Hello everyone,I just finished searching or scanning through all the posts I missed in december....I came across A message where someone had stated they could not quite grasp the satch right hand over the top move as in The Mystical Potato Head Groove Thang and Cool #9 etc..I would Like to offer a tip or two to help out all my fellow guitarists.Ok here is how I look at it....Although the right hand crossing over the left creates a bizzare and effective illusion most of the juice for this one is in the left hand...I can tell you to practice things like left hand hammer-ons and pull-offs as well as left hand chromatic exercises, try playing some arpeggio chords using just the left hand......Ok although the juice is in the left hand for this one the drive is in the right hand......I think of it as though my right hand is playing harmonics....Let us use the third fret as in The Mystical.now try this exercise.Using the side of your right index finger which is facing your thumb touch the low E string at the third fret, this should feel like you are plying a harmonic with your right index...I know strange but you will get it besides you are not actually playing a harmonic here you are simply muting the string..Now that the side of your right index is touchig the low E at the third fret try playing a hammer-on from the 5th fret to the 6th with your left hand...cool sound huh....once you have grasped this try moving your right index down so it covers both the E and A strings simultaneously, repeat the left handed hammer-ons the 5th and 6th fisrst on the E then on the A........Continue this on through E A D G B E.....You'll soon get it....keep at it..I suggest and this is very important to try the exercise with your right hand off the fret board but remember that the correct way to play this is with your right thumb firmly but gently grasping the neck and your rigt index barely touching the strings...you'll soon have a fantastic right-handed harmonic mute....thanx for reading I hope I showed you something and I apologize to all advanced and professional guitarists..........BON VOYAGE.....

HEY,JazzyMood im no satch, but I have a few clinical tips for you.....If you were talking about aerobic exercises I would recommend anythig be Jane Fonda, make sure its a Jane Fonda workout tape and not a Bridgit Fonda movie, which would likely only aggeravate you more.ok.If you meant finger exercices try these......first try to relax your hands, you will probably find the right hand easier to relax if you are stronger with it and the left hand harder..or vice versa if you are stronger with the left.....but this is only my theory...needless to say relax them both........classical and jazz players seem to play with extrodinarily tense bodies and fingers....Try some hammer-ons in legato form as there is much less tear in your tendons with a hammer-on then there is with a pull-off....try this.....strike the first fret on the low E string with your index then hammer-on the 3rd fret with your third finger and then the 4th fret with your fourth finger..continue this all the way down the fret board on the low E until your index reaches the 12th fret..then come back............you might also try this using pull-offs if its not too painfull...also try playing with your left thumb at the middle of the fret board if you do not already do so..........try de-tuning your axe , as it will be easier on your fingers for awhile..Try using the pads of your fingers instead of the tips....and of course for the grand finale....use alot more whammyyyyyyy barrrr..^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

ROGELIO.....in the meantime while satch parties hardcore with PLAYBOY bunnies, and continues to write the worlds greatest music...ok well......the latter.....I would like to offer my tips on writing instrumental guitar music.......Firstly......improvise..leave alot of room for improv if you dont know how to improvise try to use alot of cool and crazy whammy/tapping stuff....writing a short verse on the guitar is a great place to start....first write a backing track ...using chords or perhaps a key board or even just a drum machine..if you dont have any of that and just like writing on the guitar thats ok.....ok so you write a cool melody for example the intro to Always With You Always With Me..I will hum it for you...DA DA DA----DA DA DA DA DA DA-----DA DA DA DA DA DA DAAA.......Ok once you have memorized your little melody line write around it...start with your new found creation then do some improv then go back to your memorized line then go to some chorus you have written then improvise again then finish with the line of music you wrote.......remember keep playing and learning all sorts of cool stuff.become a master class guitarists.... but when writing great guitar instrumentals try to keep at least some of the song simple, but not too simple at least not hmm well i'll let you figure that out.....thanx....
