Security at the Portland show were jerks IMHO. I can understand being an ass if someone like Slayer or Pantera was playing but for the most part they're musclehead idiots. Anyhow, look forward to seeing MegaBoyd and the crew in S.F. for the Filmore show. laterz

--> MegaBoyd, if you don't see my review, thanks for hanging with me. It was alot of fun and the aftershow was awesome. Email me if/when you make it up to OR/WA as I'd like to hang with ya. Otherwise I'll catch you next time I'm down in SF. laterz

ok, time for another informal poll. Out of G3, Time Machine, and LISF which guitar tone(s) do you prefer the most? Also, for those who have bootlegs and imports, please feel free to offer input...

I saw KISS once, which was enuf, especially since I had to wear hearing protection cause of all the damn pyro. The roman candles on the headstock of Ace's Les Paul and the sparks that were emitted from his middle pickup were pretty entertaining. I can't really say it was a great show but the production was alright. All in all, ppl should keep an open mind about music and respect it even if it's something they wouldn't want to listen to at home, IMHO.

If you go to The Bone's website (S.F. radio station 107.7) www.1077thebone.com I think they still stream their radio station on the web. My guess from looking at their website, Sammy Hagar is on Rockline tonight playing live from his studio in Marin w/ special guests?? So I'm betting one might be Joe =)

I think Joe mentioned some of the pedals he used on the 2nd disc of the DVD? Otherwise my guess would be a fulltone ultimate octave pedal. Goto www.guitargeek.com and it'll show his 2000 setup

You may want to look into DiMarzio HS-2 single coil pickups. These are the same that Eric Johnson uses in his strats. I'm going to grab two myself to go along with the FRED that's in my bridge. Anyway hope that helps...

The EVH Ernie Ball guitars are da bomb. My ex-roommate's bud has one of the last they ever made w/ the tabacco finish (color is sorta like the Balance disc). Sounds better (not by too much though) than the top of the line EVH peavy side by side.

LOL! that's funny. BTW, how old are your teachers? When I was in MN most of my teachers were in college going to school as music performance majors. Thankfully they understood my musical tastes even though they also knew I could hardly play (still can't) the stuff I listened to

In regards to Crushing Day, I don't know how much of it is related to the difference in the style of play that Joe has now, compared to when he composed it. After Boyd and I talked with him that evening at the Filmore I was left with the impression that certain songs just go over better in a band context/crowd response than others. The question was posed why doesn't he play Engines Of Creation and Joe mentioned that he wanted to but trying to get thru it with the band was difficult.
I can understand his point in both cases of Crushing and EOC because if you listen to the actual rhythm sections going on the background, they don't seem to invite alot of band play from the other members. So unless you arrange a song to be fun for everyone to play besides the audience, by the 5th tour date you'd prob. be going out of your mind if you had to play.. OVER AND OVER. LOL!
In any case, that's my .02. MegaBoyd, if you have anything you'd like to add, feel free
