Hi everyone...

Clarky - So there is an "H" in music? I had no clue...LOL.

Jam007 - That show was never officially released.
sparrow - That looks awesome. I'll explain how to use the links in my next post.
tapper5 - Next, you should try to use the same fingering pattern on different parts of the guitar neck. Instead of starting on C, try starting on A or G. You'll see that you use the same pattern, but the notes will be different (look at some of the past stuff that Clarky has posted here)...
PhrygianDominant - That link didn't work. :-(

Edit: Ok, it works now...LOL. I wonder if Joe knew about the auction...maybe it isn't worth that much to him for some reason (although that would shock me).

For sparrow, and anyone else that doesn't know how to use links on Talk To Joe...

If I explain how to type everything, my examples will show up as links...and that won't help anyone. So, for my examples, I will use {}s instead of []s. When you do them on your own, use []s.

To create a link to http://www.google.com/ where the clickable text is the web address, do the following:

{link}http://www.google.com/{/link} It will look like this: http://www.google.com/

To create a link to http://www.google.com/ where the clickable text is the message "click here", do the following:

{link url="http://www.google.com/"} click here {/link} It will look like this: click here

Of course, you can substitute any web address for http://www.google.com/, and substitute any word(s) for "click here". And again, remember to use []s instead of {}s.

Does that make sense?

...Austin...

That Stratocaster that Dweezil is selling does have a lot of history behind it, but the fact that it is not all original might sway some people from buying it. I know that if I had the option of buying it, I would want it because Jimi had played/owned it, but it's not the same neck that Jimi played on, which for me takes away a lot of the allure. It sounds like Dweezil is strapped for cash. If Frank Zappa was my dad, I would'nt be selling his guitar.

Hi, Joe! I had to chuckle the other day because I had Slow Down Blues playing in the car and it was one of those CRAZY days at work. Just as you said, "you got to slow down" in the song, I realized I was doing 55 mph in a 30! You may have spared me a ticket! Anyway...my song of the day must be "You Saved My Life" - what a gorgeous song. I love everything about that song, but especially all the beautiful imbellishment you put in surrounding the tune-so masterful! I rode in silence after that one for a half hour. There was just nothing else I wanted to hear! Hope your chilling out...and maybe dreaming of new stuff already! Peace!

MegaBoyd: had to watch the Show Of Hands video after that!! I was there! And it was the last time I saw em :(

NonSmoker:: reasons aside, I thought Joe might wanna know. I reckon I would :-) but news that it's partial - hmmmm pretty sad really. How can DZ be short of cash? oh, better not go there ;-) Again, pretty sad really.... to have your unquestionably iconic name tarred by such an act.... oh wait... we should be careful. It's just opinion, after all - Jimi was Jimi, and nothing can change that. Frank was Frank, and nothing can change that either. If they are house-cleaning at Zappa-Central then let em ;-) but I think I'd put my money on your opinion ;-)

Tapper5 - Ok you know the C major scale then. You could also say you know Cmaj (ionian), D Dorian, E phrygian, F Lydian, G Mixolydian, A Aeolian (minor) and B Locrian.

Say, you learn C# major and it's modes for example? Also for example you could take the scale you already know all over the neck and try something different.

For example, I can't even count the hundreds of times i've played E minor or major or whatever all over the neck but I keep finding new ways to ascend and descend through the scale. I might run up the scale using 3 notes per string, 4 notes per string, 5 notes per string, or 3 notes on one string and 5 notes on the next. Or I may ascend by 3rds (1-3, 2-4, 3-5 etc...).

This is my knowledge of major scale stuff:

B, 5#s
E, 4#s
A, 3#s
D, 2#s
G, 1#
C, all naturals
F, 1b
Bb, 2bs (A#)
Eb, 3bs (D#)
Ab, 4bs (G#)
Db, 5bs (C#)
Gb, 6bs (F#)

But stuffed if I know where they go! Note (no pun intended sorry) there are 5 notes (or 5 frets) from one to the next.

I assume that wwhwwwh means wholewholehalfwholewholewholehalf? I always saw it written and heard it as ttsttts (tonetonesemitonetonetonetonesemitone) but who gives a fuzzynonos?

LATER, BEN
