Thanks for all of the info so far, I am working on the issue as I write (in between key taps). The info about the wavelength is excelent, brilliant. I do have some understanding of EMI as I have nearly completed my BSEE but it has been a while.
All of these suggestions are very good and I am implementing as many as make money sense to me.
EMF is infinite but power reduces proportionately as you leave the source. Even if you are 100 miles away you can detect the signal to an extent, thats what antennas are for, as you know.
You are right about the guitar acting as an antenna, from what I have read nearly any conducting material in the EMF path is an antenna. I forgot about waveguides and the wavelength thing.
I have read alot of info on this issue, goto http://www.audiosystemsgroup.com/publish.htm for more.
"Sound is definitely at lower frequencies than RF, so I say coils (chokes) are probably useless for this particular problem."
Sound is much lower in frequency but the issue is the carrier wave not the sound you hear. While the broadcast is at say 560KHz the sound it carries is going to be 20 to 20KHz. The filter is to reduce the voltage and or current of the broadcast signal not the sound it is carrying. However by eleminating the broadcast signal you clear any sound it was carrying as well.
There has been much research in the way of ferrite toroids. What I am concerned about overall is whether I can totally eleminate the AM signal being so close to the tower. The extreme point of view is that I can, but at what cost? If I need to do so much work that I may as well have built a Faraday/Tesla cage then my decision is clear, MOVE AWAY FROM THE ANTENNA.
Please keep throwing me ideas if you have more, many times it takes a second pair of eyes as they say to get to the bottom of it. Like I said I had forgotten the wavelength thing.
I will check back here often for updates and such.

While I may have been a bit educated in Electrical Engineering I am by no means an engineer, yet.
I have seen some examples of using toroids but not with pictures or simple circuit schematics.
Do I place the Toroid in the signal path aka Tip in an unbalanced TS config. and run it in series, signal to signal? Or do I set it like a decoupling transformer from Tip to Sleeve on the guitar side and then run another winding on the same toroid from tip to sleeve on the equipment side giving me a 1:1 Tranformer/filter?
Without an example I am not sure which config I am supposed to use.
Help please.
Thanks

Bahduh: "no equivalent just like joe with the guitar" so it seems! Well, my take on the Pakis is that anything could happen, so watch out!
Gilly just got 91 from 61, New Zealand are being slaughtered. To think they are #2 in the world?!? How I wish we had it on TV. At least we'll get to see the Ashes. Aussies 5/347, Ponting 141* (10 4s, 5 6s). Well done to New Zealand if they can beat that.
Zenfish: I'll keep a look out for references to DrumisanArt then.
Estrela: I'm interested in seeing what this May 2 post will be that everyone is talking about! Surely they can't have meant March 2?
Civgeek: "They have no idea what a drought is!!!" when it's been 3 years since it's rained, that's a drought.
Dad Guitarthy: wicket! May 1000 night's sleeps come at once, just to get you ahead.
Road trip tonight. 2 Gigs tomorrow in different cities.

Hi guys
I had the best dream ever last night! I won the Joe Satriani interview and Joe gave me a signed Js1200. But then I woke up! That's the worst part about dreams!
Keep on rockin' in the free world!!!
P.S. For my birthday a few weeks ago, I got tickets to see Steve Vai at Massey Hall in Toronto!! I also bought his new CD, and it is awsome. Can't wait to get Yngwie's new Cd (Unleash The Fury!!!), and BLS's new CD (Mafia) wich will be released on Tuesday, March 8.
Peace!!!

We just rcvd the new Joe Satriani guitar techniques DVD by Danny Gill, and someone here was wondering what was on it..........
Danny gives a lot of instruction as to Joe's techniques such as legato, the screams, whammy bar, scales, theory, etc, then does an in-depth analysis of 6 of Joe's songs...he goes nice and slow so you can follow along and work on everything with him, breaks down the riffs, etc. Chris is pretty excited to start working with this DVD set, so looks to be a good investment!

ReyDelacero,
Stretch the strings. This usually solves all tuning stability problems associated with floating trems.... however if you have a lo-tres tremolo good luck.. they never stay in tune/

silent_shady, Joe knows his fans talk about his hats, so I'm pretty sure that was said "tongue-in-cheek"! He's laughing WITH us!! I love it!
Hey Mark (bahduh), why don't we try this...send me a short e-mail and I'll try responding and see if my messages can get to you that way! BTW, gonna go see JOE in INDIA???? :) or is that a silly question!!!
Steven, I got your e-mail at lunch and responded right back, hope you got it!! What goes around, comes around, and since what goes around from you is very good vibes and well wishes to everyone here, THATS what you're getting back in a big way!! We love ya!!
Joe, thanks for the update, always great!! And really looking forward to the new accessories, guess I'd better start saving my pennies again, cuz Chris will be drooling over everything when they become available to buy!! That boy needs to get a serious JOB!!! :) Have fun in Australia Joe, it's my mom's birthplace...she says the best half of me is Aussie! cheese101: Yeah that'd sound like Joe. I guess I should be happy it's just the hat.
I don't like this weather anymore. it was fun while it lasted, but until my heating is fixed I'll probably just keep sitting in my bed reciting Edgal Alan Poes Raven. It got boring after the first 10 times. You guys might get sick phisicly, but at the moment I'm mentally crushed.

It's been forever since I've posted a message here. Just thought I'd chime in since I just bought tickets to the 14 April show at the Big Easy Concert House in Spokane Washington. This will be the closest Joe concert I have been to yet. Only a 6 hour drive from where I live. I'm pretty stoked. I can't wait. I plan on bringing one of my buddies along with me this time. He's never been to a Satch show before and true to my former nickname of " JS DISCIPLE " I'll try and get him to convert too our side and abandon his evil listening ways. I figure my part will be getting him there and Joe will have to do the rest. So Joe do me a favor and "Play that funky music, White Boy" and show my friend where the real talent comes from. Please don't hold back either. Play some hot lick that will set his hair on fire. It's all falling out anyway, well to be fair to my friend so is mine. Well Peace Out everyone. Maybe we'll see some of you there. I'll be next to the guy with the smoldering head. Looking forward to an awesome show Joe. You're the man!!! See ya soon.
