Joe. Oh man oh man you've outdone yourself once again. I'm just so blown away by your new album i received yesterday that my feet won't touch the ground for weeks and weeks. Jesus christ, what can't you do with that guitar?? In "Belly Dancer" you break the speed limit, in "The Seventh String" you break tons of bricks with that overheavy sound and in "The Chords of Life" you just simply break my heart. Absolutely amazing. The music of gods everywhere on every plane of reality. Your sound has so much soul that i'm convinced that Chrome Boy & co. must have lungs. They breathe out the notes that touch my heart. And i'm not kidding. Not one bit. Sincerily yours, Jacob D.

Greetings Joe...

Just wanted to say your new SBM CD is another great one. I can always count on not being disappointed by anything you release. Love all the various tempo, ever changing tracks throughout the CD. Saw you on Screensavers a few weeks ago which was a nice change from the normal computer geek stuff I enjoy on there. Thanks for all the fine tunes and keep up the awesome work!

Keep Rockin! Sp33dFr34k

Drafter37 --- no problem!! Feel free to post anytime you want!! Satch fans are found far and wide; fans like me on the other side of the world look forward to posts anytime!!

Oddly enough, Chords of Life isn't my favourite song... but i'm glad so many ppl like it. I was afraid that all the comparisons to "all along the watchtower" would get in the way.

Flavour Crystal 7 is an awesome song with a killer groove!! i really like it... and Turkey man as well. I have absolutely no problem with EOC and never understood why some ppl (and SAtch fans as well) don't like it...!

Engines of Creation is an excellent album. Its obvious that some people have a deeper appreciation for music than others. Also, when I heard "chords of life" for the first few times, I never compared it to, or saw any relation to "all along the watchtower". It does not sound anything like it. If you want to hear a copycat guitar player, just listen to Kenny Wayne Shephard, I dont know how the heck he got invited to do a G3 tour, he doesnt even have his own style. He is the ultimate SRV rip-off.....and yeah I know he's laughing all the way to the bank, but he's cashing in on someone elses hard work. If I were to learn Joe's style note for note to perfection and then go out and tour using his style, I would be considered a rip-off.......sorry, I just think KWS has zero talent, I'd love to hear him do JUST ONE SONG that doesnt sound like SRV...can anyone find one for me...bet you can't.

This album gets better and better....

what breaks a heart Starts out with eerie chord sequence and wah drenched tune, fairly relaxed but sad. The main tune then comes in harmonised in thirds, still wah drenched very catchy. The instruments then build up, giving way to a great chord based riff sequence, with wah guitars playing a new tune.

Next in comes very high slide guitar, still quite eerire and creepy. next is my highlight, a pull-off open string section, very innovative and great sounding, giving way to some satch legato (some of my favourite). It then moves onto a great diminished chord. This whole solo section is so briliantly blown over the top, it's great. Feels kinda like the more dramatic LTE moments.

I was wondering if there would be a way for folks who have all ready purchased the US version of Strange Beautiful Music to aquire full versions of the bonus songs The Eight Steps and Slick. I could have ordered the Japanese version with a 4-5 week wait, but I wanted to go ahead and purchase the album. I was hoping for something similar to Additional Creations and would be happy to purchase the additional songs as a "single" cd or ep. It's almost torture to hear clips of these songs without being able to aquire them. BTW, as expected, the new album sounds great. Being an old King Crimson fan, it's nice hearing Joe and Robert Fripp doing that classic remake of Sleep Walk. Thanks for the music.

Hey Joe...I know your style has changed quite a bit, but It's the same good melodic tunes, I really love it. Your new tone/sound has real kick to it, I hope you continue to treat your fans to new things!!! Chords of Life, Belly Dancer and the Journey are my favourites at the minute!! Keep it real!! Stu.

njbeast - The Part 1 and Part 2 thing that Joe uses on some songs sounds to me like a way to separate introductions from the rest of a song, while keeping the same title. If you're asking why he has a "Power Cosmic" and a "Power Cosmic 2000", it's because the second one is a completely different take on the original idea...

Mr Nick - That sounds cool...now I need a cell phone. Haha...

I must be the only one that doesn't absolutely love Chords of Live, haha. I don't dislike it at all, it's a cool song, but it's definitely not my favorite on the album. Then again I don't know what my favorite is. SBM just kicks my ass as soon as it starts - Oriental Melody, Belly Dancer, Starry Night - DAMN!!! It's already amazing! Like i said before, oriental melody is a complete masterpiece, and I can't believe I have heard so many people being turned off by it!

Anybody know who did Starry Night originally?

I just heard the new album yesterday. It's so f**king @rsewhipping. I also bought Van Halen "Live" as well as Paganini's 24 Caprices. Really cool. Only 18 days t'ill Shepherds Bush and 15 days t'ill Joe's 46 years old. Joe, you have to play "Mindstorm", "Belly dancer", "Chords of life", "What breaks a heart"(that has a great guitar solo) "Seven string" and "The Traveller" as well as all the old classics. Can't wait. As for the meantime, MINDSTORM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just want everyone to know that I'm forgoing the Annual Six Flags Great Adventure trip this August and saving my dollars to go to New York and see Joe Satriani instead. I feel that that would be money much better well spent! :)

Thanks for the info about inserting spaces in our posts, people! :) Hee hee...

The RUBBER GUITAR is coming out! I don't care if I'm sitting in the damned nosebleed seats up there...I need something to hold while I'm jamming like hell! :) BTW, has anyone seen pictures of that venue? It is BEAUTIFUL!!! WOW!!! An outdoor stadium with a view of the WATER! The mood is going to be so perfect. Too bad I have no girlfriend to bring along... :(

Joe Satriani...To be quite honest, due to my new work schedule, I haven't had time to pick up your album yet, only to hear the bits and pieces from satriani.com, but what I have heard sounds amazing! It sounds like you have employed a unique much more bluesy warm sound on this album. Almost as if you took the subtle, laid-back sound of the "Joe Satriani" album and employed a "Crystal Planet" mentality to it! I will post a review on T2J as soon as I get my hands on it. I've a feeling that "The Traveler", the best snippet I've heard so far, is going to break my heart in two! Anyone ever notice how Joe sometimes saves the best most unique song on the album for next to last? :)

Kudos! Once again, Joe, have a safe and successful tour.
