Hey Joe...

Finally picked up the "G3 Live in Tokyo" CDs & DVD. Gr8 stuff (as always!). Nice choice of songs. Especially "Searching"! Brings back memories of the Keswick Theater shows (the "G3 show w/Steve & John", & the "Evening With..." show). Good times... yeah, good times!

Looking forward to the next G3 tour, CD, & DVD with Joe Bonamassa!!!

Hey Joe...

I was wondering about the song "Ten Words" and it's relation to the 9-11 attack. Does this have anything to do with the title?

L8r... =o|-[

In ten words, Donald Rumsfeld had confirmed our very worst fears about the Bush administration's reckless approach to Iraq. Looking at the article, it is obvious that CBS knew that the last few sentences were the key part of the quotation. Printed in bold letters, under a menacing photo of Rumsfeld, were the lines: "Go massive . . . Sweep it all up. Things related and not."

Gruskada...

I also thought "Ten Words" might relate to something said on the flight that crashed in PA. That's why I decided to see if there was a reference to "ten words" from that day. The only thing I found was the quote I posted, which was NOT what I expected. Anyways, I'm sure you are right & we will never know what 10 words Joe is referring to.

I did find something stange about "Crowd Chant". When I put the CD in my computer it came up being called Party On The Enterprise. Where did THAT come from?

BTW ~ I've gotta say that "Super Colossal" is my 2nd fav Satch CD (behind "The Extremist"). Gr8 work Joe!!!

Thanx. Didn't know that. Looks like SONY forgot to change the info encoded on the CD. I'll have to check it out on my car MP3 player & see what it is titled on there.

That Vai song was originally called "Cliffs of Insanity". It came out on a "Roland Guitar Masters" CD that came out in 2001. I'm not sure why he changed the title to "Essence" though.

Since the time posted on this forum says it's 9:08 instead of 12:08 I'm guessing it'll morph in another 3 hours. Guess I check in the morning.

G'nite!

I just saw this on Mike Portnoy's forum. Not sure where they got this info from since I don't see it posted on Satch's site yet (maybe I just haven't looked hard enough). Anyways, Gr8 news!!!

Over the course of his illustrious career, Joe Satriani has achieved legendary success with his 12 solo albums and three platinum DVDs selling more than 10 million units worldwide. On April 1, 2008, Satriani is set to continue his brand of electric education for the masses with the release of his 13th solo album entitled "Professor Satchafunkilus and the Musterion of Rock" (Sony/BMG).

Following the albums release, Satriani will embark on a worldwide tour, kicking off April 30 in Lisbon, Portugal before hitting the European market, Australia, South America and finally returning to the U.S. in the fall of 2008.

"Professor Satchafunkilus" was produced through the creative envisioning of Satriani and John Cuniberti; guiding the musical talents of longtime drummer/percussionist Jeff Campitelli and renowned bassist Matt Bissonette. A special addition to the album’s artist list is Joe's own son, ZZ Satriani, playing the tenor sax.

"Professor Satchafunkilus and the Musterion of Rock" track listing:

01. Musterion

02. Overdriver

03. I Just Wanna Rock

04. Professor Satchafunkilus

05. Revelation

06. Come On Baby

07. Out of the Sunrise

08. Diddle-y-a-doo-dat

09. Asik Vaysel

10. Andalusia

Over the last two decades, Satriani has traveled the world, playing to sold-out crowds as both a headliner and as founder of the all-star G3 guitar extravaganza. Of his 12 solo albums, two went platinum and four gold with 15 Grammy nominations between them. This year Joe is nominated for Best Rock Instrumental Performance for the song "Always With Me, Always With You" from his album, "Satriani Live!"

Last year marked the 20th anniversary of his groundbreaking album "Surfing with the Alien" and was commemorated with new expanded edition in a meticulously restored two-disc set including the newly re-mastered album and a never-before-seen live show filmed at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1988.

Joe Satriani will be the featured guest on the nationally syndicated radio show "Rockline", hosted by Bob Coburn, airing Wednesday, April 2 at 11:30 p.m. EST/8:30 p.m. PST. Hey Michelle...

Busy, but very good! Hope the same for you. I don't visit here much anymore, but I'm still one of the UN (although the list has been pretty much dead for a looooong time). I don't post there anymore but I do still read what's going on.

Let's start hoping for a Keswick show for the next tour!

Take care.

John

Igneousiceman: Gr8 video. I was actually at that show. It was the first time I saw Joe Bonamassa perform. Been following him ever since (19 years now) & he keeps on getting better! I just saw him play 10 daze ago near his hometown & it was the best show yet! I actually gave him a copy of that video (including the song Danny Gatton did before he gave his guitar to JoeB to play) after the show. It sounded like he didn't have it already, although he did see it on uTube. I've seen him play probably over 40 times over the years. Joe Bonamassa should DEAFinitely be on the next G3!!!

OK, this sucks. I thought the bonus track was gonna be on the CD. When I realized it wasn't a hidden track I went to iTunes to download it and I can't d/l it as a track (I have to d/l the entire CD). Come on, this just can't be. Is this available to purchase individually?

Otherwise, this CD is awesome! I normally hate these digi-pack cases (is that the correct term?), BUT this one is VERY COOL. I love the heat sensitive cover. Great idea.

Thanx for the heads-up Joe! Guess I'll have to stay up and watch Jimmy Fallon on Monday.

Anybody out there that likes kick@$$ Rock~n~Blues should check out Joe Bonamassa's NEW CD "Black Rock" that'll be released on March 23rd. His next NEW CD "Black Country" (with Glenn Hughes, Jason Bonham, & Derek Sherinian) is supposed to come out later this year. If you haven't heard of him yet, you should DEAFinitely give him a listen.

Cappy Steve: I'll 2nd your comments about Joe Bonamassa. I was lucky enough to catch him perform over 20 years ago when he was only 12 years old. Been following him ever since. Somehow he just keeps on getting better (Live @ Royal Albert Hall is is best yet imho). His new CD "Black Rock" comes out next month (the 23rd). If you pre-order it, they'll ship it to you 2 weeks earlier. Needless to say, I already pre-ordered it and am anxiously awaiting its arrival. If you're interested in it check out Black Rock CD. Free shipping too on all pre-orders.

He's also at work on a new project with Glenn Hughes, Jason Bonham, & Derek Sherinian, called (as of now) "Black Country" ~ named after the area where Bonham & Hughes grew up. That one is supposed to be out around September of this year.

Things are looking up for Smokin' Joe! Now I'd like to see him tour with the next G3.

anikblues: I agree that Joe Bonamassa should be part of the next G3. His new CD Black Rock is being released March 23rd. If you're interested in getting it shipped 2 weeks early and with free shipping, you can pre-order it at the link above.

Hey Joe... What's your thoughts on Joe Bonamassa? Any chance on including him in an upcoming G3 tour? BTW ~ I'm the guy who got you the signed copies of his first couple of CDs. Keeping fingers crossed to see you guys play together one of these daze.

I'll 2nd the idea for Joe Bonamassa for the next G3. That video of him playing in Danny Gatton's band when he was only 12 years old was actually the 1st time I ever saw him perform. I was hooked instantly. His new CD "Black Rock" is coming out on the 23rd of March. If you preordered it before yesterday it shipped 2 weeks early and with free postage/handling. Needles to say, I got my order in. Don't know what the deal is now that the dealine passed, but if you're interested in buying it check out: BLACK ROCK
