civgeek - Well, in poorly lit areas the roads have these things called 'Cats Eyes' down the middle, between the white lines. They don't light up per se, but they reflect the light of the car's headlights.

Zenfish:Hmmm, never heard of him.I take it that has no relevance with Zappas Bert Swaggart toon Its on“ The Best Band y Never Heard in Your Life” album, although the sentiments you posted come across similar, lol

On your other Question,I was born in Scotland where i lived for 23 years, moved to Dublin Ireland for 5 back t Scotland for 4 & i,ve been living in Barca for nearly 3 years now with my other half orange Tura & that as they say is that, lol

On another note,so t speak, thats some list y put me in with there,i,m flattered, these guys really know their stuff when it comes t Flamenco,i have t say i dont though, lol although i am now studying this amazing art in my spare time,i can fake it a bit but in comparison, any one of those cats could dust me in a sec,the flip side is people musicians “i call them people musicians because they see beyond notes” have a very healthy respect & an open mind for electric guitar players so i dont feel so erm.........useless,lol.I still get the occasional nightmare jazz/blues/ police wank coming t tell me i,m doing the wrong thing aka buy a BIG FAT guitar if y goin t play jazz *sigh* yet another one of the reasons why i prefer a normal day job now, having t listen t this consistent bull after gigs, 9/10 times from other guitarists with their circle of little police cadets but thanks t my girl/family/friends & the good people here at T2J i have a lot more faith in what i do.Yip,i,m climbing up that hill again my friend,my style, fuck em,i,ve had enough, onwards

Enough about me,what about yourself, whats your background Z?

Hi All:)

Just out of curiosity, has anyone here heard of the band "Saraya"?...

I used to have a tape with a song called "Love has taken it's toll".

It was very popular back in the late 80's.Does anyone know who the guitarist was?....

tetovo - Yeah, Reel Satriani is good. There are only a few different songs on the tape, but it's still cool. I love the alternate versions of LFG that are on there. Be warned, though, it's a little depressing to watch Joe write the song If in about 30 minutes... ;-)

DelfinoPie - There is no "set" time for soundchecks. Sometimes bands can do them as early as noon on the day of the show, and other times they may not do a soundcheck until an hour before the doors open...
civgeek - Ah...the wah search. I went to the Guitar Center in Sacramento a few weekends ago..."Yes, we have both [the Dunlop and the Morley]...but they're both out of stock."...

They're supposed to call me when they get either of them in so I can try 'em out... It's been a while, though, so maybe I should call them... I guess I'll wait another week or so before calling some other music stores in town...

Borak - You can do a Google search and you might be able to find a tab for SWTA. Or, you can go to Amazon and buy the tab book for the whole album...
Sky Ant - Yeah, I'll be seeing Dream Theater and Yes out here in LA...I'm just waiting for them to release the rest of the tour schedule. ;-)
962 - Congrats on the backstage pass!

Hey everyone, been a long time since i've posted regurlarly. Just been busy with music stuff etc.

I try and keep the self promotion to a minimum on here, but i have some new song samples as well as some video clips of me playing along to a couple tracks in the music section. I'd love to get your feedback on the stuff. Check it out and let me know what you think http://www.tyolivermusic.com

Thanks! Ty

MASTER YODA - Yeah, we have those too. It's different than what I was thinking. There are some roads in Norfolk and Milton Keynes that have these cool solar powered lights in place of the cat's eyes.

Do Tha Stu Nah Nah Nah Nah Nah lol. I don't mind about the sound checks and all that I was just wondering what time artists generally arrive at the venues.

But I guess by telling me they can do sound checks around noon gives me an insight to what time they might get there, so thanks :-).

962 Congrats on the backstage pass!

Tomorrow I'll be going the opening night of Harry Potter III. I've seen various kinds of reviews so it'll be interesting to see what it's like. I think it will be harder and harder to make movies of the books as they keep getting longer. You can only fit in so much in a movie if you want to keep it under five hours. Maybe they will divide one book into two movies, who knows.

Clarky,

Yes I remember the lydian dominant thing quite well. In fact, I still play it note for note (at least I think I've got it right)! I also applied it to a few blues progression other than just the bVI-V7 minor blues changes. Quite distinctive sound, that. I just love the melodic minor modes in general, not quite sure why...

Jon

P.S. When in the minor blues changes, I love to move from the lydian dominant on the bVI chord into a straight up octatonic over the V7 (preferably with b9/#9). Makes for a sick cadence if you do it right!

Dodgy Setlists :-S

My setlist completely changes when I view it. Bit dodgy. Needs sorted, as does this board > orders everything backwards apparently. Anyway, anyone else got the same problems?

HELLO EVERYOOONEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

JESUS I MISS THIS PLACE A LOT!

How's everybody? I just had an exam today, and it's just the first of my final exams this year... now it's nonstop 'till 6th of July... :(

I picked up my guitar this afternoon and I felt a bit sad... I miss having lessons and composing and coming here to ask for tips and hints... My playing is so poor... it lacks a load of salt and pepper... I NEED LESSONS!!! But I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THEM!!!! AAAAARRRRGGGHHHHH!!!! My fingers are slow, I almost only improvise on the minor pentatonic and I can't make a decent chord progression! I suck!

Ok... now that I emptied all my bad feelings about me I shall continue...

trutina- Hi there! Thanks for asking for me! When Alexandre told me you asked for me I really wanted to come here and say hi to everyone... but...once again... no time... this isn't my computer, so I rarely have access to it... :( But finally today I have some time to rest! :) Tomorow I'll start studying for my next exam.... :( Any news? How're you? (your health, your playing, your life, bla bla bla...) Any news on the T2J CD? I'm completely out of every subject here, cuz I don't have time to read all the posts... :/

How's everyone else?

PhryDom- How're you man? I spoke with Alexandre and got a bit worried... Hope everything is good now... :)

IS THERE LOVE IN SPACE? - Great GREAT songs! Joe Satriani, you will never die! You're already a legend! One day I hope to play as good as your dog plays! (In case you have one...)

EVERYONE- If you want to adress me, please write migupais on your message, cause next time I come here I'll probably have 1341231545 new posts so i'll use the advanced search... :/ Thanks

WELL, have to go to sleep...

(Geee, I missed posting...)

Does anyone know if Joe and Steve have their aftershow get-together at the same time? Or if you win passes here you only get to see Joe or vice versa? I know the risk of any of them not being there is present, but it would be kinda disappointing if you win backstage passes and only get to meet one of them... not that I'm gonna complain if I win, I just wanna have it all lol!

Edit: Hello Migupais! Good to see you, and good luck with your exams! :-)

Hey Joe, have you ever considered taking Tim Reynolds out for some G3 shows? I realize that Tim isn't as well known, as some of the guitarist you have featured in the past, but Tim can go toe, to toe with anyone.

Dragonchild, it's been my experience 2x to get backstage, the last one was the G3 with Yngwie, anyway, we had a chance to meet all 3 guitarist, even Billy Sheehan showed. so you'll probably get to see them all together since it's next leg of the G3.
