Hello,

First let me get this of my chest LYA is awsome, can't wait for the show in Amsterdam. (I'm gona upgrade my ticket full package deal, hehe)

I Am currently working on a inductorless wah pedal. (taken from the ADA MP-2 preamp) This is designed by the same guy that made the EMB Audio Remote Wah and that is the sound i want to get. (I'll always keep using an inductor based wah for a little more quack;))

Annywho i was wondering if you ever used one? And do you still have/use it. Some rumours on the net suggested you had one. (if you do i'll be foced to hypnotize you and have you give the most wahsome wahmachine to me:))

Thx, Eric

P.S. please get Ibanez to make an Alder Body JS-1000 :)

I love the riff at the beginning. I definitely hear the ZZ Top feel creeping through the woodwork in some parts of the song. And I like the little breakdowns with those jazzy chords. This is destined to be a great album.

P.S. It's already on Youtube?! Wow

*Edit- Sorry to distract everybody from Light Years Away, but I just found this guy who has nailed Joe's tone perfectly. He made his own song called The Voyagers. It is really, really good. You could tell he has a strong Satriani influence, but he has his own style as well. It has that Crystal Planet vibe and feel to it. It also sounds a little Arabian, which Joe plays in the Crystal Planet album here and there.

So I am taking my son, age 11, to the concert and meet & greet in Boston on the 9th of December. I am wondering if it is possible for him to bring his guitar and have Joe sign it. Concern #1: would Joe be ok with this? Concern #2: would the venue - house of blues - have an issue with him bringing it in? Concern #3: what do we do with it during the show? and/or is there time for me to run it back to the car after the meet and greet, but before the show starts, or do I have to mind it during the entire show? Any thoughts or responses would be appreciated.

Thanks

Michelle - thanks , glad you like em. I first saw ZZ TOP in the 70s touring the Fandango album with Canned Heat opening for them. Billy Gibbons looks real thin , I wonder if he is sick?Dunno....

OMG - Light Years Away - sooo good , can hardly wait! I am going to Colorado to spend Christmas with my kids. They are going to see JOE for the first time! in Denver.

Christmas = Silent Night / Holy Night Jam.....please!!

I agree with DTS.. the new tune is really playful and FUN!

Here's something that I found that is REALLY cool! You know you want that new song on your player, but how to download, right?

Ta da!

Then use this to "fix" the wrong tag info (vbr's often give wrong durations).

Also, how many Dethklok fans we got up in here? Brendon Small is one of my new favorite guitarists, gotta be the best kept secret in guitar music, he's just really, really good. (IMHO).

Here then is a "new" song, along with a rumor of a forthcoming Dethalbum III *droool*.

One last thing, anyone who hasn't checked out the new Paul Gilbert album, Fuzz Universe really ought to do themselves a favor and give it a listen... holy canoley! I have not been able to stop listening to it since I got it. Maybe his finest playing to date, and that IS saying something!

Blowtorch is my current favorite song (right after the title track, Fuzz Universe).

smooches,
» Phy³

This is actually a direct question for Joe regarding the Guitar Night concert in Amsterdam, Holland, at october 29 th. My wife (bless her) bought us 2 tickets as a surprise. Before I post my request let me explain why: on april 2th our son Noah was bron due to complications. He didn't surive his birth. Joe, your music has been an important part in keeping me standing. I played your music many times while driving to work. Especially the song "Love Thing"has been the song that I listen to to remind me of Noah. For me the song holds al the emotions I feel: love, sadness, and a sort of tenderness. It would mean a lot to me if you could play this song at Guitar Night. I hope you read this before the concert. Thanks for the music and what it means..... You can't know what your music does to people when you write it but it means it lot. Thanks for pouring out your heart and soul in the songs. Greetings form Holland.

Holee Schlamolee Joe, can't stop listening to the new song, YOWZA!!! Thanks for giving us this early, it feels like Christmas!

Roo and Oxley, I knew about Joe's time in The Squares of course, just wasn't sure that was a legitimate recording, but Roo cleared that up :) Wonder if it will sell for a mint?

It's in the low 50's outside and rainy, and I'm inside sweating cuz I keep listening to the new tune and dancin in my cube-space, LOL!!

Brian, I took notice to his thinness too, but didn't say anything. He's a vegetarian, maybe that's it? Joe's gone the way of the stick too. As long as they're healthy... Billy Can ya believe Sammy Hagar is two feckin years OLDER than Billy. Crazy kids!

Remy, yes I do, but there's nothing going on.

I've listened to LYA a bunch now...I really like it, still. The riff is awesome; it's a longer one for Joe. It sounds like something John Petrucci or Steve Morse would come up with.

Aaand, I finally bought my Chickenfoot Lake Tahoe tickets. I'll be there with my brother and dad, probably in the early afternoon-ish.

Now to catch up on a few days' worth of old posts...

Skippygirl - Yeah, I'd like to go to at least a few west coast shows, but I can't make any decisions until we know the specific dates/venues. So I'm crossing my fingers that things work out nicely for me. :-)

And if things go the way they have in the past, unfortunately, people outside the US won't be able to get signed CDs. I guess that's been a Sony decision with the preorders/contests?

michelle - That sounds like a cool Bonham gig...thanks for the info. I agreed to go wine tasting with some friends that day (argh!) so I can'at go. I'll be the one driving, though...maybe I can convince everyone to head back early? ;-)
oxley11 - The Squares were Joe, Jeff, and Andy Milton on bass. I think they only lasted for a few years, but they did have several songs recorded. Joe talked about them a bit last year, when he saw I had posted links to a few songs. Go to the bottom of page six of his posts if you want to read...
Ozzy_Fudd - Congrats on the U2 tickets...are they GA tickets, at least? You'll have a great time either way; I had a blast at the Rose Bowl gig last year that's now available on DVD. And one of the times I saw them in 2005, I was sitting in the very last row of the venue...but let me tell you, as long as you're inside, it doesn't matter where you are. You'll have fun. :-)
BobCliffe - Your link went to a YouTube directory page...what's the specific track you were talking about?
Pip55 - Yeah, I think LYA is a good one. And you're right, I left Mike out of my description...shame on me. He doesn't do much on this particular track, though...hopefully he's more present on some of the other stuff.
Daxel123 - If you buy one of the meet and greet packages ($300ish per person) you'll definitely be able to get your guitar signed. If you don't want to go that route, though, Joe is usually pretty good about signing things for fans who wait politely by the bus after the show.
jimbojim - The UnList moved to YahooGroups, but it's nearly dead. I sent a message with a link to the new Satch song...that was probably the first message sent in a few months.

So you aren't missing out on anything, but if you want the new info then send me an email (my address is in my profile here).

axeshredderjc - Your birthday is coming up? When? Happy birthday, in case it's today...
Listening to: Dave Weiner - Shove The Sun Aside (current song: Dave's Party Piece)

...Austin...

YAY! Austin, can Chris and I stand in front of u, yer dad and brother? U could be our "barrier" against the eegits that I'm sure will be there stomping all over us, lol!! Good to hear yer gonna make it, that's you 3, us, and Ian...don't think any of the rest of the gang is going this time. Where you staying? We're at the Mont Bleu, I did hotwire so dint get a choice...about 3/4's of a mile from the venue so we'll drive and park in the parking garage...but that way we can bring chairs and a nicely stocked cooler with us and tuck it away before the show :) I'ma remember the 1000 block sunscreen this time too ffs!! Oh, and we're getting in Friday night, when u arriving...wanna do Sammy's fer dinner?

Phydeaux_3, thanks for the info on how to convert youtube to an mp3. I sent it to my son, now lets see if he can make it work. He's good with computers, but some access is blocked on the house computer, so I dunno if this will help him or not. I'm dying for him to hear the new song!!!

The unlist....is deader than DeaD. Phooey.

Peace, it's not too late to get Tahoe tickets maybe!! You can hang with us, we're good peeps! Don't be afraid, just DO IT!!

Cuuuuuuuuube, u know u luv meh :) C'man, do the bump wit me! LOL!

Edit: Pip....shaddddapppp, u've infected me with yer linkage issues!! U...U...U....PIP U!! LOL!
