HEY JOE... WHERE YOU GOIN'... WITH THAT... GUITAR IN YOUR HAND??? ;-P
Got to meet you in Bellevue and Portland, for the clinic. This is Darren.. the one you forgot my name. haha! No worries. Like many others, I lost my mind when it was my time to meet you. Hope it wasn't too awkward, me giving you my email address, hoping for one lesson. :-) I wanted to mention, but didn't, because there were too many peeps waiting... that I play by ear and have been called a creative genius and have been told that I have perfect pitch and have the "spirit of the spree's" whatever that is.. but the person that said I had it, said you did too. So.. anyway.. my mom got a full scholarship to the University of Washington for Viola, but never got to pursue it because of my dad. She did however get to play in the Bellevue Philharmonic for a little while, before he stopped that too. Anyway.. just trying to give you an idea of what's inside me. Maybe to help my cause? ;-) So.. I've just finally.. after 36 years.. have realized, that I'm an artist. I was in a band doing some covers, but then my singer died from an overdose and I sold my guitar and forgot it all. But now, I've been back at it for a few years.. teaching myself. Like everything. I learn better from understanding something. People have said my music is extraordinary, but I just haven't been able to put together whole songs. I've been not listening to much music at all, lately.. working on my own style. (except your new cd, of course! :-) I've got a ton of original pieces, recorded and waiting to do something with them. It's been that when I pick up the guitar, I can only write new stuff. Like, sculpt a piece and move on. Sculpt another piece and move on. Fun, but frustrating, because I want to make full songs. I don't really want lessons from anyone, but you. If not you.. I'll continue my pace and eventually make something. But to learn some things from you.. I could take them with me and use them as tools and stepping stones. And an idea of my music.. I'm writing lyrics to help heal the human spirit.. to help inspire and get people to Loving again. A big part, is the way kids are treated and such. So...
Here's something I wrote, down below. Hopefully all this isn't overkill or annoying.. but.. I gotta try just once, or twice.., yes? :-)
Thank you for signing my guitar, Joe! Even if it is the Tom DeLonge Strat and not an Ibanez. ;-P I wrote a cool new piece, the first time I played it since you signed it. :-)
Take care, Joe.
Sincerely,
Darren Alexander
love is
just tell yourself that you're alright
you're gonna make a difference
you're gonna find your light
just hold on strong now
it won't disappear
love is the answer
your heart still dances
that feeling inside
you know it's clear
love is..
opening a door
love is helping someone
you've never seen before
it isn't weak
it fight's every day
and when we find our match
when you find the one
when your heartbeat's catch
when you find someone...
love is something different
it is so much fun
love is walking hand in hand
it's a song in the garden
love's a blanket on the sand
love is saying sorry
or listening to their side
love is not afraid
it will not die
so just tell yourself that you're alright
you're gonna make a difference
you're gonna find your light
