Optical Studio One word man...'Funktacular', which is not a phrase I use often or lightly. Your tunes are great, I loved them, good job man. :-)

Has anyone got any ideas what I could make a website about for my AVCE ICT course? The criteria includes forms and database links (I have no clue how to do the latter of the two) and I'm making it not related to music or guitars seeing as 2 of 3 o f my other pieces of coursework are music/guitar related.

Cheers people

optical - wow... it'd be interesting to see what he thinks about my music...

so far.. The Baptist lead guitar part is 4 minutes done... 12 minutes to go...

slansh - yeah.. the Micks are a top bunch......

out on the lash with the locals, one said to me once..

"yor nodda bad paddy fer an English fokeryer.."

lol..

962 - I agree.. growth as a player is definately not linear...

I think I just relaxed and "practiced" the lick but recorded it at the same time in case the practice take was a good 'un... and also to see if I was consistantly getting stuck in the same place or at different places in each take...

I think that relaxing on the lick stopped me from over-playing.. so the lick just rolled off the ends of my fingers.... nice and easy...

and yes.. I think that I've just stepped up a notch because I'm noticing little improvements in my playing in general...

most satisfactory indeed... lmao..

jazzy - that Opeth track is fantastic... a real nice 70's vibe too...
mari - Lee and Dean were a little partial to mind opening chemicals... but really.. those guys are just like that anyhow... after a while you get used to it.... even to the point where the phone rings... I answer it... no one talks.. then I should "Lee.. it's for you.. it's your brother..."
Lee says something like "d'you recognise his voice?"
I said "yeah.. he's not saying anything.."

and one day we will jam... no probz... you'll love it..

mikesb - I dunno.. I think it'd go well...

I'd go and get monged with the mongs.. lmao..

optical - mong is a silly word really.. and it sounds silly when you say it.. which is I think most of the attraction.. lol..

Hi Joe, love your concerts! I have a question? I was wondering when you did the Namm Demo for the Peavey "JSX" amp, for "Satch Boogie, what delay did you use and did you just run your guitar in the delay and use the "Ultra" Channel? Thanks Joe, johnny "d." :-) P.s. Just bought the "JSX" and love it! ;-)

Yo Joe, this is Dude from Abbotsford. Just wanted to say that I went to see your 2000 tour in the Vancouver theatre. Absolutly amazing!!!!!!! I also went to see G3 03 with Ynwie. Your guitar, the one with the flames on it, I thought I was in heaven because that is one hot guitar. Listen, I'm fourteen, have a sweet electric guitar and i'm doing a demo CD in december. I was gonna play and record Always with me, Always with you but my mom said i needed to pay royalty checks. DAMN IT! So i was wondering if i could get your permission to play it without paying.

Please let me know man, you are my hero!!

Bears Sign Quarterback Jeff George

DA BEARS

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Jeff George signed a one-year deal with the Chicago Bears (news) on Monday, returning to the NFL after a three-year absence.

George will be the backup to Chad Hutchinson, who will make his first start in two years against the Minnesota Vikings (news) on Sunday.

"I'm just excited to be back in it. It's a great opportunity for me and I'm very thankful for them bringing me in," George said after his first practice with his new team. "Whatever role the Bears want me to do, I'm willing to do that. I can't say enough how happy I am and how thankful I am to be out here."

17th Century British Porn to Be Auctioned

how good could it be?

LONDON (Reuters) - The world's first known piece of printed pornography, described as the "quintessence of debauchery," is expected to reach up to 35,000 pounds ($65,040) when it is auctioned next month.

"Sodom," penned in the mid-1670s, has been attributed to John Wilmot, the second Earl of Rochester and is described by auction house Sotheby's as a "closet drama rather than for the stage" with pornography "in almost every line."

"We believe this is the first printed pornography in English literature, a unique copy of the quintessence of debauchery," Peter Beal, Sotheby's book specialist said.

"It is one of the most notorious publications in literature and makes most pornography written 300 years later seem tame."

The book centers on the decision made by a lustful King to "set the nation free" by allowing "buggary" to be "used thro' all the land" and then details the dire consequences.

The book, the only surviving copy, will be auctioned on December 16.

Plenty of room at inn for Mary and Joseph

LONDON (Reuters) - A hotel chain is offering couples called Mary and Joseph a free night's stay over Christmas.

"We are trying to make up for the hotel industry not having any rooms left on Christmas Eve 2004 years ago," said Sandy Leckie, manager of the Travelodge hotel in Covent Garden.

"Our hotel is definitely more comfortable than a stable. I just hope they don't bring their donkey," he said.

But the offer has just one proviso -- the Marys and Josephs have to prove their identities first.

Smiling Frowned Upon in Visa Photographs

PITTSBURGH - Imagine being denied a passport for, of all things, your teeth. It could happen, but not because they're crooked. Under new rules for visa photographs that began this summer, the State Department doesn't want to see them at all, according to a story published in Sunday's Pittsburgh-Post Gazette.

The new guidelines permit people to smile for passport and visa pictures but frown on toothy smiles, which apparently are classified as unusual or unnatural expressions.

"The subject's expression should be neutral (non-smiling) with both eyes open, and mouth closed. A smile with a closed jaw is allowed but is not preferred," according to the guidelines.

So why does the State Department frown on smiles?

Smiling "distorts other facial features, for example your eyes, so you're supposed to have a neutral expression. ... The most neutral face is the most desirable standard for any type of identification," said Angela Aggeler, spokeswoman for the State Department's Bureau of Consular Affairs, which handles travel-document guidelines.

A photograph of a person's face is considered the international standard for a "biometric" or physical identifier by the International Civil Aviation Organization, a United Nations (news - web sites) agency that sets international aviation safety standards. Last year, the organization announced standards for machine-readable passports which would include physical characteristics that computers could use to confirm people's identities.

"To allow for best possible comparison, if you smile or blink your eyes or turn your head, there would be fewer comparison points. So when you go to the counter, you will look at the camera in neutral face to offer the best comparison to the matching points on the picture in the passport," said Denis Chagnon, a spokesman for the International Civil Aviation Organization in Montreal.

Some photo shops and even immigration attorneys say they were blindsided by the prohibition against flashing pearly whites.

Mark Knapp, an immigration attorney with Reed Smith in Pittsburgh, said he knew about some of the other new guidelines for photographs but not the no-teeth rule. Knapp said he learned about the new guidelines from a colleague whose client's photo was rejected because of a toothy smile.

"You can't make this stuff up, honestly," Knapp said.

"What is interesting is the idea that you can't smile anymore and that they're rejecting photos. The idea that you can't smile is what most immigration lawyers find absurd," Knapp said.

Janet Stewart, who works at a downtown Pittsburgh photo shop, said she learned about the guideline the first day it went into effect because she had a photograph rejected.

"I'm the only photographer that says, 'Don't smile,'" she said.
