Clarky: good to hear you had a good time! Hey earlier I tried your G everywhere thing, and was there a typo re: the top E? If I play three notes a string up to the B, the highest note I play on the B is G, not F#, and so for the turnaround I play A and B, not G and A. :-/

XCrystalPlanetX and Mr Nick: argh! I don't think you'll be mentally scarred for life if you see them as the same note, but (man this is hard)...
in the key of F there are no sharp notes and one flat note - Bb. There are no sharps in F Major so it has to be a Bb.
Let's use third fret G string for this note (yes I know there are others!)
Now then, this pitch also appears in (amongst others) the F# major scale as the 3rd degree. But now it's an A# because there are no flattened notes in F# Major. Same pitch, different name.
Is that easier? Or worse? :-(

EDIT: Oh yeah! Thanks JB!!! :-D

clarky i have got the first three down fairly comfortably, but the others need a little work still. but i can go 1st pos - 2nd pos - 3rd and back again without to much trouble now.

the whole thing just once is an exercise in itself, but i will take your advice: slow and steady to start

like i said... chuffed... thanks teach...

cheers...

Michelle, Joe would get breakfast in bed at my house....lol...but I doubt he would want to see my ugly mug first thing in the morning :) After a couple of cups of coffee maybe...

Oh yeah, I'm not sure what song was being played in my dream, but I'm positive it was in the key of G. I want to say it was "Rubina", but I'm not entirely sure.

Michelle: this just for U:)Dear tech support,Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 & noticed a slowdown in overall performance, particularly in the Jewelry & Flowers applications that had operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0.In addition Husband 1.0 uninstalled many usefull programs such as Romance 9.5 & personal attention 6.5,but installed programs such as NFL 5.0 & NBA 3.0.Now conversation starter 8.0 no longer runs & house cleaning 2.0 simply crashes the system.I've tried running Nagging 5.0 to fix these problems, but to no avail. What should I do? Signed, Desperate Dear Desperate,Please keep in mind that Boyfriend 5.0 is a simple entertainment program, while Husband 1.0 is an operation system.Try entering command C:/I THOUGHT YOU LOVED ME? & download Tears 2.0 program to install guilt 3.0.If this all works,Husband 1.0 should automatically run applications Jewelry 2.0 & Flowers 3.5.But remember that overuse of this application can cause Husband 1.0 to default to Grumpy Silence 2.5,Happy hour 7.0,Strip bar 1.0,BeerBall 3.0.Beerball 3.0 is a very bad program that will cause Snoringly loud Wave files. But whatever you do,DO NOT install another Boyfriend 5.0 program because it will cause Husband 1.0 to crash...In summery,Husband 1.0 is a great program but has a limited memory & doesn't learn new Applications fast. You might want to install additional programs such as Hot Food 4.0 & Lingerie 6.9.Good Luck......jblaze1

XCPX: does it have to be an amp? Did you see my post about the Behringer V-Amp2? Feel free to spread your answer over several posts ;-)

death cube k: see above ;-) I hook it straight into the mixer & computer. It's an amazing piece of kit. I don't play live, so it suits me just fine, and a cheap PA (or the house PA) would let me play live with full control over my sound :-)

Invigor: yeah, aren't they the coolest? I have quite a bit of Behringer kit here, and for the price the quality is outstanding!!! I used to have my studio go through a pair of ridiculously expensive (but on long term loan to me) Meridian speakers, and man what a sound!!!!! Everything on my CD (apart from the acoustic) went through that baby. You can have it, but you'd have to pry it from my cold dead fingers first ;-)

anibur, unfortunately, when I say Joe Satriani most ppl. say "who?", so when I say it and somebody says "yeah, I've heard of him" I get happy :) I think alot of ppl. have heard his music but don't know who the artist is. I get strange looks sometimes when I wear my Satch shirts, especially the newest S.B.M. shirt. I think at first glance, ppl. think I'm wearing a unibomber shirt. Maybe somebody else can explain better who he is. Ted Kazinski (I'm probably way off) who mailed package bombs. Not a nice guy - but we all know Joe is nothing like him (except they both wear hoodys -hooded sweatshirts- & they pee standing up). I've run into a few ppl. who remember Joe from the 80's, but didn't know he was still putting out music. HA! Not only is he putting it out, he's killin' it!! (that's a good thing).

JBlaze, my Husband 1.0 isn't running today. NASCAR 4.0 & NFL 5.0 have shut him down for the day. He's in Sleeper Mode. lol! I think I'll order Take-Out 1.0 and see if I can get the system running again :)

jblaze Great Stuff !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think amp model direct line recording units (i.e. POD and V-amp) are really cool for the everyday musician (like me!) who probably cannot afford to spend 30k on a decent pro tools studio...or even enough to spend to record in one...I do not like the live sound of them though! :)

Matt: interesting observation. Like I said, I don't play live so I can't comment on that part, but i *do* know that no amount of ProTools (or similar) equipment will get you a good guitar sound - ProTools is a recording device / system, nothing more nothing less. OK plugins are available all over the place, but more often than not they're mastering plugins, and the amp sims suck big time. If you put crap in, you'll get crap out. All they do is record it. Granted sticking a decent mike in front of a decent amp, fired by a decent player & a decent guitar is still arguably the best way to the coolest recorded sounds, but for me (and you!) amp sims rule!!!!

EDIT - Mr Nick: that's the one! Same string same fret, but in the context different note. Like if you go shopping in your Porsche 911 it's an A to B machine. If you go cruising for birds on a Friday night in it it's a trapping / copping utility ;-) Sorry for the blatant sexism. I don't support such behaviour, I was just trying to support an idea ;-)
