Punkdude-Although I differ in taste from your choices,I have to concede that is a very interesting topic.

I actually think Tone is my biggest weakness. Not to make excuses, but even though I have been playing for many years,I have had very little time on nice amps and effects and whatnot. So I am a novice as far as gear knowledge goes.

Once I have some money,I know It will take me yeasrs to find my tone, but for now,I can only rely on my technique to get me by.

Its a bummer, because my tone SUCKS.

Its funny,Im the only person I know who plays a 2100.00$ guitar through a 99.95$ amp,lol.

Joe-I remember you did a show at CARDIFF CIA in SOUTH WALES in 1998 (I think it was 1998,could have been 1999), I wasnt able to make the show.Any chance of you doing another show there in the future. It would be easy for me to get there, it's a 20 minute drive from where I live. If you want, you can stop for a coffee and give me a guitar lesson. Please do a G3 show in the U.K......Thank you for inspiring me to play guitar.Your the best.

Punkdude: Agreed the tone Billy Corgan got especially with the early SP records is amazing. I really dig the soothingly eerie psychedelic flavor he gets on Gish and Pisces Iscariot. If you have not heard the track Drown from the Singles soundtrack you dont know what your missing...

Punkdude, I agree with your first 3 picks, although I'd change Joe's to the self titled, LISF is great too. EJ has a fantastic sound also. Good choice. I'm not a big Corgan fan, so you lost me on that one. VH, JS, & Metallica are three of the best!

Sharon, YES! You can do what you like now. lol! Glad you had a great day :)

Smithers, two great cd's!

HI JOE! Love ya!

Ymob You can get the first bit of slick from the SBM section of the discography of this site. You can't get the full song from anywhere, which is why we've all been calling for it.

In regards to Satriani guitar tones,

Anything off Surfing with the Alien, Flying in a Blue Dream or Joe's late 80's early 90's live tone. Chorus effect and a little more harsh tone. Fit real nice.

hi joe.

on the last message you posted you asked if anyone had any ideas about how to vary your current set list.

i think it would be really cool if you and the band played some songs from the TIME MACHINE album.songs like TIME MACHINE,THE MIGHTY TURTLE HEAD & BANNANA MANGO II.

any way, take care and if you got a chance to read my last message,i hope you do stop by for that cup of coffee.PLEASE COME BACK TO SOUTH WALES.

wow JSC1, i think i'm gonna forget any of this ever happened, do you know why? because it looks like you like In Flames, or i could be mistaken. i love them, i play in, literally, an In Flames clone band. we're not a cover band, but we sound similar. i'm a mature guy and which ever argument i still have, which is plenty, i'll just swallow and forget about it. you obviously haven't seen my point at all, ever, but i'm cool with that because you live in canada and that's far away, so what's the point of all this. i'm gonna go back to listening to and playing every symphony x song and not having some guy trying to have a "musical discussion" with me. so, let bygones be bygones. - the extremist
