Its Stu not Boo: I'm probably just talking out my ass. It's been years since I've listened to it so I guess I'm going off the distorted memories of past. I think I still have it somewhere, I'll dig it out and give it a listen sometime. I do remember one song on it that I liked very much, can't remember the title though. Maybe it came after the instrumental, or before or hell, maybe it was the instrumental, I don't know.

Matt: Do you have a list of who is supposed to be covering certain songs? I might consider doing something, but don't want to step on any toes/have to compete with someone else over the same song. (cause i'd lose)

Jstrat57: Lol on the guitar shop comment. Be careful in there, you just might get your ass kicked.

Austin: I found it (VH3) in my old cassettes with a bunch of other cool stuff I had forgotten about. Now I just gotta find my tape player, it's somewhere in this mess. Other found gems were my Aerosmith Live Bootleg, OU812, and some Concrete Blonde.

I put another song up today. Had to take one down, as 30 is the limit at iuma, so I took town Continientia. Probably be taking down Critical Mass tomorrow if I write something tonight. Anyway, new tune is called Absolut Screwdriver and it's a simple little jam. If you guys feel like it, check it out along with some of the others.

Clarky: Thanks for putting up the theory posse stuff. I've been reading thru some of it (that which is not too far over my head) and am on my way to a musical epiphany. Who knows, I might just learn the proper way to play the guitar! lol.

Austin: Found a little boom box in the basement and listened to VH3. I listened to "How Many Say I", and I blame you. Just kidding. I listened to the whole CD and I still don't care that much for it. There are a lot of good ideas and great riffs or nice little intros but it just all goes to hell when Gary opens his mouth. Not his tone, just his lyrics I guess. And in most songs, the chorus just makes me cringe. Now, am I saying I could've done better? Hell no! I can prove that I can't. "From Afar" and "Dirty Water Dog" are pretty cool. And for some reason, that I don't understand, I like "Once". "Primary" is pretty nifty and "Ballot or the Bullet" showed promise. Perhaps it's the backup singing I don't like or maybe I just feel jaeded for listening to "How Many Say I". I don't know. All in all, I give it a C-.

Yayo: Don't get me wrong, I don't hate Roth. I have Eat 'em & Smile, Skyscraper and A Little Aint Enough, and for the most part like them for what they are: Goofy goodtime rock & roll.

JSClone1: Thanks man, you praise overwhelms me and giveth the allmighty Bighead. I'm afraid I sent all my money to death cube K, though, sorry. However, I am in the process of furthering my music education by learning some scales, and what notes I'm playing, just bare bones basic stuff really. Tell me if you think this is a good idea: I drew exact duplicates of my guitar neck (including frets that are the correct size) complete with strings and fret markers. I have a copy for each scale I want to learn. Then I marked on the frets each note of the particular scale (ex:Phygian Dominate in D) for the entire fretboard. I hang 'em up over my amp and practice, having a full scale model for reference. It seems to be working out, but I just did it today so too early to tell.

Cleetus: It may be late tomorrow before your cat is over the anethesia, so try not to worry too much. I know how ya feel though, pets in many ways are like children. Except you don't have to worry about them running around with the wrong crowd and getting into drugs and smarting off and, well, they're not that much like kids but I'm sure you get the point.

Sorry everyone for the lengthy post, too much caffeine I guess. Later all. Tru.

Matt: Thanks for the invite. Check your mail, song is done and delivered. Finally. At four in the morning, but what else was I gonna do, watch QVC?

JSClone1: Thanks for the advice man. One step ahead of ya, I made a chart for that too.

Nose of Sauron: That would explain it. lol. The new issue of Guitar World has a big thing on Eddie and the old days. Apparently he was occasionally lead vocalist before Dave came around. Alex said he couldn't cut it.

Austin: Yeah, I know what you mean. It kind of paints a picture for ya. I guess that's why I like it.

OK, I'm going to bed, good night, or morning, or whatever the hell it is to everyone.

Local Person: Temporarily Retired! Well, sort of. I managed the Parts and Accessories dept. of a Honda/Kawasaki/Suzuki/KTM/Sherco dealership for just under 8 years. Got burned out working 60-70 hours everyweek and for the longes time having to deal with young punks for employees. I did manage to put a good crew together before I left that actually care about what they're doing and things went really smooth. Anyway, my dad retired ten years ago and was never able to do anything do to his arthritis. My mom died at 53. The combination of those too things made me realize that if I want to enjoy life, I should do it now. Been off since 19 October and I'm finally bored with it. Will be starting work soon in a factory that produces parts for Toyota. Boring job but excellent benefits.

Looks like Matt got my tribute song up at the satch tribute site. Hope to see more of you guys on there too.

Stu Clone: Damn cool man. Really killer stuff there. You and Matt should collaberate on something.

Matt: Awesome. Never cease to amaze.

death cube K: Thanks, I wanted it to sound a little different, hence the slide on the bass and the pedal steel.

Narface: Cool pic isn't it. What I thought was cool was the fender resonator he has (black). It's cool cause it's identical to mine. That Vai, always trying to copy me lol.

Invigor: Jimmy Page once said something along the lines of: "If your going to cover one of my tunes, change it up and see where you can take it. Everyone already knows what I did with it, why not see what you can do with it." That's the reason he was so happy with that Puff Daddy atrocity, but hey, he did something different with it.

Invigor: I'm sorry man, I had just woke up on the couch after just a few hours sleep and my body's stiff and sore. Didn't mean to take it out on you. You're entitled to your opinion just as much as I am mine. I don't want to make any enemies here, or anywhere for that matter, so please accept my apology for being a smartass.

Ovation: Abducted by aliens? You can't be serious. I have a good friend that's cool as hell. He's a big Rush fan and we can talk about bikes and music for hours on end. But, one night after a party, he starts on this abduction stuff. He honestly beleives he was abducted 30 years ago! He and his brother both tell the same story. It's kind of spooky. Now he follows all that kind of stuff on the radio and the net. Always showing me articles and quoting these broadcasts. He's convinced. Anyone here been abducted?

Cleetus: I tend to agree with you in most cases, but this guy is convinced. He's been telling me this crap for almost 10 years now. And it's not like he's trying to get his story in the papers or anything. I guess he had some strange dream as a kid and just bought into all this hype. But yeah, the folks you see on tv and in the papers are just glory hounds, I agree a 100% with ya on that.

LGU: Yeah check it out when you get a chance. Also check out DannyK's Crush of Love and Matt's Crystal Planet. Awesome stuff there.

Unbelievable about Columbia. Not only for the loss of life and the devastation to the crew members families. NASA never really got away from the stigma of the Challenger disaster and that was 17 years ago. Accidents like this not only crush spirits but funding as well. This will put the Mars mission back at least 10 years. What a shitty day.

Listening to Hemispheres cause it's just damn cool. Hope all you people going to the show tonight know how lucky you are.

Plum Loco: Check out your new tune, pretty cool. I hadn't listened to Slick New Hair Do or Arabian Dance of Fools yet either. Really like those two. Keep it up!

Matt: Great looking site man. Did you do all of that yourself?

Sharif: Never seen that before but I see the culprit. Some guy named Sharif Iman also has a site there. If you search for "Sharif" it brings him up with the song :On Fire (rough), then you go into his page and there is only one song called Diamonds. Kinda screwy, sounds like you need to talk to iuma about it.

Michelle: Sounds like you got off lucky. You know, once you're abducted, the chances of it happening again go up ten-fold. lol

Ethn: Amen brother!

Edit: Sharif, on your site, even under the wrong titles, it still plays your songs. But my stuff is all folded up too. On my site it lists the correct song titles, but if I go to artist uplink, same as you no songs listed. Also, my stats page lists all my songs as being titled On Fire! WTF!?!

Invigor: I don't think anyone thought you were dumb, just wrong in this case. Of course it is impossible to be wrong in matters of opinion so who's dumb now. I see the point you were trying to make though. If I tried to do a cover of say Crushing Day, it would be like you said, I couldn't do it so I made up something else. But where you and I differ is that I wouldn't want to do a note for note cover of Crushing Day. You seem to be using the original song as a grading scale where I see it as a starting point. Also, Guitar Secrets is a great book. What little of it I understand has helped tremendously.

I don't get the Satch/Vai bashing that's out there either. Maybe it's because as far a instumentalists go, these guys have had long, consistently sucessful careers. I don't know though, I just don't get it. Nice word improv there Ethn, way to wangle that lick!

My iuma is still screwy. Anyone besides Sharif and I having these problems. Same as last night, actual page looks fine but in artist uplink, no songs listed and in stat page all songs called on fire.

Heading to my grandmother's this morning. She wants to hear some of my music so I made her a grandma friendly cd. That was interesting.

I had forgotten what that color looked like, welcome back Jon.

Sharif and all other iuma users: Iuma has evidently been hacked or something. The crap Sharif and I were talking about has happened to literally everyone there. Can only assume we will either be getting email from them tomorrow or there will be a popup message stating the cause of this crap. As far as I can tell, all songs are still there and able to be downloaded but some sites list the titles as On Fire (rough). The original audio has not been affected.

Iuma update. Life appears to be good again over at iuma. According to a post on the message board they still don't know what happened. They have or are in the process of reloading the database from a back-up, so if anyone has uploaded anything new there in the last couple days, it might not be there when it they get done. Artist uplink will be down for the better part of today.
