In my 18 years of listening to the "Guitar God" it was a pleasure to finaly get to meet you at GuitarWorks in Greenwood, Indiana. I waited in line for over 2 hours two day's after I had surgery on my Shoulder. If you don't remember me (I bet you here that all the time). I had my arm in a sling and I had the Silver Surfer Tattoo on my arm.
After waiting to see you, I wasn't rushed by and thought of as just a fan. You took the time to talk with me, my girlfriend and brother for a few minutes. You asked me about my surgery.
It was not only a lifetime dream to meet someone you admire and respect, but to be talked to and treated like a normal person for a few minutes that is something I'll never forget.
Joe, thank you for being a class act and and continue to make that guitar speak to the world......

lalimacefolle, Ron Thal is brilliant...in Paris a few months ago, after hearing only a snipit of a Thal solo without a backing track, I was asked by a journalist who didn't like my new CD why I didn't play more like Ron, but my comments were paraphrased to look mean spirited. I sent Ron an email to let him know that the quotes do not reflect my feelings on his musicianship. And I've invited him to jam with us at a G3 show if it can be arranged...wouldn't that be cool?!!...
...oh yeah, I'm back from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Thailand, and jetlagged, but ready for a week of rehearsals...Joe

Had to do some last minute homework garbage, needed something to listen to, so I put Satch's newest CD ITLIS in my DVD player to hear it with the 5.1. Satch is unstopable, his CD's are great, everytime I see him and hear him it inspires me to get better and better and better... Listening to Joe has made me soooooo much better than I ever was at playing guitar. I did take his advice he gave me, learn every note on the neck, every scale everywhere on the neck, and some other stuff he told me, and it worked and made me even better than ever!!! Thanks Joe for your great, inspiring music and for your advice!!! You are the best, keep it up, keep on rockin' in the free world!!!! I am going to the Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy, and Satch show at PNC Bank Art Center August 18, I hope I get the aftershow passes, I really wanna meet Joe in person!!! I am a young guitarist that has been playing for a long time and inspired by Joe, he changed my playing so much, he made me a lot better, I would really like to thank him for that!

CIVGEEK thanx for the tips man i just read an interview about joe where he said an old jazz teacher made him scat sing i wasnt sure what it was tho. but ne way im givin it a try . u dont know ne thing abou dominant and stuff like that do u. im wondering because ive been learning the first solo in ice 9 i thought it was harmonic minor but really its a scale i havent seen. i know all my modes and pentatonic scales but i read that this one was phrygian dominant and ive never heard of it before but i know that it is also used in blackened by metalica after the harmony in both solos kirk uses it . i knowhe uses both harmonic minor and phrygian , so is the other a combination of them?Could someone please explain this.
JOE - hey im comin to see u again in toronto , the fist time i saw was in montreal in november u were awesome!

Can anybody explain why Joe would ask peevee to make him a amp instead of MARSHALL? If they would make one for that Slash guy, why wouldn't they make one for him? Joe is by far a much better player.

THOMAS - aaahhh the Phrigian Dominant. This is a favorite of the jazz persuation. The phrygian mode will give you a raised fourth. Key of C will yield an F#. And the dominant part will give you a Bb. So you will get C D E F# G A Bb C. Verrry Coool. Sounds very good over Dom 7, and tri tone subs. I know I'm forgeting something but that should get you going. I would also suggest checking out Jamie Abersold's 'Charlie Parker All Bird' book. This book, if played at tempo, or slowly, will work your chops. It's all bebop lines, so they don't lay on the guitar as clean as other lines. You can find it at http://www.aebersold.com/. Good luck.

Ree about the Joe and Peavey thing you asked about, I am pretty sure Joe was looking around for someone to make him his own signature head, Peavey was the one who responded back to him. They sent him some heads and cabs to try out, if you ever play it or see it, it's a mix of the Peavey XXX and the Classic 50 watt head, great stuff. It's an awesome head, very versatile! Try out some Peavey stuff, they make really good stuff, I recently switched from Fender, Crate, and Marshall amps to Peavey alittle before Satch did, and it was a good move. I compared Peavey heads to Marshall and Fender, blew them all away, and bought a Peavey stack, great choice I made, and a great choice Joe made!!! Hope that was what you were lookin for. If you notice in the new G3 DVD, he's got the Peavey XXX stacks behind him, he was testing amps to find out what he wanted, make some tweaks to Peavey amps to make his own awesome one! Peavey sent him amps to try out, most of the G3 tour he was trying out Peavey equipment.

BRO AL - I personally never cared for the tone... and I have heard different reliability issues about them. I'm not the best source but couldn't help putting in my two cents. Do you ever use either of the camers sites I do? The real time speed map is pretty cool if you have to get out or across town. Now GET BACK TO THE BOOKS!!! = ;-)

well i jus know mesa's are hella expensive and apparently better than the marshalls, but nothin says rockstar better than a wall or marshall stacks!
marshall amps are cheaper here in ireland than in the US, and mesa's are dearer in ireland than the US, But Im getin a half stack on the 22nd, so im lookin forward to that!
and ya i went to the sites, the image didnt change after 1.5, and the views are of o connell street anyway im on a dialup so maybe that effects it...
and i cant study, to hard, Id rather play guitar right now im tackeling the crushing day solo im jus gettin used to the little sweeping pattern at the start of the main solo.... im only doin sweeping a few months now, im gettin used to it, I only started gettin lessons recently after 3 years of self explinations
and my teacher played with joe (in dublin his name is conor and i think he played with joe in the point theatre or maybe vicar street-(jus in case Joe is readin it and Might remember) and is a guitar tech for the corrs he's one of the best guitarists i seen, ive tog et 2 buses to get to him! but its worth it, he's v v good...
Well, thats a hell of a long post, So Yep :)
and as for the time, Yea its late, but im talking about guitars, most nights i fall asleep with my guitar, and no im not a freak... :-D

What's everyone's view on Jimi hendrix? My views, I think he is very influencial, but as far as being a league above everyone...no. If he hadn't of died, and if tried to do instruentals, he would of never been mainstreem and no one would give a hoot about him. Steve Morse, SRV, John Petrucci, Randy Rhoads, Shawn Lane, ,etc
are tehnically better guitarists than him. If your talking about popularity, yeah he's pretty popular, but I think it's because he died young. Look at James Dean, would people even care that much about him if he was some 73 year old still hanging around?
His untimely death certainly made him iconic, but I think that's the problem. Hendrix was an good guitarist, even by todays standards, but he's often held by the mainstream public as some kind of untouchable god, when in reality, there were/are those who surpass him. One of the best? Yes, but not the best.
Hendrix was innovative, but how about Segovia, he's the first who made the guitar acceptable in orcestra's etc, or Charlie Christian, Les Paul, CHet Atkins, Muddy Waters, or those who had influenced Hendrix, you could say those people were just as influencial. Andres Segovia would probably be the most influencial, but look, he's underated. I think he should be on the same level, if not higher than Hendrix, Vai, etc. Oh yeah, Charlie Christian was black, so he broke the barrier before Hendrix, same with Wes Montgomery.
