BTW ALL (This includes Mr. Luini) : Did anyone else notice this: I was in the store today and noticed "Legos" (those snap together pieces you used to play with as a kid) has a "Mind Storms" poster out there (they are robotic-like Legos) in the toy section!!!!!!! 1st: the tonic of each key os different [one is G and the other is E]

2nd: the template of intervals is not the same... this is the relationship between all of the notes in the scale and the tonic...

the problem here is that when you play these two scales next to each other they sound very similar... this is because they share the same notes.... but when you play them in context all becomes clear..... consider the following chord progression: ¦ I ' ' ' ¦ IV ' ' ' ¦ I ' ' ' ¦ IV ' V ' ¦

In the key of G this becomes: ¦ G ' ' ' ¦ C ' ' ' ¦ G ' ' ' ¦ C ' D ' ¦
In the key of Em this becomes: ¦ Em ' ' ' ¦ Am ' ' ' ¦ Em' ' ' ¦ Am ' Bm ' ¦

play these progressions and record them [or sequence them for the computer guys]... play them back one at a time and improvise over it using the notes and fingerings that you've learned so far from the G-everywhere thing.... don't worry about being fast and clever.... try to listen to how the 'tonality' changes between the two different progressions... if you can, try to avoid playing G-everywhere like an exercise over the progression. Play a note... hold it, move to another note but it dont have to be the next one up or down in the scale [so you can leap to other notes... as you're noodling, see if any little tunes [phrases] begin to emerge... have fun with them.... the main thing to note here is how very different they sound.... dispite sharing the same notes...

XCrystal PlanetX, You said something about a Marshall MG 100. I don't have that, but I do have an M G 30 and like it a lot. You should definitely try out the MG.

ovation : i've trained in seminars several times with an english Goju Ryu master called Jon Alexander (i'm ashamed to say that i can't remember his title in japanese)... he taught myself and some other blackbelts how to handle a katana correctly... he even let me borrow his own for s short time...(which is a HUGE honour!!)... i was terrified i might drop it!!... one of the nicest guys i've ever met in the martial arts circles...

left handed debate : i've heard that lefties like mark knopfler and gary moore just picked up right handed guitars and started playing... they have both said that it works better for them because the stronger hand is doing all the work...

DaveMc - I know it might be frustrating to realise there are loads who don't know Joe but on the upside when he tours, we can get tickets and get closer to the Maestro. If Joe was as well known as say Bruce Springsteen, we wouldn't get a look in and his tickets would cost a fortune.

Just had G3 on DVD, great show Joe, liked Eric's stuff and Mr Vai, he does seem a bit on the flash side. Hasn't Stu got chunky legs.

Webmastah... would it be possible to put a "webmaster's messages" link at the top, beside Joe's? A lot of times when I show up here after a few days away there are 15-20 new pages to view. Don't get me wrong, I love you all :O) but sometimes you just want to cut to the chase, this would be a great addition, imho. Also, is there an FAQ about formatting on this board? IE: for links & bold text etc, what is the tag structure up in here? Thanks.

PLUM LOCO - Rik is THE MAN, eh? Technically he is one of the best. Back "in the day" we all wanted to be as technically proficient as Rik, we all scrambled to learn Midsummer's Daydream. Thunder Seven is still a very solid album, even to this day. (IF you can take the high vocals, which I can). A professional guitar player friend of mine (who will be playing my Wedding) was over last week for dinner, I'm always trying to suggest stuff to him that's a little challenging, when I mentioned M's D he said "well, I don't really remember it that well.." & then proceeded to play it nearly flawlessly, he did the same (after a quick retuning) with Bron-Yr-Aur (one of my all-time favorite Led Zep instrumentals) dude is just amazing. Ovation1, wish I could play Joe's music at work. That would be sooo cool. Instead we have to listen to whatever stuff is piped in through satellite radio. Some days it's not to bad, but some days I'd rather stick hot nails in my eardrums. Thanks for the suggestions for the show.

Dave, how bout we just wear our Satch shirts and parade around in out underwear to get ppl's. attention. LOL! I have Satch IN my car, ON my car, IN my house, IN my locker at work, IN my bag I carry at work - hell, I even gave pictures of me & Joe to my family & friends so he can be displayed in their houses too! At this point, I'm almost stalkerish! If you really want to get crazy, go to www.stickerjunkie.com & get some Satch stickers made up and stick them on everything in site! lol! And NO, I haven't done that yet, but it has crossed my mind. lol! It's not only Joe's music that means that much to me, it's Joe as a person. Anyone who's ever met him can testify that he is warm, kind, humble, ect....just a fantastic human being. His music is an extra added bonus :)
