satchblues & noyou Thanks for the help. I'm gonna check it out when I get a chance.

YaYo: I don't know if you should feel embarrassed for Joe. I'm pretty sure that Joe wouldn't do anything he didn't really want to do. It sounds like there were a hell of a lot of people there so I'd call it a success. I see your point, but just not sure I agree.

Mikey Vai: Thanks, I've been waiting to have this MRI done for several weeks. Resheduled twice. Annoying shit. Also, I'm embarrassed to say that I haven't ordered Guitar Wars. I know. I'll go find it now. Better than LATA? I'll order it right now!

mikesb: Yeah, Stevens is a monster player, and like you said, has great note selection. I saw you mention interviewing him once, a long time ago from what you said. Any chance of us reading that, maybe via email or something?

Austin: Cool, I think I'll be ok, I'm on XP. No luck finding a net station, oh well. Thanks man.

Ethn: I believe you are responsible for getting Joe to play Time Machine on that tour. We just helped you out some. How's that for service? Ask and ye shall receive. Also, don't feel bad about criticizing Joe here. The man is a professional and wants to hear everyone's opinions, good and bad. When you play something for someone, you don't want them to say, "Oh yeah that rocks, keep it up" if they don't really think so. You'd much rather get constructive criticism, telling you what they do and don't like. Joe's the same as any of us guitarists. He's just looking for feedback on what he's done.

michelle: Yeah, a six pack! Why not? I'll ask Miranda what she thinks when she come home from work. I may need your help convincing her lol. And yeah, I was very embarrassed by the whole MRI incident. Never had that happen before. They let Miranda come in and stand down by my feet so that I could see her in the little mirror thingy. I guess that's a good reason for her not to be pregnant. They wouldn't have let her do it if that was the case.

Megaboyd: If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times. YOU SUCK! That's it, I'm moving to the Bay Area. Joe doesn't come within 500 miles of me and you see him twice in a week.

Joe: Don't you need someone to work for you, maintaining your motorcycles or something? I can hook you up. Tune up your bikes, tune up your guitars, whatever. I'm game. I work cheap too!

Clarky: Over here in the states, labor doesn't hurt as much. That's cause we take the U out of it lol.

bytorsnow: Hey, a fellow Rush fan, and a Hoosier too! Joe's gonna be on Bob and Tom? That'll be cool. Where's the appearance at and when?

Museman: Yeah, I was never really into Yngwie much, but after watching the G3 dvd, I have a hell of a lot more respect for him. He puts 110% into his music, and really enjoys what he does. The man is a monster player that has a sense of humor that I've been misinterpreting for 20 years. All this time I thought he was an egotistical ass, and it turns out he's just a funny guy. I'm very pleased to say he proved me wrong.

TASTEY: Results will be in on Monday. They're tracking the growth of my tumor, so we'll see how big she's grown. The EEG is supposed to be checking to see how my current medication is working or something of that nature. Seems kinda silly to me. If it works, I don't fall down. If it doesn't work, I fall down. I've fallen since I've been on it, so that tells me it doesn't work. If he tries to tell me it works because of what the EEG shows, I'm firing his ass Trump style lol.

michelle: Tastey clothing? Like edible stuff? Just kiddin', couldn't resist lol. Mind permanently resides in gutter you know.

Mikey Vai: Me, eloquent? LOL, now that is funny! I'm gonna have to do some searching for a region 1 version of Guitar Wars I suppose. Thanks for the info. And I have a question that you may or may not be able to answer concerning Japanese bonus tracks. I understand the purpose of them, to get the Japanese market to buy their own release instead of a cheaper import. But I keep asking myself, why do they have to pay more? Why do they get folded over? Sony is a Japanese company, why do they screw their own country like that? Does it cost that much more to translate the cover stuff?

Zenfish: I understand. I can imagine how frustrating it must be. No space bar and no M? Irritating as hell I'm sure.

Powerslave214: Yeah, the older I get, the more I see that both sides are either getting fuller of shit or I was too young to notice earlier lol.

Ethn: You mean you don't go 186 mph off the showroom floor? I don't know what to say lol. On T2J's impact on some things is really great, and I believe the real reason this page is here. The SBM setlist pretty much came directly from the setlist poll here, so yeah, it's pretty cool. He wants to keep us happy. I'd love to know what Joe's personal ultimate setlist would be. Speaking of which, I think I'll ask.

JOE: Hypothetically speaking, what would you do for this situation: Let's say you've never released any of the songs you have written or recorded, but you still have all of them in your repertoire. You are getting ready for your very first public performance to a group of fans that are into guitar based rock instrumental music. You are scheduled to play for two hours. What's your ultimate setlist? What would you most enjoy playing?

962: LOL, yeah I can see it now, "Let me check out your USB ports baby" lol

TASTEY: Around here, they call that SMD, short man's disease lol.

jazzy boy: I couldn't agree with your post to Little Santilli more. Very well said.

Alexandre: Good to see you back man. Hope everything is good in your corner of the world. Take care.

Joeman9: As far as gay people, I sincerely believe they are born like that. I don't imagine at your age that you've encountered very many gay people. I know several and they're just like any other group of people. Some are very cool that I consider friends and have no problems spending time talking with on a variety of subjects. Some are real asses that I wouldn't want to spend more than five seconds around. Just like any other group. Some cool people. Some losers. Some of these people had terrible childhoods that have left emotional scars. Some of these people had extremely wonderful childhoods with loving and supporting family that helped them in any way they could. Just like any other group of people.

JS JS: At some point, you made a conscious decision to like girls then? Or did it just kind of happen? Some sort of chemistry thing that you couldn't explain. One day, girls had cooties, the next they had titties. Attraction is very much a matter of chemistry. Biologically speaking, you have heterosexual tendencies because your body knows what it wants. Have you ever seen a gay dog? I'm not joking either. Did the dog make a choice to be gay? Or was he acting upon instinct? Oh, by the way, Searching is an awesome song.

mikesb: I would love to read those interview transcripts! Send as many as you'd like to trutina@aol.com Thanks, I really appreciate it.

OCPS470: Still having good days and bad days. Today isn't all that great, but tomorrow will be better. Thanks.

YaYo: As long as Joe didn't play Woodstock Jam over and over and over I think it'd all be good lol.

Austin: Wow man, what a cool thing to hook Joe up with. I'd heard he liked to listen to bootlegs. Good idea.

Quito: Happy Birthday to you! Have a great day!

GODSGUNSGUITARS: Your post is the exact reason I play mainly fixed bridge guitars lol. Install, stretch, tune, play. Simple is good lol.

jazzy boy: Wipe the foam from your mouth man, someone is gonna give you a shot of thorazine if you don't watch out lol

VFRrocker: Thanks man, and on Fireblades, you guys get all the cool names and colors over there. We just get CBR1000RR. No character in a name like that lol.

Quantum: Long time no see.

mowlie 2000: That's awesome lol. That guy had way too much time on his hands.

Zinc Master: Cool, glad your disc finally arrived. What do you think of her so far?

MrNick: Have fun back at school man, it's been good having you around again. Take care.

Mikey Vai: Dude, that's awesome! Thanks for noticing that. Will be ordering very very soon.

kell: Thank you very much for that info, I'm not sure how much of it will apply to me, but I'll definitely ask the doctor about it.

962: Doesn't it seem that they are just purposely setting themselves up for another shit storm over there? Instead of letting a fire burn out they just keep poking at it and throwing more wood on. I'm ready to run for office lol.

michelle: Damn Mom! Unleash a lil fury why don't ya! I'm glad I'm not alone in my opinions. Living in my neck of the woods, racism and discrimination against gays runs rampant, even with some very close family members like my brother, my step mom, my future father in law. When Miranda and I were starting to get serious I asked her for her opinions on those matters because I really believe that if we raise our children right, these intolerances will eventually disappear. It kills me to see a young generation thinking the same backwards shit as four generations ago. So much for progress.

TASTEY: "Some people just try to get it wherever they can" lol, that was awesome! I'd get into the who religious debate and explain how the Bible is very much misunderstood on this subject, but I don't feel like starting a week long debate at the moment. I might feel a little more spunky later though lol.

Clarky: Yeah, I'm sure those answers would be quite humorous, or humourous, whichever floats your boat lol. All of the extra "U"s are easy enough to figure out how they changed, but where in the hell did we go wrong over here with the word "tires" lol?

jazzy boy: Thorazine is a drug used by insane asylums to subdue rowdy patients into a catatonic like state. You were all excited and I had this visual of you shouting your disgust at the screen and even though it's a very serious subject, the visual had me laughing. No offense meant by the way.

Clarky: Perhaps a subject like Sodomy and Gonorrhea? Or is that not spelled right? lol

jazzy boy: I'm rarely calm when I'm typing a heated message lol. I must look like a lunatic! Cursing at the screen, or sometimes just grunting incoherently lol.

Museman: That may be the case in the UK, but over here, there are a several large groups of churches that openly shun gays. The largest and most vocal group of people against gays here in the states are Christian Churches. I believe it's time to put this subject at rest though, as has been honorably suggested.

Sammy Andrews: Yeah, I hope he does too. I think the answer would surprise a lot of us. I'll post it again, maybe he'll see it.

actinic200: Probed twice. lmao

drafter40: When did you go from 37 to 40? Did I miss three years somewhere lol?

Alexandre: Miranda and I are doing great, thanks for asking. Any work on your album lately?

UF Dean: LOL, well that's the way it worked for me!

Joeman9: Definitely still friends. Disagreements are to be learned from. Hopefully, between the flaming shitballs flying thru here you caught some of the good points, which it sounds like you have, which is cool.

death cube K: Gilbert used to have a section on his website that was simply titled, "No, I'm not Buckethead" lol.

SupaaDave: The thing I can't get out of my head it that damned bassline from Gnaahh!!! It's infected me, my head bobbing relentlessly to this groove. In the grocery store, listening to Muzak, still doing the Gnaahh Bob. Mowing the yard listening to 5.5 horsepower of fury, still doing the Gnaahh Bob. In the bathroom listening to, uhh, well you know what I'm listening to, still doing the Gnaahh Bob. I'd be in real trouble if I hadn't been properly trained to raise the seat lol!

GODSGUNSGUITARS: Guitars and their "special moments" had be laughing, man. And yeah, you're kinda right on them always being right. I've learned that when I'm right, I need to keep my mouth shut lol. So yeah, they're pretty much always right! Oh, by the way, good phrase to use to automatically get sent to dog house: Who lit the fuse on your tampon? Will upgrade her from slightly irritated to angel of death in less than five seconds lol.

PhryDom: Yeah, I didn't really think you'd be into this album much. I've heard you say before you aren't into the blues thing at all. I'm glad you're digging some of it though. Oh, and be careful trying to unplug Hal. No telling what might happen lol.

Clarky: Oh, I meant Sodom and Gomorrah. Knew those weren't spelled right lol.

Mikey Vai: Yeah, I'm bound to get myself into trouble with that one sooner or later lol.

Ethn / death cube K: I believe PhryDom was referring to the Meganinja.

SupaaDave: Vampire Tea Bags? LMFAO! The women in here are gonna kill us lol. Sorry ladies.

GODSGUNSGUITARS: Holy shit that's funny as hell! That should be the warning label that says "Attention Males" on that product. We might pay attention to something like that lol.

962: When in the future, do we make the great leap forward, and everyone on Earth gets along and has common goals like on Star Trek? That's what I'm waiting for. I'm ready to man the bridge lol.

crushingday62: Will do. Expect to have news relatively soon, say next few weeks.

PhryDom: I'm gonna be sending you an email within the next week or so with some ideas. Just a heads up to look for it. Gotta find time to organize my thoughts first.

The Bob & Noppa: Actually, Japan doesn't really get hooked up. They get fucked on their prices over there. They pay roughly double for the Japanese release of an album compared to what we pay here for our release. It's actually cheaper for them to buy our versions as an import, so to make it a little more worth the extra money, the record companies throw in bonus tracks.

JS JS: You mean to tell me you don't understand the difference between someone dissing you for liking Yngwie's music and someone being offended when you say being gay is a sin and that it's the gay person's choice to be gay, not something they're born with? Two extremely different arguments there. To argue over a personal preference pertaining to art is one thing. To argue over a subject so sensitive as this with huge sociological impacts worldwide is quite another.

YaYoGakk: Yeah, I always wondered about that too. What's the story on hanging out at 5150, Joe?

Alexandre: That's good news on the music progress. These thing take time, but it's worth it. And that's strange on Miranda being a popular name over there. It's kinda rare here. No wonder I love her so much. Her name is popular amongst the nicest people on Earth I've ever had the priviledge of speaking with.

Maire: That is so very wrong for someone to have to go thru that. I hope everything works out for him. To be raised to hate yourself is horrible.

marimariSRV: I've been waiting patiently for someone to bring up Sodom and Gomorrah so that I could pounce all over it, but you followed it up with good points about the New Testament. I'll just leave it at this: The inhabitants of those cities were thieves, rapists and murderers.

Artanis I: Hey, I'm the one that busts out the relevant (or sometimes irrelevant, depending on my mood) quotes around here lol.

PhryDom: Maybe your whammy was possessed and is running around killing innocent politicians. Yeah, I know, it's a farfetched idea. There aren't any innocent politicians. It's too late for me to still be up.

Are we still talking about the rights or wrongs of homosexuality? I'm fairly certain all views and opinions on this matter have been adequately exhausted. I'm gonna spend some time catching up on today's posts. In the meantime, I have a new subject I'd like to throw in the barrel for everyone to think about, that's slightly less controversial. I say let's bring back slavery, only the slaves are selected by IQ tests. Anyone scoring less than 85 is a slave. The higher your IQ the more slaves you get. Feel free to discuss at leisure lol. And if you don't like that subject, how about gun control? Just something else, please.

962: Shit, foiled again lol. Money just screws everything up.

Noppa: In light of the info you've given me, it's my professional opinion that you are getting fucked worse than the Japanese. Buy the Jap imports for now on.

Joeman9: Sorry about that. I wasn't trying to misrepresent the author of that quote. It wasn't a Pope that said it. It was a gentleman named Alexander Pope.

juju808: If you have the resources, post some pics of your truck project. I'd like to see it. Sounds cool.

marimariSRV: I don't believe it's a GBM, but that's what we're going to find out. So far, the recorded growth hasn't shown much of an increase, where a GBM grows quite rapidly. Of course it's always possible for a tumor to upgrade itself to the next grade, but fingers are crossed. Thanks for the well wishes.

SupaaDave: Well, at least we didn't get killed for those lol.

PhryDom: Well, it'll turn up sooner or later. Probably on a lil vacation. You know, spring is here and it's been cooped up in some old box all winter long, it's wanted to hit the beach man.

Greyfox88: Not yet. My better half overheard a conversation between my buddy and me and informed me it was a silly idea and that I'd best not do it. She's working first shift this week, so I should have one no later than Wednesday lol.

JS JS: I wasn't trying to attack anyone, I just wanted to express my opinions, but I'm so bored with this conversation. Let's move on.

Master Yoda: I'm very sorry to hear that man, my sincerest condolences.

Artanis I: I'm afraid of my toaster, but I like my toast. I'm very conflicted.

Stu Clone: Thanks for the approval lol.

UF Dean: Naked women eh? Generally those are the kind of conversations that get me in trouble lol.

Austin: Good idea on the setlist update. I knew we kept you around for something lol.

Delfino Pie: Well, in hindsight, I've decided that slaves that stupid wouldn't be able to handle the tasks I'd want done anyway lol.

Greyfox88: Lazy work for slaves lol. If that were the case, I think I'd want to be dumber lol.

GODSGUNSGUITARS: It sounds like you are what I would classify, in my infinite wisdom, as a good hunter. I don't hunt myself, but I'm a firm believer in the need for it. Most of my friends hunt. I don't because I am lazy. Even if I were to get my ass out of bed at four in the morning to go out in the cold and be quiet long enough to shoot a deer, I know I wouldn't want to have to deal with it afterwards. Dragging 150 lbs of dead weight thru woods, up and down hills to hang it up and gut it. Then take the meat to be processed and deal with all of that. No thanks, way too much work and effort for me lol.

Powerslave214: Thanks for telling me that. The whole damn song has been in my head since yesterday afternoon sometime and it's been driving me crazy who did it lol.

Noppa: Ooops, sorry man. CDs in my area cost anywhere from $13 to $18.

PhryDom: I tried stinging that way once when I had an S470. It seemed to work pretty well at the time, but I think I sold it before I had to restring it again. Can't remember for sure. I was hoping the minuscule amount of weight in the ball ends and excess string wrapped around would help a little with sustain. Of course it didn't work, but I'm certain the theory was sound. Just need to use strings ten feet long to get enough weight to pull it off lol.

mischevious: Love the "if the world didn't suck" bit. That really helped out my shitty day.

962: Thanks for having my back on that.

bluebuffalo: Someone wishes for me to fall back into a comatose state, where not only was I lifeless, but also dependent on machines to breathe for me to keep me alive whilst I lie there on the very verge of death. All because of a joke I posted trying to get everyone to lighten up due to the heavy conversation from the last few days. I could have taken your stance and said, "Fuck 'em if they can't take a joke" but instead I apologized within two minutes of a negative reaction. This courtesy was not extended to me. Nothing personal huh? Whatever.

Austin: I won't be letting her obstruct this activity, I'm going undercover lol. As far as my views on abortion go, I have some very mixed feeling about it. Way back in the day, when I was in high school, my girlfriend got pregnant. After three months, she was taken from school to the hospital because she had a miscarriage. I can't even begin to describe how horrible that made me feel. My views changed a lot that day. However, my views aren't the views of everyone else. I believe there are several circumstances that would warrant an abortion. Too many in fact to list individually to make any clear cut or defined rules due to every situation having gray areas. Because of this, I'm still pro choice. But not if it's my baby. Don't know if that makes any sense, but that's about as clear as I can make it. Anyway, cool on round four. I'm gonna save my comments for another posts since this one is getting huge, like normal lol.

death cube K: You don't have to feed robots though.

Artanis I: "Always vote for me, never vote for you" LMAO! And, no I'm not completely mad. I just don't dig Secret Prayer that much. I'll give her a listen real quick in your honor though lol.

GODSGUNSGUITARS: I've been known to do a little fishing from time to time. Well, that's not entirely true. I've been known to sit in a boat and drink beer while holding a fishing pole all day. What type of work do you do that has you moving all around? Also, on the taste of deer, it seems dependent upon how it was killed in my experience. If I deer is dropped on the spot the meat is good. If it runs after being shot, adrenaline going thru it's body causes the meat to taste "gamey" which is only good for chili. Is that your experience as well?

TASTEY: I know a lot of people are opposed to hunting, but in several regions of this country, there simply aren't any natural predators to naturally control the population, due ironically enough to excessive hunting. Without these predators, several species will quickly overpopulate. Overpopulation is a problem because of lack of food for them as well as lack of space. The now too numerous animals will attempt to reclaim residential areas in search of food. The lack of food will lead to many being stricken by disease, mother nature's way of trying to remedy the over population. Which way is more humane, to allow monitored hunting of certain numbers to prevent this or to allow these animals to die slowly and become dangerous pests in urban areas?

962: I saw a little program on tv the other night talking about the 956 and 962. Total domination. Simply wonderfully engineered and crafted machines. I think I need one lol.

XtrChessReal: I hate to hear about anyone having a bad experience with any kind of new guitar. I've heard similar stories on here about the JS1000 in the last few years. The positive reviews out number the negative reviews by far. Sounds like someone in QC needs fired and the shop you bought it at should have done their own QC as well. Did they order it for you or was it in stock? Maybe it was built late on a friday. I take it Ibanez hasn't done anything to help you from your post, which is the real problem. Keep on them, find out when the rep comes in to the shop you got it from and make a point to be there that day.

Austin: "How did everyone do in Round 3?" Is that some sort of sadistic joke? lol And on the abortion issue, that's a good question about the exceptions. Perhaps because that is the easiest way for them to justify it, a bit of a shortcut to thinking.

UF Dean: I understand what you are saying about iTunes. I'm of the opinion that Joe's trying to promote the legal downloading of music, not necessarily trying to get us for an extra buck. Now on the Japanese bonus track, the best way to fix that is for the record companies to quit screwing the Japanese consumers. And Finland too! They don't even get the bonus track (I got your back Noppa!)

kokopelli: Fair enough, the internet is a wonderful breeding ground for communication breakdowns. And I know what you mean about lung cancer. My mother died of that almost three years ago, seriously nasty stuff. And trutina is a latin word meaning balance.

Stu Clone: Rinse and repeat lol. I was gonna say something like that. You stole my glory lol.

Zenfish: Still in keyboard purgatory I see.

juju808: Yeah that'd be great. Whenever you have them, just email to address listed here under my nick info. Make sure to put something about t2j in the subject or I might delete it though.

Quote of the day: "It's my record, dammit, and we're not fading the ending!" Joe Satriani

Edit: XtrChessReal: What did Ibanez say they would do about it? Neck replacement and rewiring? Full replacement?

XtrChessReal: Cool, hope everything works out with Ibanez for you.

mick87: My ears aren't as good as you might think lol. It's just as obvious to me as a sharp tuned b string in an E5 chord.

Artanis I: It's from the April 04 issue of Guitar Player with Joe on the cover. He was referring to If I Could Fly. He said, "The funny thing about this song is that the end solo is longer than the entire tune! When we tracked it, everyone said, 'We're going to fade this ending, right?' But when we mixed it, I crossed my arms and said, 'It's my record dammit, and we're not fading the ending!' "

death cube K: Have fun in Montreal man. Well, I guess you won't read this until you get back, so...I hope you had fun in Montreal. Or you might just skip all these messages since there will be a shitload of them so....ummm....yeah...lol.

michelle: Carrot Top is funny as hell. I've seen some of his filmed stand up stuff and it's great! Glad you had a good time.

Austin: Thanks for posting the highlights to the Rockline show. I wasn't able to listen because 1077thebone changed their player and everything just folded up. I went to listen just before the show started, then had to register and get all hooked up with the new player and it never worked. Oh well.

GODGUNSGUITARS: At first when I read pipe designers, I thought maybe you made really complicated water bongs for potheads lol. Just kidding. Cool tip on preventing gamey meat. I'll pass it along to my brother, he'll utilize it much more than I will.

jazzy boy: Worst song on ITLIS? That's a tough one, I'm really digging them all. I supposed I'd have to say my least favorite is I Like The Rain, but that may be because I really hate the rain lol.

Mikey Vai: That confirms my suspicion that Gilbert can make anything sound great lol.

TASTEY: I have to admit that I much prefer the hanging out and drinking beer than the actual duties that come along with fishing lol. The MRI results kinda sucked and kinda kicked ass. Not that I'm getting worse, just adding to confusion. Going to see a cardiologist soon. Neurologists may have been wrong all this time. If I don't get some straight answers soon, I'm gonna kill someone.

Tip of the day: If you have several buckets full of salt water and live rock hanging around in you living room for any amount of time, do not allow the dog to come in and hang out. Will result in a very pissed off dog that doesn't trust you and feels like hell. Time to play catch up, will do a bit of skimming, back in a few.

227 Posts to read. This is gonna be a long one. Here goes nothing.

GODGUNSGUITARS: Good luck with the move. I hate moving across town, can't imagine moving across country.

Zenfish: Glad to see you have a new keyboard and thanks for you kind words.

962: To own one of those cars would just be too much. I'd be dead in a week lol.

PhryDom: Thanks for the interview link, I'll check it out here in a few.

Jazzy Boy: Damn man, more interview links. You're trying to ensure I get nothing done today at all aren't you lol

Joeman9: Fav Satch album? I guess LISF, but that's a bit of a cop out. Studio album would probably FIABD.

Artainis I: "I have my needs you know" lmao

Austin: Thanks for posting the link to the tour dates. It just confirms my suspicion that Joe is avoiding Indiana like the black plague. Come on Joe, how can the state that spawned Michael Jackson and Charles Manson be bad? OK, not such a great example. Tax the Indian Casinos? Yeah, that's a good idea. It's been a long time since we last fucked them over. Some people, I swear.

bytorsnow: Awesome on meeting Joe. I didn't realize he was going to be in the studio there or I would have been in that parking lot with you lol. I figured it'd just be a phone interview. Imagine my surprise when I heard him in the studio that morning on Bob and Tom. Dammit!

Clarky: Dammit man, I knew you were spending too much time in the lab! Listening repeatedly to those pinch harmonics finally broke your appendix. Hope you're feeling much better soon. Take it easy, don't push too hard.

mick 87: LOL, no problem switching cars and bikes. Have you heard Jeff Beck's "Roy's Toy"? That's a serious sounding engine on that one. I'd like to do something like that.

Powerslave214: Hope everything works out ok at the doc.

TASTEY: Sorry about the house, but probably better off. Buying a house shouldn't be a rushed decision. You might have found yourself really freaking out a few months later.

Joeman9: What's up with you leaving?

Mikey Vai: I hadn't heard that about Tillman. Takes a special person to give up a life like he had to serve his country. Rest In Piece to him and all of our fallen soldiers. On a happier note, great review on ITLIS?

michelle: I had some seriously ridiculous creations lol. I was building my ultimate device when I quit smoking last fall. It had an electronic pump that was operated by a twist throttle, like a bike. I had all the tubing and pump hid inside of a Ducati motorcycle fuel tank. I was just waiting on a seat and I would have had the first pipe you could sit on like a bike and throttle up to increase the flow lol.

juju808: Haha, yeah there isn't anything dumb about them at all lol. They know just how to get attention. The poor guy was whining all night, I think he tried to eat an anemone which stings a bit. He seems to be doing better now, so I guess he learned his lesson about salt water and it's inhabitants lol. At least there wasn't another green bologna incident.

Wow, slow day around these parts. Everyone must have spent the day outside or something. Good for them.

GODGUNSGUITARS: I see, you're kind of based out of Louisiana and just go where the work is for long term temporary jobs. That's cool. Interesting way to see the country. Ever do any work overseas?

Jazzy Boy: There are definitely some darker moods reflected on this album. Here's my deductions: First off, Gnaahh is getting the party started, then the roof is on fire with Up In Flames so the parties really kicking and everyone puts their Hands In The Air, but some chic pisses Joe off cause she's drinking a bunch of tequila and chain smoking so he's had it with her Lifestyle and then the party's over. So now, he's sitting around an empty house, contemplating big things like Is There Love In Space? and then starts dreaming If I Could Fly and realizes he can't and gets pissed again so out come The Souls Of Distortion. That makes him feel a little better so he starts to Just Look Up when he sees bad weather coming so he shouts, I Like The Rain. Now it's raining and dark and he's Searching for something he just can't find, but when he does, he's gonna box it up in a cage made of Bamboo. By this time, it's time to hit a Waffle House for a late night breakfast and then hit the sack. When he gets home, he finds what he was searching for: Dog With Crown And Earring. He starts laughing so hard he takes a Tumble down the stairs.

Zenfish: Sounds like a plan to me. Every time you mention Ed's swing, I can't help but think of the song Top Jimmy. "Top Jimmy cooks, Top Jimmy swings...

Delfino Pie: Is that the solo Morello does switching back and forth between pickups with his picking hand while doing one handed legato with the other? If so, that's just a standard Gibson style setup. Well, Zach beat me to it lol. Another option is to get a volume pedal and just have a really quick foot. That'll do the same thing.

YaYo: What's up with the Manning trade? I haven't seen anything. I'm going thru NFL withdrawls about now. Guess I'll have to do a little reading in the sports section. Have to weave my way thru all the basketball and baseball stuff. I hate this time of year lol.

kell: Yeah, I was messing with one of the tanks and had everything out in separate buckets for a while. I heard him drinking and before I even turned around he was yelping from the sting lol. That'll learn him. I like freshwater stuff too. I have a couple of 55 gallon freshwater tanks. On reef tanks, people always say to you, "Oh no, it's not bad. The initial cost is a little more but after that, it's easier and about the same money as freshwater." That's complete bullshit. From special lights to grow the reef, a cabinet full of chemicals and testing equipment, spending thousands on the live rock and corals themselves, spending crazy money on fish that may or may not live a week and if they do may eat the invertebrates, to having to have a separate isolation tank, reverse osmosis, deionizer, curing salt water before you can use it, it's just nuts. How in the hell I ever got started on salt water I don't know. Actually, I think Miranda wanted a purple fish. A four dollar purple and yellow damselfish has cost me more money than I'll admit lol.

Austin: How's this round going? I'm anxious about seeing some of the results, lots of good battles on this one.

Christians should be allowed to pray in schools as long as all of the people following all of the religions also get the opportunity to worship their gods. Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Chinese Folk Religions, New Asian Religions, Tribal Religions, Judaism, Sikhism, Shamanists, Spiritism, Confucianism, Baha'i Faith, Shinto, Wicca, Zorastrianism and any other religions I may have omitted. Scientologists and Atheists should be allowed to meditate or whatever it is they want to do. Two thirds of the world's population is non Christian. Statistically speaking, if there are 91,285 members here, 60,857 of them are not Christians.

Well, I've done it again. I had another one of those wonderful jams where I could just do no wrong, ideas flying out of my fingers left and right. Fell into a groove and just loved what was coming out of my amp. Kept thinking, "Man this riff really kicks, one of my best ideas in a long time!" I was so excited. I quickly hit record to catch the inspired moment so that I could work out an arrangement later. I recorded six minutes of heavy riffing, weaving in and out of the simple, catchy, badass riff. Jumping from rhythm to lead and back again, floating on air at the number of great ideas coming out. Then I sat down to give it a listen and found to my horror that I had just rewritten Vai's The Attitude Song! Shit. Time to catch up and clear my head of that tune.

GODGUNSGUITARS: Good luck with the move, hope everything works out well.

Jazzy Boy: Yeah, I'll have to do another album story soon lol. Sometime when I'm not so far behind on posts, this one is gonna be big enough I think.

Austin: AOL indeed inhales quite profusely. And I passed the third grade quite well, mixed up Vermont and New Hampshire somehow, but other than that I was good to go lol. Also, great review, I need to listen to it and check out your references to see you're talking about what I think you are.

OME: I know I've said this a thousand times, but it won't be much longer, I promise. The devil is in the details lol.

mick87: You definitely have to pick up Beck's You Had It Coming, that disc kicks. Rolling and Tumbling is probably my favorite tune on that one.

Delfino Pie: Some multi effects units have an effect built in like what you are talking about. My GNX3 does, they call it a Stutter and you can adjust the speed of the stuttering with the expression pedal, it's pretty nifty to do crazy stuff with. Hard to believe I haven't written a song around that effect lol. Oh, and to help your hand heal, lay off the guitar for a week or two. Completely. No cheating. Just learn some theory and study time signatures or something. A few weeks is nothing compared to a lifetime.

Satrionik: Nietzsche said that about music and he was a genius of sorts. A very cynical one, but a genius nonetheless.

juju808: I like your ITLIS? story too lol. We both have way too much time on our hands lol.

marimariSRV: I'm feeling pretty good right now, earlier today wasn't so good, but I'm all about the right now lol.

death cube K: That's cool you had a good time at the Godin thing. Do you like their product anymore than before now? Or have all of your suspicions been confirmed lol. Been working on any new tunes lately?

michelle: I think you might be right about why Joe doesn't come here lol. It's Grizz telling him, "Hey man, don't go play there. They mistreat my kind there, strange folk." If Grizz only knew how good my dog has it! I'd kill to have the life my dog does. He has his own room with a private door that's heated in the winter, cooled in the summer. An endless supply of treats and bones. His own swimming pool to hang out in. What more does a dog need? Well, he'd probably say his testicles, but he doesn't really know how much trouble those things really are lol.

Clarky: We be missin the same old stupid you that we all know to avoid lol. Who else are we gonna avoid? We're out here swerving recklessly without warning just out of habit lol.

VFRrocker: The rock definitely didn't go for him, but it defended itself very well. On the rock was an anemone that is basically a small jellyfish that doesn't really swim around much. The poor dog took it right on the nose I believe. He's doing much better now and won't be sticking his head in any buckets any time soon lol. And dammit, I had the Nietzsche quote answer for dude lol. Beat me too it.

Adrianorb: That's cool news indeed on the DT DVD, I'll have to get that. Thanks for the head's up. As far as Satch songs, I'm the wrong guy to ask because I don't play any of them so they're all hard for me I guess lol.

Master Yoda: Congrats on the 7, sounds cool. One of these days I'll get myself one.

Ga60: Thanks for posting that vid of Satch and Timmons, that was awesome. Talk about good communication between two guys jamming. He has to do a G3 tour! Timmons for G3 05!

Zachary: I was so tempted to bust out some Carlin in the middle of that conversation, but for some reason, I held back. I don't know why, it's very unlike me. Oh well, a missed opportunity but I'm sure I'll have the chance again lol.

Alexandre: Hope the leg heals soon man, didn't realize it was that serious. Take it easy for a while and take the time to attend to your six string duties.

Matt King: Wow man, lots shaking in your neck of the woods. Glad to see you're finally going to make it to Jemfest, I know it's been a long time coming.

Quito: Glad you enjoyed Living Colour, I'm very happy to hear they're still kicking ass.

Mikey Vai: It sounds like you have so many new cds to listen to you just don't know what to do lol. That happens to me sometimes, I'll go crazy and buy a bunch at once and can't figure out what I want to listen to first!

Well, lots to catch up on, as usual. I really need to stay on top of this place more often.

OME: Cool Petrucci story, I guess that thing about hindsight being 20/20 is right huh?

Zenfish: EVH, Satch and SRV? I could easily babble on incessantly about any one of those three, I'll have to break it down in small bits so as not to overwhelm everyone here lol. I'll start with EVH tomorrow.

death cube K: When I bought my first new guitar, which was a Godin, many moons ago, the sales guy told me that they built necks for a shitload of different companies. I hadn't remembered that until I read your post. Can't wait to hear your new tunes man. I'm working on one at the moment somewhat inspired by Joe's new album. Heavy blues based rock. A little heavier than Joe, but definitely bluesy. Working title is Wallpaper Stripping Blues, cause I'm stripping all the wallpaper in my kitchen and that job sucks ass. I hope that whomever invented wallpaper died a miserable death. Not really. But I'm pretty pissed at them lol.

VFRrocker: So how's your favorite V4 doing?

OCPS470: Yeah, Vai definitely does a lot of showboating on the Astoria DVD lol. When I saw him live he didn't do half of that stuff, no costume changes or any of that bit, so I'm guessing a lot of it had to do with the filming and a lot of had to do with memories of playing with DLR coming back lol.

Mikey Vai: Ahh, decisions, decisions. I feel your pain! It kinda like going to the grocery store when you're really hungry and you buy a whole bunch of junk food you don't need. You get home with it all and you just can't decide what you want to eat first lol.

962: Yeah, it sucks thinking you've come up with something really cool only to find out it was done twenty years ago by someone else lol. The worst case of this has to be Vai playing Bangkok. The explanation on the commentary track of the Astoria DVD was hilarious.

UF Dean: Well, I'm not sure I'd put anything past Sony lol.

Zachary: Thanks man, one of these days I'm gonna check out your neck of the woods. I'll take a two month bike ride to check out the country and that area is definitely on my list.

michelle: Yeah, I was all excited about that song lol, so many jam possibilities, it could have been my opus lol. Oh well, I'll just have to rewrite Woodstock Jam next time lol.

Alexandre: I'm doing very well at the moment, hard to even think of asking for more. Might be going back to work soon, doing some work around the house and I'm playing my guitar more and more again which is always a good thing. Fingers aren't quite 100% but I'm getting there, expect a new song by the end of the week.
