Clarky Yeah Maceo has sweet grooves alright ;-) ............ up to, but not including being sick Man surely that has to be a challenge for you ? Are you going to argue the unexpected barf case ? You know.............. 'Man, I don't know what happened, I only had a few, I must be run down' (with tinitus !!!!!!!!!!!) lmao I get the feeling that the corporate dudes will get to see the 'real' Clarky after a few anyway- heh heh. btw How f**king loud do you need to practise ? lol
Jimmy Kane Yeaaah ! ......... The Winner ;-) She is one good looking girl and that's for sure, but I think that her voice just makes her even more beautiful, crystal pure ..........sweeet.

dragonchild: I'll second the song "Rain" by Uriah Heep. That is one of my favorite bands from the good ole 70's. I know they still are producing music these days but they were never the same when David Byron and Ken Hensley left.

Clarky - Thanks for your good advice. I think I'm quite a nice guy (and I certainly try to be...), and so far it's only really been my friends that have given me work - but there's nothing to stop them recommending me, I guess. I'm starting to get to know my kit really well too. If I hear a sound in my head I can easily pull it out of my little box within a minute. The problems arise when the producer says things like "can you give me sort of twangy sound with a bit of a jangle?". WHAT THE FUCK DOES THAT MEAN?! lmao... As far as heavy bands go; I don't know who you already know but I'd definitely recommend Fear Factory, Pantera, Killswitch Engage, Deftones, The Used, Dillinger Escape Plan, Korn, Machine Head, Meshuggah, Pain Of Salvation, and Tool.

Ethn yeah I think it's installed on here somewhere, if not I'll go and get it again... previously I was opening it in Cakewalk and working from the staff... but it got too pain in the arse for me cos of the ever-changing instrumentation... which instrument's doing the guitar bit now? etc....lol
Beautiful women... man there're so many!!!... a friend of mine, Rachel Stevens, Angelina Jolie, Gillian Anderson, Monica Belucci, Jennifer Love Hewitt, the list goes on and on and on! lol

r6r - up to but not including being sick is my regular high end pass... it takes great control and dscipline.. but I am well practiced.. lol.. the corparation knows us guys in Engineering well.. they know what to expect.. however.. this year they're stupid enough to let us out of our containment pen so that we can mix freely.. stupid bastards.. it's their own fault... we refuse to be held responcible for anything we do becase they sould know better... last year it was noted that engineering shows signs of intelligence as we never attacked the same part of the fence twice when probing it for weaknesses... maybe that's why they're letting us out this year.... they are so going to regret this...
letting Raptors in amongst a flock of lambs to see if they can be friends... stupid... stupid.... stupid....
so how loud do I pracitce at ? loud enough to get good vibes.. this time however it must have been way too loud.... my stupid mistake.. and now I'm paying for it... 2 days now and the ringing is still there - although getting better...
yoda - you are a cool guy and easy to get along with which is a great attribute for a session player of for a guy in a touring band.. I know many musicians that aren't though... working on someone's song telling them "it should go like this", "no, I'll not play it like that", "you should do xxx", "look I know because I xxxx"... dodgey ground...
sounds to me like you're doing the right thing.. another important thing is that word of mouth is a great form of advertising... your friends today could be hiring you tomorrow.. their good words about you and your work could get passed on to someone that needs some nice playing.. that someone passes you to someone else... doors open... some could well be of great interest to you...
"The problems arise when the producer says things like "can you give me sort of twangy sound with a bit of a jangle?" "... lmao... I've encountered exactly this... almost word for word more than once.... makes me cry to hear someone who is a "pro" producer / song writer / musician use such exquisite and precise terminology...
should they not have asked for an out of phase pick-up position [like a classic Strat tone], compressed, possibly with a tiny tiny hint of overdrive, a little hint of chorus or flanger, shortish reverb and a hint of delay [single repeat, very short delay time - maybe 10 to 50 mS]... play single note lines un-muted, allow some notes to ring over each other like an arpeggio but not following a rigid picking pattern.. if you can use the open 1st and 2nd strings too from time to time that'd be cool.. maybe to make things sound a little cooler [so long as it works with the song] throw in a few SRV's version of Little Wing licks to break things up... unless they want it a little more 'Indy' sounding so you wind up the overdrive just a little further [maybe 15% to 25%] and avoid bluesy lines..
naahhh.... twangey and jangley is suffice.... roflmfao
heavy bands... I know / have stuff by some of those in your list.. thanx though.. I'll look into those I'm not familiar with...
Clarky's ballad of the moment: now this is a smootchy love song.. well it does have love in it .... of sorts...
Machinehead - Violate
beautifully writen, played with passion, nice lyrics..

JS Clone 2, nice one Eric!! Goosebumps and all. Very nice!
Austin, take it easy man. Ignore the bullshit and only put energy into the stuff you have to. Try to eat well too (as well as you can anyway), or at the very least take a good multi-vitamin. Cat naps are good, though not in class. lol! Chin up and all that...

Crap. Yesterday I was hanging out with my girlfriend and arrived home at 9:00 p.m. and a friend told me that in the Film & Arts channel (México) there was a special show with Satch, Vai, Rick Wakeman and a lot of other real artists! I think he told me that it was called "Legendary Guitar PLayers" and I missed it. I was so pissed! I hope they repeat it.

Clarky - the thing that gets me is all the studio effects have the same name as effects us guitar players use. You'd think they'd know what chorus, flanger, overdrive, and compression is. It seems they don't use that terminology in case we get confused... lol... I just went for a tiny touch of dirt, so the notes have a little extra bite and attack, on the back pickup (coil-tapped), with a bit of reverb and shallow chorus. They seemed to be happy with that...

klara: Goncalo ROCKS!!....
Good to see ya around JS Clone 2 Eric!!.... Good luck with your studies....
Hang in there Austin, whenever I'm in a tough situation like that I just think about what it would be like to be the President and all his amazing responsibilities.... Then I smile and it kinda gives me that extra boost I need to make it through the day by day grind.... You know, the old my problems pale in comparison to.... ;-)
Clarky: LMAO at the scientific 'beer goggles' study!!.... Money well spent on a mysterous subject, lol.... Amazing when the
chick that looked like a bulldog chewing a wasp could end up looking like Brittany Spears after a few Grolsh down the hatch, lmao.... On twangey and jangley.... I would have told the producer, I got something twangey and jangley right here mofo, (with my finger pointed down south to Mr. Jimmy, hehe........ BTW, I was gonna ask you if you had an Acoustic.... I think you said you did, and why dont you have some fun on it while your letting the tinitis wear off bro....
Jimmy Kane: As Homer would say.... DOH!! on the joke, lol....
TASTEY: How much to shovel out your driveway, lol, I used to make big bucks as a kid during those Northeaster's in MA.!!

dragonchild Thanks. Going with your lawyer joke. I remember in court one time the prosecutor in a housebreaking case saying "Isn't it true that you went around the back and entered Mrs X's back passage". The court was laughing like crazy. I felt so bad for the guy (Simon - a friend of mine).
ovation1 Yea some good stuff there. On Flymans, Wattage - link on the site, plays everything else. Washburn - Roy is never happy - strips all his guitars to the bone and builds them himself. I'm not sure but I suspect there isn't much left of the washburn. As for the tour - yea - need to update the site I guess. Its been so hard having people living in different continents. It just takes too long to get things together. Several of the others are touring all the time anyway with other bands. I am joining a wee crap band here in Atlanta and hopefully will get Roy and Graeme to move here next year. We'll see. The celtic SBM thing isn't dead, just on a slow burner for now - we'll see. I'll try and get Roy to post. If I tell him people here liked his stuff, I'm sure he'll chime in. Oh and Japan - I told you once before that my girlfriend (Sato) is Japanese - I would love to visit Japan. Hopefully in the summer of 2004 I'll get across to Kochi to meet her parents.

Fablawyer of SBM: That would be great if Roy and Graeme moved to the U.S. lol, I know what you mean about the travel.... Keep the celtic SBM alive bro, and tell Sato-san haijimemashite (nice to meet you) :-).... I live in the southern most Prefecture of Japan in Okinawa, and it's about a 2 hr. flight up to "mainland" Japan, lol, let me know if you ever get a chance to visit, and keep the music going, even if it's with a wee crap band in Atlanta, lol....
TASTEY: Lucky you have a kabota, lol, if you want something

At 9pm last night there was a radio show ' Masters of Rock' & Joe & Steve were featured ( thank God !). They aired interviews with them both , short, & done ages ago I think. Steve said he thinks he discovered the guitar before his penis.........LOL. You can listen again.........bbc.co.uk/radio2
& click Masters of Rock on the right hand side. It lasted an hour & they were on after about 45/49 minutes. I loved Eddie Van Halen near the beginning!
