Ethn... I accept your apology, and offer mine too ;-) although I was kinda getting used to the idea of calling anything that isn't strict alternate "Andrew" ;-) I also have the Gambale video... good stuff, I must say, but it seems to me he embraced the technique a little too much - kinda like if EVH *only* tapped.... anyway personally I use the Gary Moore method - neck hand knows what it's doing, pick hand goes mad and hopefully they'll make a connection somewhere... works for him ;-)

Sharif too much great music has been made with MIDI - what problems are you having?

xmezdelca nice to see you can finally write some English, but that's all you've ever posted here.... do you think it's really going to happen? :-/

Hi cel... the ugly green/black/white one (which will soon be repainted) is solid mahogany... the other two home-made ones are (I think!) alder. I get them cheap from a great little music shop in Wembley, London. Let me know if you want any more info, and thanks for checking out the site! :-)

StuClone although both are good viewing, I'd go for Satch Tapes first.... Reel Satriani can get kinda boring, but there's some good insight on it all the same...

Nick Steve calls it 'circular' I think - yes a definite combination of "headstock to body and back" (like John Williams) and "ceiling to floor and back" (like most players)... he moves his fingers in circles between the frets... sounds kinda funky (and not George Clinton funky either LOL)

Hi Naty... sorry about your connection &-(... I hope your brother's PC is able to cope with so many T2J postings ;-) HNY to you too!!! xxx

OCPS470 dude it's 90MB! No way! Email me ;-)

Sorry for the long post guys... have family here from the good ole US of A (Ohio & Georgia).... man it's hard to get some time to myself.... I can see me losing what's left of my mind before long LOL... at least I'm close to London - surely there's a couple of weeks' worth of sites for them to see?!?! ROFL... hope you're all enjoying your holiday season... all the best, Dave

EDIT: various tiredness-induced mistakes ;-)

If anyone could help....... I would like to compare the JS1000 and an American Strat, and it would be cool if someone could give there two cents on both guitars, pros and cons...... that sort of stuff. Thanks...

mick87..unless its THE best strat in the entire universe and you like the feel of it soooo much and there is nothing wrong and nothing that can go wrong with it, then buy that, if not, get the js1000 :) overall though get whichever you like most of, try out both till your hands are bleeding and if you still cant decide, get a jem :)

Hey Joe

The Crush Of Love OW what a song dude, it so rocks I have been listaning to it for about 2 months now, about 10-15 times a day if only you would have kept the bit at the end where it fades out going, I have got a backing track for it and i have been trying to make out that ending for weeks, I Have to say the ending you do live is amazing, It was fantastic on the SBM tour, It rocked. Thank you for coming to england. I read somewhere that you wrote The Crush Of Love because you were not happy with the amount of time yourself and Rubina where spending together when you where younger, is that ture?.

Cheers

Dave Wren

And Have A Great New Year.

Stu Clone - It's good to hear that you FINALLY got a DVD player. Now you can watch Stu's solo in slow motion and go nuts. ;-) To answer your question, I'd go with Reel Satriani. It's a great glimpse into the mind of Joe, and you get to see him compose If in a few short minutes. It's isane. Don't try to put the Reel Satriani VHS into your DVD player, though...hehe.

trutina - All I can really suggest is that you detune the strings by a whole step or so, to reduce tension on the neck. I'm sure other people here will have more to add.

Hey Joe, I don't know if you know anything about the music scene in Lebanon but there is a lot of fans overthere and i bet a lot of people would like to see you performing overthere. I came to san francisco a year ago and i cant wait to check you live for the first time at the Fillmore on January. Im a big fan of you, i don';t care if some people say you are not the fastest guitarist of the most technical, even if that isn;t true itisn''t that important. To me you re the most melodic solo player. P.S> you check some lebanese musicians om mp3.com by selecting our region. If you happen to be there and if u have time check www.mp3.com/exceed Keep rockin'! Adam Mazboudi

PhryDom my main issue with MIDI is that it sounds robotic and not at all realistic. I've used it to map out my musical ideas sometimes, but I could never record using MIDI sounds - it sounds like a dude playing a keyboard - a cheap keyboard. One more thing, Reel Satriani was my favorite of the Satch videos, it was nice to see how the magic comes together in the studio for him know what I mean?

Everybody have a good evening!

Sharif

Stu Not Boo,
Gotta love that Stu solo, I was real excited when I found out that there was actually more than what was just on the video... Got the mp3 and started tabbing like a madman... I especially like Stu's Beatles/Beethoven stuff...

For all those that aren't so un-new to the Stu scene, don't forget to drop by the Tab Section of the Stu Hamm site... We're the only site with a SINGLE FINISHED STU SONG!!! (I'm basing this on the fact that I've NEVER seen a tab of a full Stu song anywhere else...)

We've also got a pretty decent collection going... Wrong & Strong, Astral Traveler, Star Spangled Banner, I've got three of Stu's solo versions up, we've got remember, we've got Charlotte's Song, the list goes on...

Hey, happy 123 to me!

Phrygian dom-Right on man.I agree about Gambale.A total snob about the technique.I really don't like his playing much, lol.

Reminds me of Dimeola,He believes if you dont alt pick every note, then you aren't really playing the notes.Whatever,lol.

I think I am going to name my techniques "Bubbles",in honor of you phryg.May I call you "The Phryg"? :D
DCK-I got a blanket, chocolate(Which is funny, cuz I hate candy),cologne, and 2 shirts. My 8 year old cousin gave me what can only be described as a makeup/crayon carrier shaped like a dog.Inside it had a note-"to crystel".I asked my aunt if it was really for me,she said "she gives that to everyone",lol.

I don't mind not getting anything really cool,I wasn't expecting anything, and I was happy to be with my favorite aunt.

Oh,one of my buddy's mailed me "Metroid II" for the gameboy, that was cool.

I would have liked some money, lol. But it's cool.

I bet it will improve strength & speed when playing guitar!! Ha! BTW, I got Racer X live at whisky a go go and Paul Gilbert 11,000 notes for X'mas!

Sound's like everyone had a great holiday, lol, we did too.... I'll be getting one of my present's next month....New tires for the van, lol, and then we can work on the wanted guitar after that, lol....

A great song for the day: "I don't wanna pretend anymore, I dont wanna have to lie..Maybe we can be friends if you want, only if we got the time"....Richie Kotzen from "Slow".. If you don't have the album, get it, Richie (as I've known for a long time) can sing his ass off as well as play!!

Sharif I know exactly what you mean. What I tend to do to *try* and get round it is play the notes in (or use the mouse) and then play with velocities to make it a little less robotic (good choice of word, btw ;-) )... but I can't stand groove templates and the like - to me they sound worse! One thing I have which is pretty neat though is called DrumTrax - it's a shedload of MIDI drum tracks played by a real drummer on a MIDI kit. Of course external modules and not the soundcard's internal sounds also play an important part - I hate those cheesy soundcard MIDI sounds. Email me and I'll send you some of the DrumTrax to see if they help...

Dead right Ethn.... what's up with some people? If it sounds good who cares how it's played?!?! Joe originally wrote the intro to Raspberry Jam Delta V with two handed stuff, but changed it cos he thought it was too cliched... now there's someone totally un-snobby :-)

Hey /\/\ike don't you mean he can kick his ring in the ring? ROFL

Later all.... got a real house full today... two human house guests and six effing dawgs!!! Dave

Matt King - At least your songs sound complex... I know what you mean with that songwriting thing. When I sit down and think "now I'm gonna write a song", I just start playing some Dream Theater sounding riffs and soon I'll end up playing their songs, for example. I get no own ideas. Then again, when I just play the guitar, I can get a nice sounding riff or melody etc. out of the instrument, which doesn't even sound like Dream Theater(or just a little :)

Has anyone got the Attack of the Clones DVD Pack??? The second DVD is awesomely packed with cool documenteries. Even better than the Phantom Menace. I couldnt believe it when I saw Digital Stuntmen In certain scenes. Cant wait to see what technology they employ for the final film. ILM Rocks.
