WOW!!! Thanks a lot for this brilliant new album!! I think that I have all of your records, but "Super Colossal" is coming my favorit. I'm a great fan of you since 1986 and it's one of my biggest dream to see you once "live". So please let me now, when you are in Germany near "Munich", or Italy "Milano".

Many Greats from Bavaria

wwwdotcomhere OK Retard!! .
so a blank cd cost say 10 cents.. how much does printing cost? how much do graphics and artwork cost.. and duplication must be free.. i did not include the price of glass masters..

for instance ..say a run of 1000 cd cost $1500 .. thats a dollar fifty /cd.. say your artwork ..layout cost 1000 .... thats an other dollar on the cost..
now mastering ... say you get a good deal .. whole cd done for 1000.. thats an other dollar/cd
so now we are up to $3.50 cost../cd.
since recording aint free..say you spent 5000.. on recording your master works..

that an other 5/cd

so now the cost is$8.50/cd

so to make any money at all you mark it up $10..

how much are you really making ?

my president well i dont have one...

learn about the business before you condemn it..

i still think your a moron... have a nice day!!

death cube k,

"Critics allege that the RIAA is, in effect, an organized cartel which artificially inflates and fixes the prices for CDs."

"In 2005, the RIAA sued Candy Chan of Michigan, for the actions of her daughter, 13 year old Brittany Chan. When the court ruled in favor of the mother, dismissing the case with prejudice, the RIAA proceeded to sue Brittany Chan's daughter. The case is pending in federal court."

Yes, I understand the industry fully. If you don't voluntarily give up your hard earned money to it, it will come after you and your kids.

Noppa, "I was just thinking of the things I learned from Ukki, not by him lecturing about those things, but from his example; the important things that really matter in this mad world: diligence, honesty, humbleness and respecting other people and nature... Thank you, Ukki.".....I think I'm going to print that and put it on my wall. That is such a clear, well-ballanced observation, and one I whole-heartedly agree with ~ thank you. Peace and warm regards friend!

Dark Ripper, all of Vai's albums are mostly instrumental. "Passion & Warfare" is purely instrumental, as is "Alien Love Serets", although both have tracks which do, technically, have vocals on, but they're not really 'songs'. "The 7th Song" has none at all.
DCK/gotta have joe, oops, please both excuse me for being so unobservant! haha, maybe we sould all take up the habit of calling each other by different names, just to confuse the n00bs! hehehe

Since you've already downloaded Joe's music illegally, you should write a check, in the full amount, to Joe Satriani and send it to him. That'll guarantee he gets his full share.

Blue MoonNice pickguard, I like it. I wish I could do that. If I attempted it, it woud end up just looking like some kid took a marker and scribbled. Nice work. Post up another pic once you finish it. Ever paint a guitar? I'm thinking about giving one of my guitars a paint job. I have an older guitar that I took apart and never replaced the parts. I might use it to try and find a paint job that looks pretty nice. Lol! I found silver metallic spray paint the other day. Lol! I want to see how a few coats of that and laquer come out...either will look bad or very cool.

WOW! This Monday morning I came back home after 1:30 a.m. after attending CHRIS REA farewell tour concert at Rosengartenplatz, Mannheim, Germany. THAT WAS COOL! THAT WAS AMAZING! Guitar, voice and, most of all, such a beautiful melodies. Although I am listening his music since early school age, I am not really a “jazzee blue” kind of person, so I am listening blues not that often, but there in the concert I was just spellbound. I am sure that thing will live in me through the rest of my life. It’s a pity that his state of health forced him to stop touring… It reminds how fragile we are. I hope and pray for the best for him.

Well, same Monday at 7 a.m. I was up to go to the office, so by the evening was half-dead and after all that I’ve seen I felt like being inside of the Joe’s “Theme for a Strange World”.

Cheers.

death cube k I'm not against what you said at all, but I bet CD stores definitely jack CD prices up so they make alittle bit more off them. I can't stand going to a CD store and pretty much every CD I want to buy is $18.99+! It's ridiculous! Too bad there's really nothing to do about it, other than buy it off Amazon.com...But, for some reason all the stuff I've been buying and want is pretty costly for a CD and/or DVD! I'll let you finish...if you already aren't done...I might have heard a 10 count?!

Guitarmiester your speaking about sometthing all together different .. its called commerce. its the back bone of the north american economy.

even the guitars and pedals you like are jacked up by sellers.. so they can make money too..for providing the service .

most likely the cd store are paying for the stock they have on a month to month basis.. the bigger the chain .. the cheaper the cd. cause they are moving more , and getting a better rate from the distributor..

this is basic stuff kids.

Greetings Fellow Satchlanders

FIrst Things First...

Cheesey- HAPPY BIRFDEE !!!!!! You spring chic!!!!!

Cuthbert1776- Thank you for the background. My first impression was 'Atlas Shrugged' but wasn't sure. So we should all be asking "Who is John Galt". No, he was not the lead singer for Head East in the '70s. I will study the philosophical details, it sounds right up my alley. Talk about despair with our ability to change/better the world around us (stop the motor); you and Zinc have got to see Lord of War; it IS out on DVD. Good exercise in futility.

Zinc- Love your absolute zero post. Not cold here, just not warm.

Death Cube K & wwwdotcomwhocareshere- Stop it you two. Certs is a breath mint AND a candy mint!

To Whom It May Concern- Only one comment received on my silly 50th post? (Thank you Ron {you know who you are}) I want you all to know how hard I worked on that stupid rant--it took my feeble little mind literally seconds to concoct such a ridiculous speel. I think I deserve at least some disrespect or otherwise terse comments for this blatant display of abject stupidity! Of course I don't REALLY consider my measely 50th post on this board to be any real accomplishment of any substance but I at least hoped it to be somewhat amusing, albeit pathetic. Just for that I am posting the same absurd crap again, dammit!

962 - Hello my friend :-) !!! I can`t wait to see your photos ;-). Let me tell you the story about that bridge. Actually the name of that Bridge is PONTE (Bridge) 25 de Abril (April 25th) because after April 25Th of 1974 we had Democracy in Portugal. During barely 50 years we had a dictatorship that was very bad to the Portuguese People. Before the day of Revolution the name of the Bridge was Ponte Oliveira Salazar (the name of the dictator). You can read a little bit about the Portuguese Story on ALIVE IN A ULTRA WORLD STEVE VAI ALBUM :-). Have a good week my friend, all the best :-) !!! Regards!!!

GOOD WEEK MY FRIENDS, T2Y LATER :-) !!!

WARM REGARDS
