Question for Joe: have you ever considered approaching Eddie Van Halen to be part of G3? I hear that he and Alex are coming out with a vocal-less album in the near future.

Anyone know if the Rockline interview on October 1st with Joe, Steve, and Yngwie will be available to listen to online afterwards?

I live in Colorado and we used to get Rockline, but I don't think we do any more.

Any info would be much appreciated.

Do the Stu - Thanks for your help - looks like 107.7 The Bone out of California broadcasts Rockline. I sent an email to them to confirm.

Can't wait to see G3 in Denver on October 20th. I've seen them with Eric Johnson and John Petrucci, both great, but I think this one will be their best tour yet

achoo: I'd have to say Joe and Steve are equally gifted musically and creatively and how they make you FEEL the music. I go back and forth between them as favorites, depending on my mood. Yngwie is great, but not even in the same league, imho. Of course, Eddie Van Halen started it all, in terms of the shred-factor, but he's so out of touch with his fans these days.

Luke the Duke: 8:30 Pacific is 11:30 Eastern

Clarky: Have you ever seen Vai live before? He doesn't play everything just like the CD from what I've seen - sure the majority of the song is like the CD, but what are you gonna do, play fans' favorite songs totally different from what they wanna hear to the point that it doesn't even sound like the original? Not harping on you, just my opinion.

Has anyone bought Sammy Hagar's "Long Road to Cabo" DVD? I just got my copy and it's great.

The one DVD I can't stop watching, though, has to be Joe's Live in SF. And I preordered Steve's Live at Astoria (should be killer).

Do the Stu - the Sammy DVD is brand spankin' new - it's got 2 DVDs, but I've just watched the first one so far...lots of good live music with some backstage antics and interviews with band members, Sammy talking trash about DLR, etc. Mikey (Michael Anthony) is in a lot of it and said something about the Van Halen brothers and referred to them as Beavis and Butthead (hilarious!). Gary Cherone actually sings a Led Zeppelin song with Sammy. I think the 2nd DVD contains all of Sammy's videos and all kinds of extras, like showing him cooking or making margaritas or something. From what I've seen, I highly recommend it

Clarky - good point on the improvising, I actually totally agree with what you said & I can't wait for the first 10 minutes of improv Steve does

Stu M - Steve's live DVD will be released Oct 21st - you can preorder it at amazon.com

Sweet news about the Denver show being recorded...I'll be there for that. My bro couldn't join me for the concert, so he'll be pleasantly surprised

Rufko - when he said "this is *I* Yngwie J", he meant "this is me, Yngwie" to make it clear who was talking, although pretty obvious since he's the only one with a Swedish accent. J is his middle initial, though don't know what it stands for.

I'm sure it's because English isn't Yngwie's first language that he says "I" sometimes when he should say "me" and vice versa, but that's one of my pet peeves...most native English speakers screw that one up all the time, too.

Sammy Andrews - I guess I don't see what makes you think Vai has an ego; sure, he's allowed one being as awesome as he is, but from every interview I've seen with him he seems very humble and easy to get along with...heck, if he can get along with David Lee Roth for 2 albums, he must be pretty laid-back

And I don't think he's out to out-play anyone, but he naturally will with his amazing talent (although I like Joe equally)

I really think the only ego on this tour is Yngwie, but from the Rockline interview, he seemed to have a great sense of humor, so maybe he's mellowing out as he gets older

Anyone here ever been to Cabo San Lucas for Sammy Hagar's annual birthday bash in October? I'm thinking of taking my wife there next year for her 30th birthday and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a place to stay down there and share any good or bad experiences they've had there. I know this has nothing to do with Satch or G3, but you guys seem open-minded enough to discuss other things. Thanks for any info...

Awe - I have to admit, I have a hard time remembering song titles of Joe's last few albums...I like them all, but his first 3 (Not of this Earth, Surfing, and Flying) really did it for me. I've been more into Steve Vai's stuff lately. Have you heard his song Boston Rain Melody? I could listen to that over and over again just like I could with Flying in a Blue Dream, especially when he does that crazy tapping solo...it's fast playing but it really touches you, like the fast stuff in Flying and I Believe. That's what sets these guys apart from everyone - not only do they have the chops, but they really say stuff with their music and make it all make sense and bring you into their world.

Fretslayer - dude, that's you?? Those songs are wicked! You must practice constantly. I play guitar, but I'm just a little fetus compared to the stuff you play. Wow, man, I'm impressed.

Anyone going to see Paco De Lucia in concert? I don't know much of his stuff, but I've got a CD with him and Al Dimeola on it and it's pretty cool. He's coming to Boulder, CO on Feb.6

Ya Yo Gaak - Sure, Sammy's kinda like Jimmy Buffet now, but he still can rock and his tequila has won awards although it IS overpriced

I can't remember who asked about the October 4th show, but here's the description of it (it wasn't a G3 show):

04 Sat B.R. Cohn Winery Glen Ellen, CA US A special charity event for Valley of the Moon Children's Home where Joe plays along with the Doobie Brothers, the Turtles, and Switchblade Nixon. THIS IS NOT A G3 SHOW.

Do the Stu - good point about the setlist being the same as G3; that's probably very likely

Aliensynergy - did you get an email saying you didn't win backstage tickets or did you just not hear anything? Just wondering what to expect...

Bells of Lal (part 2) for G3!!!

Fretslayer - right on! Another good one would be Killer Beebop or just about anything off of his self-titled album with the red cover (good bluesy album)
