Mr. Satriani, I have a couple of your DVDs(G3 and Live in San Francisco). They are both fantastic. I appreciate you putting out DVDs. I live in lincoln Nebraska. Concerts of your caliber are rare, so DVDs let me experience what I would normally have to travel miles for and take valuable time off from work. My question is- "Why does your bassist,Stuart Hamm, get booed in both DVDs?" The guy does an awesome solo and still gets booed. Is it some sort of local joke?

r6r - dude... you need a new personal brain care specialist...

choco - my maa-in-law was out last night... she's a test pilot in a broom factory...
ethn - unicorns are like little dwarf guys that dress like father christmas and have a gaffer tape bondage fetish with hampsters...... they are I'm sure... well I think I am... so I don't watch those kinds of film....
emad - I didn't know you lived in Kansas... I have an aunt in Kansas do you know her...???
fretboard - Stu could have dropped a real humdinger on stage and everyone was shouting 'pheeeeeeeewwwww!!'
roser - I'd invest in a good effects rack and a reasonable stereo amp / cab first. Upgrade the amp and cab later with the type of venues you play in mind. A good effects rack you can use in the studio, at home, on stage etc... and you have the power to really shape the sound.

I use a Digitech 2120... kit of this ilk is so worth the money...

My backline is a Marshall 8008 stereo rack amp driving a Marshall 4x12 bottom cab for each channel - sounds great..

Austin - Much thanks for the lengthy, educated explanation.

Death Cube - Well strings take anywhere from 1 week to 2 weeks to break. This is when practicing Satriani/Vai songs with whammy. DAMNIT, now the stupid Edge trem I installed on my 7V decided to suddenly let the trem arm holder to go all loose and wobbly. I almost threw this piece of crap out the window last night.

Clarky - Ohhh. Yeah, ash is frigin heavy. I think the only wood heavier is ebony. Ebony is harder than most types of metals. There are also something like 40 different types of ebony.

Is that Floyd you have a Floyd II then? I know the Floyd II's had much heavier bassplates than the original Floyds.

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHY EDGE TREMS BREAK STRINGS SO OFTEN?

Sharon, I rode my broom earlier in the week. To much broom traffic last night. Safety first :)

Fretboard Lighter, you know what they say ~ better to be pissed off than pissed on. The boo~Stu~moo~woo~woo question will go on forever. Try not to let it get to you. Some ppl. ask it because they really think he's being booed, and others ask because it's been on here a million times and it gets kinda funny after a while. After all, Joe DOES say "They STU him cause they love him!" Funny thing is, the ppl. asking the question never seem to read the other posts on here saying IT'S STU, NOT BOO! lol!

r6r, LOL!!

Ovation, oh no no, wank you!! lmao!!!

Clarky, would that be your Auntie Em?? LOL!!

Happy November 1st everyone!

Well, everyone, I'm going away for the weekend. I'm spending today and tomorrow with a few friends, and then we're all going to see Aerosmith at The Hollywood Bowl on Sunday. It's gonna be a great concert. I'll be back here on Monday, I guess. Behave... ;-)

Karma burger - That tribute album isn't advertised on this site because it's not an official Joe Satriani release.

ovation1 - It's nice to see GHS becoming your SOTDs...hehe. Awesome.
death cube k - I'll download the song right after I'm done here...
Rocket1 - It is Stu, not boo.

...Austin...

listening to "thinking of you" -- there is something magical about this song. seriously. something about the way this song is put together is just breathtaking... "time machine" is slowly becoming one of my favorite albums of all time. some amazing talent went in to creating that song. SOTD: "thinking of you!"
for those of you attending the concert at the pavilion tomorrow, email me at mooben@aol.com subject: satriani concert. if you wanna chill, and study up on your satch (listen to music) a couple friends and i will be there early. i know you will be there, megaboyd.....

Hi all,
Joe.... can anything be done on your part to remove the 21 rule to your show in MN on Dec. 5th? Or anything to make exceptions to the rule like, unless accompanied by someone over a certain age?
P.S. If you make it so that you had to ba accompanied by someone of a certain age.... say 35.... that would be awesome. PLUS you would make more money, the place would still be able to sell their booze. I dont know, I am just an outraged fan because I have wanted to see you for so long, now I cant because of the venue. Maybe on the next G3 tour come back to Northrop auditorium like you did in '97... I think is when it was.

In response to JS CLone 1, yes , I totally agree with you that Joe tends to be more relaxed than Steve, that Steve goes completely mental when he has a guitar in his hands. I mean you can see it , can't you. They both love their music, and you can see that dude. They are the most devoted musicians in the world. Noel Gallagher is completely sh*t. I mean he never practised when he was a kid. Most people give Malmsteen loads of cr*p, I think that that's unfair. He practised as much as the other two, and has a great music taste, Bach, Paganini (I have the 24 caprices), Hendrix and Blackmore. People should give him more respect.

In response to Clarky, hw many times have you been to see Vai, it was my first tme last December. He was off his rocker. It's hard to believe that on one night with Dave Lee Roth, he broke five strings and two straps.

Hey Rich(JSC1) your edge tremolo could be breaking strings if there are any sharp edges on the saddles. If you have done ant sanding on the saddles this can cause breakage (a tech told me this). I've got the LoTRSII on my S guitar, contrary to what every one says, it stays in tune fine (basically is an original floyd in design) and doesn't break strings. Even when I'm practicing a lot of shred picking, whammying etc, it doesn't break strings. The only thing I have ever done to break strings is do a bend of two whole steps then whammy up about 3+. That'll bust a high "E" string any time. Also, I'm using nine's, so if I can't break strings, something must be going wrong with your edge trem. Hopethat helped

death cube k, how do you like the rolled edges on the neck of that Joe Perry Les Paul? I tried one once at a Guitar Center, I loved it....but alas....I had no cash on hand. Very nice guitars Bro', I like that Jackson too.

I think the new saying should be..."It's Matt, not Stu".....lol
