JSClone hm...interesting name...I'll run it by the bandmates :)
Do The Stu remember there was this joke email that said KFC didn't use real chickens? It said that they were genetically altered organisms that were fed through tubes (a'la The Matrix) that didn't grow beaks, feathers or claws...just bones and meat, so that the company could save money by not having to clean them - just unhook 'em and cook 'em. Anyway were were all joking about it and someone said, "what would they call them in the lab?" So we all thought and this guy at the bar said, "Animal 57". And there you have it....

r6rocker: You may be on to something there! Or maybe make their songs on the same tracks as ours so you have to listen to our songs before theirs lol.
JS Clone 1: Email me what you have man, I'll give it a listen. I just finished the final mix on my song. I had another one done a couple of weeks ago but I couldn't sit still and ended up doing this one as well. The first one I did was a bare bones bluesy kinda thing that I really like but doesn't really reflect my style. The new tune is all about my style. Or lack of it, as it were. I might post the blues tune on my iuma later today if I get time.

ovation1: Thanks for the Paul Gilbert info. That goes with what I have heard from someone else - that RacerX was real shreddy, then Mr Big got a bit poppy, then his solo stuff is very poppy! hehe. I might check out RacerX next then. I just got Mr Big: Big, Bigger, Best or whatever it's called! can't even remember, but some of it's really good!
Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence is such a good album. I think the solo to Goodnight Kiss is so good - it sounds like someone crying. the lyrics are quite harsh too!
interesting to see what people make of locking trems - I love the good ones. I have a good one on my Jem, but I have seen cheaper, bad ones on things like RGs and Jacksons................anyone here got a JS2000? wassit like?

I agree, the Satchurated album cover with the streaky Satch is the best, now if Ovation can figure out a back cover idea to match that we'll be set

jsclone1 You've cut your hair since those photos, haven't you? Or was that Phrydom? Oh dear, I'm getting all mixed up.
Ooh, I've just wasted a couple of hours playing Purple Haze riffs, solitare on the computer, and so on, and now it' 9 o clock and I've still got to do my maths paper. What fun.

Crystal: What you have to do is once you have got your mix how you want it ie, with all your effects and levels etc, go to the VST Mixer and click the Export Audio button (its just above the main level faders). What happens then is you have a window in front of you that looks like a Save window. Name your file and, unless you want all of the audio to be put into the current file, uncheck the box that says "Add created file to current song". Look in the save as file type pull down box and see if the option to save as an mp3 file is available (I cant remember if it is). If not, make sure you select Waves (.wav) and make sure the stereo box is checked then click "Create File". To then convert it to an mp3 I use Musicmatch Jukebox as this has a convert option. If you dont have this search the net for a product that can (you can probably get it for free or there may even be a plugin for Cubase). Also check your cd burner software as this may have the convert option. If you need any more help come back to me.
Hope this helps,
Aarren

JS Clone 1: Yeah IUMA is still all jacked up I guess. I just tried to upload something and I can't even get as far as you did. I checked out the bulletin boards and all the posts there were pretty negative. I guess I'm going to have to consider my iuma page folded. I tried to upload a song about a month ago with the same results I'm getting now. I just figured they'd have it fixed by now. No such luck.

regenius:
can I suggest something that is really 'gonna cook your noodle later' (if anyone can tell me where that is quoted from they get, uuuhhhh......points!) - don't buy an RG. they look cool but the pickups aren't as hot as they're made out to be, and they can be an ass to play sometimes. I don't know what it is, but every time I play a RG it makes me make mistakes!
I can THOROUGHLY recommend the Ibanez Ergodyne Guitar. i think it's the EDR series, or EDA. I can't remember, cause one is the Ergodyne Bass and one is the Ergodyne Guitar. Anyway, the Ergodyne guitar is in your price bracket, comes with a Flloyd Rose system and a pair of really sweet EMG humbuckers, an is a lovely shape too. it's easy to play and will help you learn great things. I rate it really highly, and I play a Jem7V, so it's up against some stiff competition!
Also, bear in mind the big changes at Ibanez this year. Rumour has it that Ibanez are totally changing the bridges on all their guitars except the Satriani and Vai signature guitars! hope that helps.
don't suppose anybody has an Ibanez PGM? Paul Gilbert Model - Ive been intrigued by it for ages, and really want to play one, but it's really hard to find.

r6r - totally agree with you 100% about Symphony X and Suppers Ready....and one of my fave concepts of all time [in addition to The Wall] is War of the Worlds... also Amused to Death...
nick - if I understood JSC1's post correctly he was talking about a player that has excessive pick noise cause by the impact of the pick against the strings... I suggest using a different eq setting [a little less high top] and mute the strings a little at the bridge with your right hand... this don't cure the problem but can reduce it.....
crispin - the Korg is around £100 to £150 more than the Yam... given what I'm spending, I'm more keen on functionality so 100 - 200 extra would be money well spent if the Korg stood head and shoulders above the Yam...
jsc - pick angle is a good point... try not to 'dig in' too deeply especially when speed picking.... guys like SRV play deep and hard but they use much less gain than the likes of us so the signal is much less compressed.... all that dirt and compression we use has the effect of making the tiniest noice as loud as a note played.... think of the pick like a stylus.. use the very tip of a sharp thick pick... this works for me.... blunt / rounded pick tips spend more time in contact with the strings is the string is struck and therefore causes more noise.... this works for me...
ovation - fingers crossed that it's not me doing the CD burning... but a wholesale CD manufacturer 'cos someone big does the distribution.....

Hey Satch first off I'd like to say that this website is real cool and I hope to someday get a responce back that would be even cooler.I saw you perform last year 2003 at the Austin Tx music hall with Dream Theater. And I also seen you the year before that with Steve Via and John the guitarist for Dream Theater.Which was also a Kickass show.My real name is Arnulfo Salinas, I'm 40yrs. young and I play guitar myself also. I'm currently working on a new C.D. myself.I like to tell you that your a very strong influence on my style. I love instrumental rock and I'm glad to see someone keeping it alive.I don't know if this is possible but when my c.d. is finished I'd like to down load you a sample just to see what you think of my playing. To have some imput from you would make everything groove.I don't go to very many concert's unless the artist is very extreme in his playing. So keep KickingAss and taking Names.I'll be in and out of this site so hope to hear from you soon.
