civgeek:

You know, I've noticed that classical position Joe takes sometimes now that you mention it. I'll have to give that a shot. And that's a great idea about trying the lick on a lower string higher up. Why didn't I think about that? I'm not ready to give up on the 8-3, though. It's a matter of pride now! And I'm actually only 5'6" by the way. I can do the 7-3 pull no problem. Guess I'll just woodshed a bit more.

OME:

The Cherry Lane transcription I have by Jesse Gress shows the 8-3 pull 4x at the end of the lick mixed in with the 7-3 pull. I double checked to make sure I wasn't misreading the tab. Guess I'll just have to suck it up and try harder! That lick definitely fits into a minor pentatonic blues scale. Thanks for responding.

Best Regards,

Mike.

Edited to add the pentatonic blues comment.

Hello! Can't believe I'm actually mailing Joe Satriani! Absolutely love your excellent work! I wanted to ask a question if I may. A few years ago (I think it was around 1997-98) a friend of mine had a CD which he obtained with a copy of Guitarist Magazine, featuring a "bonus track" by yourself. I never knew the name of this track, if in fact it ever had an official title but I really loved that tune. I had a copy of it but my car was stolen about two years ago and I lost it then. I have been trying to obtain it ever since but as I don't even know the title or date. I have tried everything. Joe, if you really are out there would you be able to tell me how I could obtain a copy? Needless to say, I have every one of your albums and this track is on none of them. Many thanks indeed. Suzie - Thanks for that!!! I remember being advised about that before, but I totally forgot - thanks for reminding me. I get the majority of my work through the East Sussex Music service, but it would always be nice to get some more private work since it's cash in hand, but also because I don't have to follow stupid company policies!!!!!! Thanks again.

Boss ps-5

Is great for harmonizing and a few other features too, i tihnk its mroe advanced than the old hamronist, i.e its newer... but it has a good range of harmonies and different options in doing so, It has a good range of intervils, andu can play them in teh detune mode, pitch shifter, harmoniy and somethin else.. u can set the speed of the harmony and how much of the original note and new harmonised note, all off the settings can produce polytones,, and u can play the harmonies diatonicly or parallell

The New CD - Super Colossal

For me - sometimes a CD's cover grows on me. The same may be true with Super Colossal. Each cover is different. All that matters is what is on the CD music wise - the cover helps the causal purchase.

Maybe Joe will have a single that catches fire on the radio and the CD sells like hot cakes. Here in Chicagoland, I don't get to hear much of Joe on the radio - maybe you do else where, but not in Chicagoland. When you do - it is typically only Flying in the Blue Dream.

I have circled March 14 on my calendar - cannot wait !!
