Tyrant Duke - You just listed the notes to use. I guess it's just a matter of knowing all the notes of every fret of every string all over the fretboard COLD. It's easier than it sounds really.

Hi, Joe... I'm not sure you'll ever read this, but I'll assume you will eventually...
I just want to tell you that SBM is, by far, your best album so far!!! You have never composed and played so well before. There isn't one Satriani album that I don't adore, but this one exceeded all my expectations!
I've been listening to you since "Surfin'" (didn't hear you before because I didn't know you... When I heard "Always with me..." for the first time, I could never forget it again... Didn't rest until I could play an acceptable version of the song on my Fender! It's still one of my all-time favorites...) and have grown as a guitarrist thanks to your music that thaught me lots of ways to explore my guitar deeper and deeper!
You were already my favorite guitar player and composer, but this album kicks ass!!! I won't say it's perfect (I might not love one or two tracks), but in general it's one of the best albuns I've ever heard... (Favorite song from SBM? Probably, "Mountain Song", but there are so many others... I love "chords of life" (so beatiful, so progressive...), "mind storm" (so powerful!),... Are you getting more progressive?
(About "chords of life", just a remark: when I saw Pia Vai's name on the cover, I've grown my expectations about her participation... When I heard the song, I loved it immediately, but was kind of disappointed about the usage of the harp... Expecting it would be more vastly explored, not just a simple background arpeggio.)
I could write about each song separately, but I prefer to say that you have never created something so complete, so beatiful in my opinion... (By the way, I'd love to hear your opinion about this album. Is it your favorite? How would you rate it?)
(I'm sorry if I'm asking things already answered, but I wasn't able to read all the posts in this site...)
I'm a non-professional portuguese guitar player that has always looked up to your technique as a goal, but knowing how far it is from my capabilities (and available time...) :(
Recently, I decided to record a rock album and I have no shame to admit that it could easily sound like a "Satriani imitation"... I'm sorry, but couldn't help it...
If you have the time (I suppose not, but it doesn't hurt to try...), I'd love to send you a copy so that you could give me your opinion... (to all the other fans: if you want to make a Satriani's fan happy, go to http://www.ptrocker.com download the album and give me your opinion about it... I'd love to hear it but remember that I'm just an amateur!!!)
Any plans of coming to Europe, Portugal?
To finish, Joe, I just want to thank you for all you've done and given to me!
Cheers to all the other JS's fans who are probably the only ones in this world to understand how I feel,
ptRocker

Hey JSClone1: I was actually working part time stocking at a grocery store (since I'm 20 and in college) but now that I'm getting to teach at a music store I can quit that, which is great because my wrists will be in better shape since I won't be lifting heavy objects. The session work is something I do on the side whenever I get a call to lay down some tracks, but hopefully I'll be lucky enough someday to get to do sessions almost exclusively. I'm trying to pattern my career after a local, Orlando based guitar genious, Angelo Jinotti. He's played on a lot of stuff, including the music in "friends" the TV show, and is a Carvin artist. He's a hell of a guitarist, he has both blazing technical virtuosity and the ability to morph into any sound or style. These are the things I've been trying to achieve for a long time now.

There seems to be quite a lot of problems with the tunings of double locking trems... make sure you stretch those strings after you put them on, after 2 stretches, it usually stays in tune pretty darn well. Then play them, make the strings adapt to movement. My lo pro edge is great, only minor tuning problems which can be fixed easily with 1/2 a turn on the fine tuners. Oh yea, don't forget to intonate and tighten all nuts and bolts. My strings last a long time. I use 9's and it's been a month already. I play my guitar a lot, especially with the whammy bar.

Clarky - It's got to be said that you are officially "OFF YOUR HEAD" lol. On the rhythm guitarist front although I don't have a 7-string guitar I can replicate the sound of one very well WITHOUT using a pitch shifter (hint, hint....).
Keep the theory coming......
Aarren
P. S. If you have time please feel free to email me the theory stuff you have. Your manager has my email address. Thanks,

Silmarien, where are you? I want to have a big moan about all the people around me who have such bad taste, and inflict it on me! Aarrgh, so much stuff is so sh**e! Loads of people I know say ,"Oh, I love this song so much!" when something comes on the radio, but they'll be saying the same about something totally different in 2 weeks time! And then my brother comes in and tells me to play something good on my guitar (what cheek). Oh dear, I despair.
