Hello truebasser.

dck That's gotta be a joke. Everyone knows you can't copyright a chord progression, only a melody.

962 I've seen pictures of Joe playing like you described - longer strap but angled up more. I like something like that, but still keep my strap fairly short. However, many pictures of Joe I've seen, he's got his strap too long anyway. Even with the neck angled up the headstock is still fairly low, so I'm reckoning that's just for looks most of the time.

Question, does James Hetfield play with a shorter strap in the studio than in all the pictures of him? Did Jimmy page? Or did they just avoid the issue and sit down when recording in the studio?

DCK ROFLMAO man, the tirade goes on ! btw I'd be interested ifn you were doing an EP ;-)

GREG I don't know about page but Hetfield and Hammet recorded most of the black album sat down, if you watch a year and a half in the life of..............

SOTD - Sabra Cadabra - Black Sabbath (great riffs from times gone by)

I haven't seen that, but I've seen some "classic albums - the black album" programme, and saw them recording Enter Sandman sat down. Hammet doesn't have his guitar as low as Hetfield, anyway. It usually looks just about high enough for comfort if you like a really steep neck angle, whereas James' guitar is just stupidly low.

poll Do you like playing your guitar sat down or stood up for more of the time?

sitting 0 - 1 standing

Interesting titbit, I think that Jonny Greenwood'd guitar has been creeping upwards very slowly over the past few years.

Although, I'm after getting a high 'bar type' chair with a back, but no arms and a foot rest. I like playing sat down, especially if working on something but i can't get as comfortable and have the freedom of movement that you get when standing.

i have my guitar at about satch/vai height....

poll for guitar position hmm....sitting when practising and standing when playing songs or along with songs..so both.

anyone else in the UK see the thunderstorms last night?? they were cool...2 went over head of us..lightning everywhere..i swear the sky went purple when the lightning happened. above the clouds, in the clouds, from cloud to cloud, sheet, forked..pretty cool...

and i'm writing a song that is sort of based around thunderstorms...its coming along nicely..hope to start recording the rythmn guitars bit by bit..starting today...the first bit..then the next bit..then the next bit..and so on and so on...and then the 2nd rythmn guitars in some places...then the rest of the stuff.

and the metalica 2 chord thing...its fake..but very funny..lol

Why does Robert Fripp always sit down, or always stand up, or what?

nick Vai seems to have his guitar at quite a range of hights, doesn't he? I mean, look at the different hights he has it at in the pictures from AIAUW. One quite funny thing, for the pictures of Fire Strings, he has it lower in all the performance photos than he does in all the practice photos.

greg m..never noticed that...in some videos i have...they all seem about the same height. typical rock guitar kinda height.

in that picture of joe, jp and vai...a cross between vai and satch..although its difficult to tell..vai has longer legs and is taller than joe..petrucci has his higher than joe and vai...and i have vai's guitar....and different lengh arms too....

My name is Emre Hepgunes, i play guitar(lead) for 4 years. I am 18 years old. I am fast but i want to be the fastest! I want to learn how can my fingers get faster. Can you give me an advice about fastening my fingers? My purpose is being the best guitarist ever lived on earth! In order to achieve this goal, first of all i have to be specialize in guitar like you. And i want to learn that "should i use all of my four fingers or just three of them?". And one more question. How do you use that tremolo stick? I can't have my guitar sound like yours.. It is like Wyyyyvvvvvv... :-) If you have training tabs, i want you to send them to my email address. And are you still instructing guitar playing to young people? Thank you very much for reading and replying...

Hey joe this was a comment from carlos santana

"It's an honor to be a maitre d' and accommodate so many songwriters and (guest) artists," he said of his "Supernatural" and "Shaman" albums. "But there's a side of me, like Jeff Beck and Joe Satriani (whose albums are usually vocal-free), so I'll do an album of instrumentals that I call hymns."

you may wanna give carlos a call, joe:)

I thought this was pretty funny...

One evening last week, my wife and I were getting into bed. Well, the passion starts to heat up, and she eventually says "I don't feel like it, I just want you to hold me".

I said "WHAT??????"

So she says the words that I and every husband on the planet dread. She explains that I must not be in tune with her emotional needs as a Woman. I'm thinking "What was her first clue?" and I finally realize that nothing was going to happen that night, so I went to sleep.

The very next day, we went shopping at a big, unnamed depart- ment store, I walked around with her while she tried on three outfits. She could not decide which one to take so I told her to take all three of them. She then tells me that she wants matching shoes worth $200.00 a pair to which I say ok. And then we go to the jewelry department where she gets a pair of diamond earrings. Let me tell you... she was so excited. She must have thought that I was one wave short of a shipwreck, but I don't think she cared. I think she was testing me when she asked for a tennis bracelet because she does not even play tennis. I think I threw her for a loop when I told her that it was ok. She was almost sexually excited from all of this and you should have seen her face when she said, "I'm ready to go to the cash register".

I could hardly contain myself when I blurted out, "No, honey, I don't feel like buying all this stuff now." Her face went completely blank.

I then said "Really honey! I just want you to HOLD this stuff for a while". And then I added, "You must not be in tune with my financial needs as a Man."
