I'm back. After eight hours of sleeping I can still remember every moment when I was on the concert. What can I say about Deep Purple: f****** amazing. I went on the show with my friends. First we were standing in front of the hall and watching all those rockers and metalheads coming. The feeling was great. Then we went at the hall and we managed to come almost in front of the stage. First there played some old rockers who were good, but they were too old and there was no feeling. Then some guys came and cleaned all the stage. We've been waiting for twenty minutes, when suddenly lights shut down. We started to scream and then they came on the stage. And they started to play my favourit song: The highway star. Almost all of us sang with them. They played some of their hits first: Space truckin, Speed king... After that some songs from Bananas album. The lightshow was amazing. Then came my favourite part: Steve Morse started to play a crazy solo. I was standing five meters away of him so I saw his fingers moving up and down the neck. He was playing for three minutes. Cool. Then Don Airey started to play a solo on piano-he is one of the best piano players I've ever seen. And then the moment we 've been all waiting for: Smoke on the water. The hall exploded. All of us were jumping and screaming. They changed solo a little so the song was longer than usual. And then they simply said goodbye and went off the stage(I think they were acting). We started to scream: we want more! We were screaming for five minutes. Of course they came back with five more songs. The show lasted for two hours. At the end I noticed I'm all wet(no wonder; I was jumping for two hours). I lost my voice too. That was a moment of my short life.

After the show I came to the conclusion:

1. Old rock is still one of the best styles ever

2. Steve Morse for G3!!!(did I mention he has a great haircut).

Hey Ovation!!! Nylon strings rock!!!! Just listen to Strunz and Farah or DeLucia , Jesse Cook a Canadian who plays in a pop-flamenco style is quite good also!! Let's not forget Steve Stevens, an absolute tone maven on electric but he can wail on nylon string as well!!

I recently purchased a Yamaha CGX-171SCF. It is a thin bodied (and necked I might) add nylon string guitar meant for flamenco soloing. It has two electronic sounds, a built in acoustic bridge pickup AND a microphone thingy pickup built into the box under the sound hole, it is on a gooseneck that can be positioned/adjusted!!! This guitar plays and sounds great!!! Since I got it, my other acoustics have been rotting in their cases!!!!

Wish YJM had used one of these on G3 coz his Ovation sounded tinny and although he was playing amazing acoustic runs they sounded way too jangly and not articulate!! I thing a nylon string would better suit most of the acoustic stuff he does!!! Hey maybe he'll go lutey like his idol!!! (Ritchie not JSB)LOL!!!!!

mikesb: I agree man!!.... I love the touch, I love the feel and sound!!.... Hell yeah on the player's you mention, and lol on your new Yamaha, hehe, I can see why your other acoustic's are rotting in their cases, lol!!.... btw, a nylon would suit YJM better, it is only a natural choice, but we all know YJM is not normal, lol....

Oh, I forgot to mention.... Ottmar Liebert aint bad on a nylon'er either!! ;-)

Yeah my SOTD is Jose Feliciano's version of Light My Fire which I have mastered over the last few days, that song sounds great on the aforementioned nylon string...

Now I am working on Summerland by King's X, that sounds great on nylon as well!!!

....Again, I'm on a post fury because I just picked up Anthology!!!! I am so surprised no one mentioned the back cover!!!! Awesome pic of early JOE!!.... With that in mind....

Mr. Satriani: I notice from the liner notes that you use images in your head to write alot of songs and thought it was interesting that you grabbed a bass to start the process for most of your songs.... Sounds like a good way to lay down the foundation of a track, and I found it surprising that on Until We Say Goodbye you said "I did'nt write lyrics or a story as I often do with my instrumentals, I kept it to myself" .... Do the unseen lyrics help you write the music, tell the story, so to speak?? I guess that explains why your music is so three dimensional!! Wow, thank's for the liner notes, and thank's for giving us prop's in the credits!! ;-)

Hi Joe and everyone !!!

Tonight we'll be playing at a "Toy's for Tot's" benefit at the Northwoods Riders Motorcycle Club....(yes, bikers are really softies at heart...lol)........everyone is welcome, come one come all !! This is one of those gigs where I always give my share of the booty back to the club because there are so, so many kids out there who don't have a good Christmas due to a lack of $$$. The feeling I get from contributing to this cause is very strong because at one time in my life, I was one of those kids. Have a happy and safe weekend....you are all the best of the best.

Sharif.......very sorry about your truck but I'm glad to hear you are OK. Peace, D@ve

Ovation:Thanks for takin the time t listen bro, some of the tracks C Minor & Gypsy are about t get an overhaul, cant stand playing t midi files but it was great t record the solo parts 2.I,ll hopefully have that replaced with some nylon string the small weeks of Jan.Shame about the band "SBM" idea coming to a halt, tis the way of things, all the lads work pro so pulling it together is more or less impossible at this stage, still, all is good i have a working guitar rig again WAYHAY!2 years playing guitar with no amp,i,d almost forgotten how good it felt.Dangleberry Dog has been on the warpath t find a suitable donor for his genes and has had some success it appears,i,ll spare y the details, lol.Good luck t you n your own at christmas & in the N Y n thanks again for listening.

To all in the site including the man himself Mr J.S,Last post here from me till possibly mid Jan/Feb till then have a monster lickin grumble n an all the way t 11 new year,Enjoy
