I hate walking home from lectures in the rain. But, I knew I had a couple of cans of Grolsch in the fridge that were very cold by now, so that got me through it. I'm okay. lol

Delfino - Dude, you crack me up. Not sure I deserve the accolade of 'T2J great' though. Hmmm...

Clarky - I bought myself some cans for my slowly-but-surely-growing home studio (which right now consists only of a PC, Logic Audio Platinum 5.10, minimal plug-ins, a J-Station and some cans... lol). They actually have a pretty nifty frequency repsonse, particularly for a random pair from Dixons: 8 Hz - 27 kHz. Trouble is, they're really quiet with their 40 ohm impedence! They do sound nice though, especially for twenty squid... Although I'm not totally sure why I just told you all that... Anyway - I have a question! When you were talking about panning/EQ, you mentioned panning one guitar left and one right, then dropping them on top of each other. What do you mean by "dropping them on top of each other?" Does it mean you bounce them both onto one track and then run that through the middle, as well as having the hard left/right guitars?

Everyone - Does anyone have any knowledge whatsoever regarding dyslexia? I have a new guitar student who's dyslexic, and as a result it's turning out to be quite a challenge to teach him since he really struggles with reading music/tab, fingerboard diagrams, and interpretting chord charts. I'm a bit stuck as to how to approach it. Obviously, the guy's not stupid. He knows he's dyslexic, and he's really keen to learn, which is nice, but I need some tips. Anything is appreciated.

EDIT: I almost forgot (well I did forget, I guess - hence the edit... lmao) my copy of the T2J CD arrived the other day. I haven't listened to all of it yet, but I've heard the majority. Some very good stuff indeed!!!! Y'all should be proud. Yeehaw.

Zinc Master- re. Star Wars- the only one who has been able to reprise their role is I suppose Anthony Daniels AKA C3-PO, as I suppose his costume is pretty much the same! Oh and probably R2-D2, I'm not sure!

Do you think George Lucas ever thinks of anything other than Star Wars? I doubt it somehow, mind you if I had his cash I probably wouldn't either!

Delfino -

There is a great version available on DVD of Much Ado About Nothing directed by Kenneth Branagh which you have probably already seen, but if not... it has a strange collection of stars in it including Denzel Washington, Emma Thompson, Michael Keaton, Ben Elton, Keanu Reeves and quite a few more.

I love that story!

Neil- I teach Special Needs pupils, although I can't say I've ever taught any of them to play the guitar. One of my husband's pupils was dyslexic, and could never quite get to grips with learning the scale names. He could play them all, but couldn't associate them with the names- when it came to exams, he had to photocopy his dyslexic diagnosis and send it, they took this into account so it was all ok.

I will get back to you with any links etc I can find, for now I found this article, not much use, but maybe. You could also try contacting the British Dyslexia Association, I am sure they would be able to advise you more.

Neil- Here's another discussion link:

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&q=dyslexia+%2B+guitar&btnG=Search&meta=cr%3DcountryUK%7CcountryGB

I think the piano is probably easier for a dyslexic pupil to relate to, as the notes are all there in a line in front of you? The more visual the better I suppose, colour coding etc, memory prompts- the tablature must look like a maze to dyslexics. It's not impossible though, most dyslexics can learn to read to some extent, unless it is very severe.

There are some good books available out there- good luck with it.

I think George Lucas sleeps, eats, and lives Star Wars, at least the last few years - with updating the original trilology, working on the prequels, ect - a lot of Star Wars has been happening for the past 8-10 years.

Sure - with his cash, might as milk us good and think up new ways to get our cash into his pocket - not that it is wrong - I would do the same, possibly.

Zinc Master- yep, I agree!

One thing I was pleasantly surprised about re. the Trilogy DVD was that each case was separate- I thought it would just be one of those multi-fold out ones.

No doubt each one will have a 2-disc special edition in the near future too!

It is great though.

What's the webmaster's email here?

Hey Joe....your invited to the wedding, October 16th! Oceanside, CA! We would love to see ya! ahahahaha

Anyone,

Do I have to ask permission if I want to copy a picture of Joe here on the website and transfer it to my wedding web page bio? Of course I would make sure to credit the photographer and the website! I want a killer picture of Joe to go with the list of music of Joe's that we are playing for the processional and such! anyone have some good pics to recommend from the website. There are pics of me and my daughter here on the website, but I thought that I'd use those too but I want a really GOOD one of Joe, you know, mouth open, jammin'! hahahaha! Let me know. You can email me at msbubbles88@hotmail.com. Thanks!

Hey, since I'm on the whole wedding thing right now, anyone out there....former brides and grooms that used Joe's music in their wedding? I researched the whole idea of having a guitarist play live for us, but it didn't turn out. Sooooo, we'll be having the video to AWMAWY playing as I walk down the aisle! I got a lot of shit for this from family because they thought everyone should be looking at me instead of Joe up on the huge screen, but I said, screw it....I WANT people to see Joe and experience him! I figure this is the closest we can get to him physically being there and playing for us.

I was wondering about music as people are being seated? Any ideas from the long list of Joe? ha! I have some ideas, but thought I'd throw it out to the greatest music community out there! I want people to boogie....not sit there and fall asleep. Also, what would be the best Joe song to sort of intertwine with The Ramones Blitzkrieg Bop?

Thanks!

Zinc Master - Yeah, I know Episodes I, II, and III happened before the others...so the main IV, V, and VI actors can't appear in those movies. I was really just talking about VII, VIII, and IX, though... Harrison Ford is already over 60...and if they started working right now, it'd be about ten years before the third movie was released...so he'd be nearly 70 during the filming. That would just look too weird...Han Solo isn't that old. ;-)

Oh well.

Master Yoda - I just thought of this in the time it took me to read your post, so I don't know if it'll work...but...

Maybe you could use a different color pen / pencil for each guitar string for the notes for tab or chord charts, or maybe a different color for each finger that he should use...? I'm not sure if that would help at all, but does it at least make sense?

bubbles - You can reach the webmaster at webmaster@satriani.com.

You can probably reuse a picture that's on the site here if you get permission from the original photographer.

Do The Stu :-O I missed you off my list of great T2J'ers....how could I?! sorry man...

Brother Al Nah I haven't done the lizard yet, I think I'll most likely be doing it over the weekend.

The laquer stuff I use is one made by "Halfords"...seems to just a really generic "Clear Coat Laquer" kind of thing.
Hope that helps man.

They come out "weak" "thin" As I said, I am using Your technique of EQing, I also found that same tech. in My "begginer's guide to home recording tutorial" EQ is best used sparingly, Or You acheive this very harsh mix!...And I found it to be true! I have 4 band paremetric EQ to, So I will experiment with some of the freq.
