js1000 is the guitat to go for. i got another £600 to go but my birthday is in a month.

there is nothin wrong with using a signiture guitar to play if you want to get good and famous. The les pual is a signiture and look at how many people use that.

Crushing day: r u copying me. lol. How long are you from london.

Michelle - Yeah that was awesome. Big fat thanks to John(Invigor) for saying hi to me. Was working for 6 hours on Saturday.

Matt - I recall 80's bands like poison using a Jem777DY and a Jem777SK in some of their music videos. If I keep my 7V, it's getting all the white stripped off or some of the white stripped of with red veins added in the body. Something insane. It is better to find your own even though a guitar is a guitar is a guitar.

...take it from first hand experience rich...and the comment about the les paul...that's like comparing it to a strat. a les paul is basically a style of body these days...now if you had said a zakk wylde or joe perry les paul...i don't think many ppl go for those that are working to make it famous. individuality is something that has to be acheived in at least SOME form to be successfull...using someone else's axe is not a good step...but hell, do what's comfortable. just trying to shed some light on an issue that I once blinded myself by.

Well, it seems like there are a lot of negative feelings about the chat now. I said a few "bad" things about the whole process yesterday, but I think it went pretty well once I sit back and consider what it was. It could've been better, but it was great for an average "online chat".

gleed - The webmaster does have a point. The service is free, and he's under no obligation to make it work for you specifically. It does sound like he was a little rude, but maybe he had a lot of people emailing him about the chat.

michelle - "Noodles & beer" was probably my favorite part of the chat, too...hehehe.
death cube K - Why'd you have the Joe Perry signature removed? ::sniffle::

austin i had it removed , ...mmmmm because i had cracks in the finish and had to get it refinished, so i figured, i also had a maple laminate added to the back it is just as flamed and same burst as the front.. now it looks like joe's prototype he had before the production model.. sos all in all its better now, if aerosmith ever tour around here again i will get get him to sign it for real,,,,,,

well, i tried to JS100 and, let's face it, Ibanez pickups are terrible compared to the DiMarzios, so i wouldn;t go for one anyway. I have a JS1000 and as far as signatiure models are concerned, it looks great, plays and sounds better and looks like a super ibanez or sumthing, it's not shouting "i'm a signature guitar blah blah". If the signature one is the best, theeeeen you buy it.

...yeah, that chat was a little strange...I was in a backstage room only seeing questions forwarded to me at an incredibly slow pace. When I went to the other rooms myself it was a total barrage of chat and instant messaging that left me no choice but to log off and go play my guitar!...But, hey, it was fun anyway...Thanks to all our fans for a great run of shows...now a little rest and off we go to Mexico and beyond...Joe...

Kell - his music has a very modern sound.... this '20th century sound' being the case, it would be hard hear is he is 'trained'... he does obviously have an abundance of natural ability though....
Summer Song - ok guys… I took a quick look at it to work out the keys employed. So here is a very rough over-view:
The ‘intro’ is in A Mixolydian. This is where the main riff is stated – this has the nice messing with natural harmonics.
The main tune is in A mixolydian – essentially a ‘verse’ section.
This is followed by a section in A Dorian which behaves like a bridge into the solo.
The main part of the solo is in G Dorian.
The end of the solo alternates between F# Dorian and A Dorian [it does this twice]
At the end of this solo section is a kind of ‘turn-around’ D Mixolydian then E Mixolydian.
Next comes another verse section in A Mixlydian.
This is followed by the quiet section where Satch noodles in A Mixolydian.
And finally, the ‘outro’ is in A Mixolydian over the main riff - more messing with natural harmonics. This is like a ‘recapitulation’ of the ‘intro’.

death cube your (i think) latest tune is really good (the whammy one)!!! i downloaded it on friday and it's still on my hard drive, which is saying something (ROFL), not to mention i play at least twice a day... any chance of expanding it? it's got a great feel man!

whoever was talking about boots... i have some for trading, and i also have some pretty cool computer-file videos (no, not that kind!!! well, actually... oh never mind that LOL).... i have an entire G3 show on mpeg, Tony MacAlpine playing at GIT, a George Lynch instructional video, tons of live VH stuff (with DLR), and loads of MP3s too... and seeing as I'm earning a little bit these days (needy pooches permitting!) I'm not charging, but *would* like something in return! email me if you're interested, and Matt if you still want those plugins email me again - maybe you could send me your CD in exchange...?

Hope y'all had / are having a good weekend... I just had a look through my physics stuff for this year.... looks like I'm really gonna need to keep the spells going to give me more hours in the day! Either that or my special Italian friend will have to keep me well stocked in the espresso department :-D

Aikiko so you met Mick B? Is he as scary as he looks on the webcast????

Later, Dave

Symphony 5 ‘Preludio’ by V. Williams. Who was asking about this???? [I can’t remember]….. Anyhow, I dug out the CD and took a listen…. I recall that the debate was “is the opening section in C Lydian or D Mixlydian?”
This was a tricky one…
The most prominent bass note is C. The bass line itself always seems to start and end on C so the C does seem to be ‘in your face’…..
The collection of notes being used comes from G major…. This combination of the G major key centre and the prominence of the note C in the bass does point to C Lydian…
However, this is not the whole picture…. The is one major item missing….
What is the nature of the chord that functions essentially as ‘chord I’?
You can hear this pretty clearly in the strings.
’Chord I’ is D7 is always heard in 3rd inversion. [and on occasions D9 in 3rd inversion]
3rd inversion means that the 7th of the chord is in the bass. The 7th of D7 is the note C.
This makes the bass a bit of a ‘red-herring’ as a means of identifying the tonic.
The answer is D Mixolydian due to the value of ‘chord I’.
It is unusual to find ‘chord I’ permanently fixed in an inversion… but that is the ‘gotcha’ in this very cleverly written and subtle piece of music.
Take note that this is a 20th century work… This means that the conventional rules of harmony can get seriously broken… basically, expect everything to be unusual but it’s not always as obvious as stuff like Bartok and Schoenburg…

Look for the notes used to establish the key centre and the value of ‘chord I’…. Most often, ‘chord I’ is in root inversion…. Also take note of the date of the composition as this provides clues to the nature of the harmonic style employed…. e.g. you wouldn’t expect JS Bach to create a Chorale in F Lydian… This being the case, guys like Williams would only really employ the traditional rules of harmony if they felt the need to sound ‘authentic’ in recreating a moment from a specific period.

Does this help??????????????

Matt King!! I agree with you on the guitar thingy about using signature models...

If your sound is similar to the artist in question you're more or less catagorized in the "Cover Band" section and regardless of it being original tunes of your own to a few covers, those record producers out there automatically know if they can market your music...

If you ever want to hit it big, find a sound that's you... whether it's complex or not, focus on a style that's never been developed yet... In this day & age of guitar rock, your sound is either clean or heavy... Maybe develop a style that is in between all that, or combine Clean with Heavy...

Matt....You also metioned on your forum that you got an endorsement through Brian Moore Guitars... I think you should go for it... they have alot of amazing instruments... Especially the ones with the Piezo Bridges...

Unfortunately electric guitar players don't develop their acoustic guitar techniques & skills as much... Just think if you used one guitar with all the toys built in... without changing instruments you can develop styles that can quite possibly make you a diverse player & that my friend I think makes the record companies notice you more if you use everything to your disposal...

Here's a word of encouragement Matt, your band is great and everything but I truely think I can see you as a critically acclaimed session musician that all the big name acts can rely on to create real good music 10 years from now... that's my opinion anyway...

Hey 10 years from now, I personally would like to see myself have my own small custom guitar making factory! that's my dream mostly... Guitar playing for me is just fun to do & I enjoy every minute of it... but to do it for a living? that's hard to imagine right now...
