of Joe for him be able to give it away.

Stu Clone: Yeah that version of The Rumble on the Vai disc is awesome! Very cool stuff indeed.

Man, all these reviews of the shows have got me pumped!

Michelle: De'barge or something of that nature is responsible for that damn song and I blame you for putting it into my head LOL!

Matt Martinez: It kinda messes with ya when that happens doesn't it? You're like, "What the hell is that? WTF?" lol

Austin: Yeah, I know if you'd been around that atrocious top 100 list would never have flown!

JS Clone: Damn! Quite a bit more efficient than I thought.

death cube K: Nothing noteworthy as of yet, but soon. By the way, just out of curiosity, how much you asking for the Universe? Send me an e.

2 Ton: Damn kids these days lol! I hear what you're saying, maybe we are getting old, but dammit why do they have to do stupid shit like that?

Plum Loco: No prob on the contract, I got faith in ya. As far as a name, I've always been fond of "Gag Reflex Testing Tools".

Austin: I knew something didn't look right about my nick lol! I'll remedy it after this post.

Clarky: Sounds like a good plan, can't wait for the completion. Don't get too hurried at this point, you've been working on this too long to start rushing thru it now.

Ethn/dcK/StuClone: Of course he'd still be cool, playing while eating ribs! Of course what I really want to know is if he'd talk shit to the ribs before he ate them. "I'm gonna tear your ass up Mr. Riblet! You don't stand a chance against the fury of Satch!" Wait a minute, what are we talking about? Everyone knows that Yngwie ate all those damn ribs before Joe even saw them. And as shown in that photo, he's already processed them lol

Gotta put up a new quote of the day, since I had to retract that statement to her it no longer feels valid here lol. So without further delay, here's the new improved quote of the day: "Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned, nor hell a fury like a woman scorned." Clarky: So how does it feel to be back from the dead?

Artanis: I may give that a shot lol. Oh, by the way, the two hours you've been playing the triangle, is that all at once or cumulative of several intense practice sessions?

Ethn: Never seen the name Pimpslap before, but I have seen, and I swear to god it's true a name that's pronounced Sha Theed, but it's spelled Shithead. I am not making this up.

Carlin Quote/Thought of the Day: "I don't understand why prostitution is illegal. Selling is legal, fucking is legal. So why is it illegal to sell fucking? Why should it be illegal to sell something that's legal to give away? I can't follow the logic. Of all the things you can do to a person, giving them an orgasm is hardly the worst. In the army they give you a medal for killing people; in civilian life you go to jail for giving them orgasms. Am I missing something?"

Oh yeah, I forgot about the fury

juju808: I know it, I didn't believe it either. A good friend of mine is a school teacher and he was telling about this kid named Shithead. I didn't believe him, told him he was full of it and all that until he showed me his class roster. Sure enough, right there in black and white was a 2nd grader named Shithead!

Something tells me he's going to unleash some fury on his parents at some point.

Ovation: Wow, Paul Gilbert's gonna make a G3 jam apprearance! I need to check to see if I can get a cheap flight or something, that would be too damn cool. Anybody got an extra ticket?

Ok, enough of all of that. Way too many posts, sorry everyone. Hope I didn't miss too much.

death cube K: Man that sucks about the viral infection. Hope everything comes out ok. Take care man.

PhryDom & Ovation: I talked to Jon last tuesday night or so about getting permission for the swirly and he said he do his best to hook us up. Haven't heard anything yet, so keep fingers crossed for a few days, if we don't hear anything, then I guess we haven't been told no, so......

Early last week, before my heart was broken into tiny little pieces by the spawn of satan herself (no, I'm not jaded, really) I posted a couple of new tunes up at my MP3.com site because my iuma isn't accepting uploads. One song called Damed Again is a slightly more mellow take of one of my tunes called Dammit Man, but a little different. The other, De Mon Coer De Votre, is a very simple tune that I wrote for that spawn of satan. It's very sparse because it has lyrics that I was foolish enough to sing to her, but couldn't record because I have no mic. Thank god for that. Anyway, that's what I've been up to. I'm getting ready to do some collaberating with a hip-hop guy that wants some heavy riffing to use with some of his beats. You all know I like heavy riffing, so it sounds like good therapy to me. Spent the last few days listening to sad bastard music and this morning I woke up and put in Crystal Planet and started feeling much better. Thanks Joe. Wish I would have done that before I took my agressions out on the JS6. Hopefully it can be repaired fairly easily.

r6rocker: Thanks for asking about me man, and awesome quote of the day from you. If I had posted one then, it would have been something like: "Life is a deep, black hole full of pain and disappointment." lol But now, I have a better one to apply to myself....

death cube K: That's good news indeed man, hope everything works out. Oh, and I got your letter today finally lol

Michelle: Now how am I supposed to feel sorry for myself when you make me laugh like that? LMAO on the staple gun! Thanks

Invigor: LOL, thanks for the link.

PhryDom: Thanks dude, I need to find someone my own age I think. I thought she might match though, since I'm my maturity level is no where near my age lol. If I were to base it off of that, I'd be going out with toddlers lol

Stu Clone & Narface: Happy belated birthday to you both, sorry I missed it.

Alexandre: Oh yes, without a doubt we'll be ready for Christmas.

Ovation: Thanks man, I'll be doing some heavy stuff in the near future I can just tell lol.

UF Dean: Nice review, sounds like a great time was had my you and yours.

Steevlan 1: Another great review.

r6rocker: Thanks, and oh yeah, I've got all kinds of tunes to come out of this I can assure you lol.

Clarky: Great insight into the world of reviews and I couldn't agree more. The only review that matters is your own. Happy 800 by the way.

Crushingday62: I know I always say this, but we're damn close, I swear it.

crushingday62: No problem at all with that question man, no worries here. I'll have some good news hopefully early next week.

death cube K: Haha on regular mail. No, I'm still missing a few. I don't have the list here in front of me, but I'll post the list of shame in the morning lol. Oh, and happy belated birthday to you. How's are things going with the viral infection? Improving I hope.

Ovation: What in the hell is the world coming to? Ozzy thinks that Zakk drinks too heavily? I damn near dropped my Red Stripe on that one! I guess it would be hard to be around that when you're a recovering addict, but still, talk about the pot calling the kettle black lol

Michelle: Thanks again, things seem to be calming a bit, and we're talking again and all of that so maybe things will work out. Maybe they won't. I've written some of the strangest music in the last week due to my confused state of mind lol. How did the mission from god go? Hope all went well.

Ethn: Dude, why you always gotta be holding back on us. You can tell us how you really feel, you shouldn't keep all of that aggression bottled up inside of you, go ahead, unleash the fury!

Lyz: Hey there, long time no see. Be sure to drop in every now and then.

Stu M: Happy 900 Greg!

Migupais: It's been educational doing the T2J project, I can tell you that. I'm really interested in doing a 2nd one, and I can assure you all that it will go much quicker and smoother than this one has. We had lots to learn, but we're just about done!

Top 10 Vai songs? Geez, that's a toughie. Ok, in no particular order 1) Fuck Yourself 2) Warm Regards 3) Kill The Guy With The Ball (I wake up to that every morning!) 4) The Attitude Song 5) The Audience is Listening 6) Whispering A Prayer 7) Babuska 8) The Fire Garden Suite (with Bankok intro0 9) The Riddle 10) For The Love of God.

I'm voting Hey Joe because I like SRV's version of Little Wing better. Blasphemy you might say, but I'm in love with the Spawn of Satan so what did you expect lol

Little Wing 5 Hey Joe 3

Ok, and now for the coolest thing to happen all damn week. Yesterday I finally got around to getting Rush in Rio! Why the hell did I wait this long! I have 14 Rush cd's, every live release and I've never heard Alex play as well as he does on that one. I loved the set list with only 2 minor complaints. One, I really liked the jam on Closer to the Heart that was on Different Stages. That's in my top 10 songs list of all time and I've really gotten used to listening to that way, so the regular version doesn't do it for me as well as it could. And I was really hoping for a full version of 2112! I know, they did it for the first time live on the last live cd, but it still would have been cool. Other than that, the only thing I would have wanted added would have been In The End and Ghost of a Chance. Other than that I find it flawless. If anyone here is even the smallest bit of a Rush fan, go out and buy this dvd right now!

Damn, 700+ posts since my last visit. And who's to blame this time? She is of course, but this time it's good. I think lol. I couldn't have asked for a better week and things are going very well. I now retract my previous statements about the "spawn of satan" as I have exorcised the demons from her and revealed the angel I knew was there. Sorry, sappy non-musical and non-topical post ends here. Time to do some catching up on what's been up. And no, shamelessly I have made zero progress on the CD for the last week because of my distraction, but I'll be back on the case tomorrow, so fear not.

Well, lot's of debates been going on. I'll throw my $ 0.02 in the bucket on some:

Filesharing is a great idea that is a victim of the greediness and the laziness of humans. Like everything else, it's gets abused by people and it ruins it for the rest of the world that use it for it's intended purpose. I can't remember who it was that compared it to communism but that analogy was spot on. Didn't Zappa say something akin to Communism being a great idea if people didn't like to have things? (I know, I should know the exact quote and author being that I'm the quoting guy but I'm too lazy to look it up. How's that for hypocricy?)

As far as Hendrix is concerned I can't really say I was ever a big fan. I have oodles of respect for what he did though. I'm a fan of a lot of artists that owe much of what they do to Jimi. And as far as people who use drugs being losers, well that's a pretty broad statement. If you look at people who use drugs as a subculture, I think you'll find many different types of people that represent all walks of life and varying degrees of success. It's easy to stereotype drug users because the true idiots out there that also happen to use drugs are very memorable and tend to stick out in your mind. That's because they're funnier. Darwin's theory at work is quite a site to see.

As far as the Theory VS. Feel thing, I can see both sides. Too much of either can be a bad thing I think. Too much theory makes things sound to stagnant and too much feel makes it too shitty. Balance between the two is what makes good music and each artist is entitled to lean either way to make things more interesting. But, when speaking about myself I can sort of understand what people who play with all feel mean when they say theory is too limiting. The very very small amount of theory that I know has changed my song writing drastically. Before I knew anything I could play whatever came to mind. Now that I know a minuscule amount of theory, everything I come up with seems wrong. It can be quite frustrating. But the more I learn the better I can apply these rules and if I can pull that off, the better I'll be able to express myself thru those strings.

Happy 900 Michelle and Happy 1500 Austin!

Oh yeah, and I got a new guitar in my absence! An Alvarez AG-60SC 12 string. It's pretty damn cool, taking some getting used to but it's all good. Hopefully after a couple weeks of playing it I'll have enough confidence to start recording with it.

Graham: lol and yes, Willow kicks ass!

Megaboyd: Yes dude, I concur Steve Stevens for the next G3! Has he been up to anything lately? I'd love to hear some more solo stuff from him. Flamenco A Go Go kicks ass.

Austin: I think some one from here mentioned it when commenting on the filesharing thing, but the original quote about communism was from Frank Zappa I'm pretty sure. They just applied it as a metaphor on the subject. Whomever said it, it was a great analogy.

Plum Loco: Happy 400! Hey man, how's your breathing trouble coming along? Doing ok?

Ovation: Oh I'm having plenty of fun. I had been wanting one, and I had been wanting an acoustic so I just combined the two and killed two birds with one stone, err with $600 anyway lol. I had planned on getting some crazy new electric, possibly even a custom one, but then I blew half my new axe budget on some shiny stone earrings for Miranda so this was a good compromise I think. We're both pretty happy with my decision lol.
