Very excited about the CD and release party tonight, with a perfromance! Hope to meet some more of the band members. Carried on a running conversation with Matt at the Ventura theatre show last year. We were all but sitting on the stage. Joe seems a little too busy during the show to talk to random audience members! I did stand right in front of Joe at the Medina (MN) show about 2 years ago. Nice low stage, My head was at the same level as his 4 x 12 bottom, couldn't hear right for 2 days.

HEY JOE: do you ever give lessons any more? If we chat at all tonight, that is my question.

Very good show last night in Los Angeles... started with Super Colossal lots of both new and old mixed in, and the Joe stayed around FOREVER signing discs.

Wonderful and THANKS SO MUCH JOE!

I did ask Joe if he still teaches... alas, no but it was great chatting for just a second.

Saw the LA show last night.

Eric Johnson warmed up. Amazing player, seemed a little off, but what a talent. Highlight was his solo piece leading into Cliffs of Dover, totally on fire.

Joe..... Amazing, as always. Band sounded great, can hear how much tighter since the Wet LA CD release party. LOTS of old stuff, was kind of getting antsy that they weren’t going to play any new stuff and then they nailed most of Super Colossal. Joe's pedal did the SAME thing it did at the West LA gig. I thought "OK he is doing that on purpose". No, Joe said the pedal only did that twice the entire tour, both times in LA!

Encore: great crowd chant, awesome jam. Brought back Eric and Steve Vai came out. We knew the whole night Vai was in the house, his Ibanez was off stage.. gee, who plays the guitar with the funny "grip handle"? They played "I'm going down" which is the same song we saw Jeff Beck and SRV jam on two nights before SRV's accident. Great memories .. seeing now 5 of the all time great rip it up on this warhorse. Eric broke out some blues and everybody smoked. Great great show!

Aftershow (courtesy of THIS WEBSITE... THANKS ALL!!!).. awesome! Jeff came back and chatted like he just had nothing better to do than talk to a fan about delay lines and drum monitors..awesome, Dave LaRue chatted with us about his amps and being in this great group and then Joe came in, everybody else was gone, we got pictures, got old pictures signed. I figured he was tired and would want to go right away. I think he would have stayed all night! Thanks Joe, an amazing player and a person! We talked old shows, guitars, kids.... everything. Could we have found more to talk about? Sure, but the guy has a bus ride up to San Francisco to look forward to... I was very pleased he chatted as long as he did... THANKS JOE...More than your music.. you...WOW!

GROWLER: One of my favorite memories.. Jeff Beck and SRV! First concert I took my (now) wife to. No tickets.. just hung out in front and got a couple from a guy who had extras... 2nd row dead center!

Going Down? SRV was singing so he let Jeff take it at first, amazing playing... more sounds than any one guitar should be allowed to make.. Stevie? smoked! Back and forth... pick one? Can't! Went out and bought a Strat the next day, put the 335 away, didn't touch it for years.

I would be loath to say either was "better" than the other, different for sure. Read here where somebody thought SRV could be repetitive at times, have to agree, but Beck must have inspired him this night. All blues lines but WOW! SRV was actually the 1st act with Beck taking the headline role, might have inspired him to "prove it!"

To think Stevie died about a week later.. total shock, sadness, disbelief. The memory is awesome though and to be able to connect it to the G3 jam at the Wiltern (LA).. amazing... totaly different, much more technical with the G3 jam, but the feeling still blazed through.. you know if there is no feeling behind it..who cares?

I started as a bassist and still do gigs on the low end but mainly play the guitar now..

Take care Growler
