mick87, nice club to be in, eh ;-) I found that shirt at www.wickedjester.com, but I don't see it there anymore. I'll wear that shirt today in solidarity with all my other powerless and motivationless brothers and sisters. POWER TO THE PEOPLE! lmao!!

Tastey, positive energy is always good.

Paul, c'mon now. If you want to be completely safe, put on a cd of dolphin sounds and wrap yourself in bubble wrap. LOL! No need to throw the cd!! lol!! I know there are a few cd's I shouldn't listen to while driving. Metallica's Master of Puppets (to much thrashing around), Joe's self titled (I pay tooo much attention to the music), anything with Rob Zombie - lol! "The power of the blaster movin' faster, 1965 yeah!" which is exactly what my foot does to the gas pedal. ZOOOOM! I even have my car seat waaaay back in my car so that I can't push the pedal harder unless I *think* about pushing the pedal harder. If I have my seat closer to the pedal, I seem to push harder on the pedal as the music gets wilder without realizing it. lol! Sometimes I use the break pedal for the bass kicker if I'm coming to a stop. lol! Even my 6' tall husband has to move the seat closer when he drives my car. lol! Now you know why some things are better left OUT of the car. lmao! Safety first :)

mowlie, glad to see another washboard player! lmao! Ya can never have to many :)

Hello,

I am living in France and I would like to know if you plan to invite a guitarist from the country where you will play in the european G3 tour (well, i hope there will be one !). I have really appreciated that you invite guitarits from others countries. The last G3 tour i saw in France was with Patrick Rondat. It was really interesting. So, I would really want you to play with a french guitarist (in my opinion (of course...), the best french (metal) guitarist up to now) : Christophe Godin. His website It is a kind of dream I have...

I also would like to know if you ever played songs like "driving at night" or "why" in a concert. I really like these ones. "Why" is certainly my favorite one from all the songs you composed.

Finally, You played in 1989 in Paris with a french guitarist : Alain Aime. I would like to know if there is any records from this concert.

Thank you, for the pleasure I have when I listen to your music.

Austin- I think the technical definition of 'a lot bit drunk' stems from the saying "a little bit" but then in the middle of blurting it out you change your mind and decide to tell the truth... you know i am a lot bit drunk... this can also be used when you find out the next morning that your kitchen was volunteered up for sloppy joe making headquarters and the only evidence you have of this is the terrific mess all over the place! lol...

Off to buy books for the next semester... hope they dont break the bank... my guess 4 classes about $380... yuck...

Hope all in Satchland have a good friday!

Hello amigos: a couple of months ago I posted this:I was listening to Vai's touching tongues, and on minute 1:57 -1:58 of the song, there's a weird sound that sounds like a dog barking. Does anybody know what sound is that?

Today, while working I was listening to For the love of god and in minute 4:40 - 4:41 somebody says "Yes". Maybe Vai got too excited. It was funny to discover that.

I'm beginning to wonder if there's something like this hidden in every song. LOL!

StringG --- Talent definitely runs in the Satriani family. His sister Carol is an amazing artist. Did you know she has her own website? For a look at her work, click here. http://www.carolsatriani.com. Her oil paintings are beautiful. A little side note...the family resemblance is uncanny! :)

Whoever it was on here that said that Rosanne Barr was the worst singer was on the money...LMAO!! :) But I actually heard someone worse than her once. Me and my friend Joe (Gannman), back in 1994, used to go out to this place on Thursday nights that featured kareoke. This dude got up to sing "A Horse With No Name"...and subsequentally fell out of the saddle. Then later, he trashed the Hotel California! The DJ actually interrupted the man in the middle of one of his songs and asked him what he did with the money. LMAO!!! :) When a kareoke DJ asks you that, you suck. Bad! So bad that you should just crawl under the carpet and disappear. :)

My personal vote for the worst singer has got to be...One With The Computer! This guy can't sing worth a popcorn fart. He sounds like a screaming pig stuck in a mailbox, and he knows it. Which is part of the reason why he spares us the agony of bearing witness to his voice, and prefers to write all instrumentals instead. :) There is no worse crime than listening to someone try to play a musical instrument that they have no natural proficiency at whatsoever...and voice is NOT my instrument!

Haven't been here in a while, been bogged down with computer problems which hopefully are now a bad memory. How's everybody been? Me...COLD! Goddamned, it's COLD on this side of the land of the free...and in my room! You could hang slabs of raw beef on the front porch. And I sleep in the only room in the house that doesn't get enough heat...I feel like a stiff at the morgue when I get up.

See ya'z...

hey yall. on sunday my parents told me they were going to homeschool me and my last day was wednesday. it hit me pretty hard b/c i don't get to see my friends everyday.....i feel awful! i of course cried many times even in class, which made my teacher (who lives next door) come over and tried to make me feel better. on my last day my friend jesse surprised me w/ a cake and a huge card signed by everyone at lunch time. i cried and so did one of my friends. when i was told i was gonna be homeschooled, my best friend alexis was in the car and later on, one of our mutual friends told me she was on the phone w/ alexis after that happened and she said she was crying really hard-the only time i've ever sortof heard about her crying lol. i of course bribed my parents and i got a game cube w/ the game conflict desert storm lol. i get a new wardrobe(not as extreme as you're probably thinking). it's so lonely being at home ALL day long--i need social activity EVERYDAY. my mom told me that "homeschooling's gonna be different. you're going to do your share of chores." it was all because of "bad influences" and now i don't get to laugh like i usually do. i'll miss josh who always made me crack up in math. this is what he said: " it was quiet, seriously....i HAD 2 pay attention b/c i had no1 2 talk 2 and not pay attention". lol i'll miss everyone so much.......ok thanks for listening to yall that did....

Yoda - got a call from Ube.. he can't make the gig... this means that my disaster recovery plan is not assured.. so faced with an almost certainty of getting confused enough to either end up spending the night on platform 1 at Paddington station... or waking up in Belgium.. I'll pass on the DT gig... no worries tho... Vai is the gig I'll not miss... I already have a ticket for the Holland gig and I'll try to see him in London too...
ovation - I've not touched the Raft yet.. I'm listening to the demo for a few days first... mostly to look out for the bits that kick and the bits that need to be kicked out..lol.. It'll most likely end up largely the same as the demo but the lil' free-style moments will get some exploration before they're commited to tape.. haha.. naming the garden.. how about "The Garden of Fecundity"... after a Sea on the Moon... kinda a fitting name and the Lab lives in the garden...
Greg - dont hang yer head... do something about it... so you may not have the greatest hearing on earth [I deffinately dont].. but hearing a pitch and finding it on the neck is less about the quality of your hearing and more about the quality of your perception... [so dont give yourself an excuse to lean on... like "nah.. dont really feel like going down the gym today 'cos... err.. 'cos my... err .. oh yeah.. I'm too busy..."]
like anything else.. the more of this you do the easier it gets... and it'll improve your powers of creativity.. because you'll get an idea in your head.. and it'll not be huge amounts of effort to go find it on the neck....
and as usual.. ny "little by little" approach is the way... don't blow yourself appart doing hours upon hours.. that's not fun .. start small.. so like you've said.. starting with a few major themes here and there is good.. then deepen the scope.. but dont do this at the expense of playing and enjoying your time on the guitar...
mikesb - "some other way of tracking the sound"... interesting.. if they could imagine the possiblities.. that may well open the door to exploring other materials to make stings out of.... completely new tonal characteristics.. maybe a means of capturing the strings based upon the vibrations in the body.. so the pickup is not listening to the string at all.. but listening to the body.. this means that the material that the body is made of would be even more critical than it was in the days before serous fx kit was used.. but I guess that something detecting vibration could well be suseptable to being microphonic... dunno really... interesting stuff though...
I guess it's only a matter of time before the output of the guitar is dgital... better signal to noise ratio etc etc... dunno wit that either... I bet there is some very screwy shit knocking around in the guitar manufacturers research labs though...

Sorry, I know I just posted, but I have to comment on what Mikesb just said...

Mikesb --- What you're talking about is making the body of the guitar itself into one huge condenser microphone. While this is a quite interesting concept, I don't know if it would work, because you've got to consider that when the person plays it, it touches his body, and depending on the person playing, that alone could mute the vibrations and have an adverse effect on the sound. Therefore, who's playing it ends up being just as important as the material the body is made out of. I don't think that's going to go over too good with a lot of guitar players, as they can't change their epidemal layer. :) BUT...

The digital thing, now that's an idea! Build completely digital guitars and amps, with digital INs and OUTs and built in A/D converters. When the string is struck, the vibrations are felt by the pickup and transformed into electrical pulses, but instead of sending those pulses out in the wire, the built-in A/D converter transforms them into 1s and 0s and sends them from the digital out to the amp's digital in, where the amp's built-in A/D converter wroks much like the one in your CD player. Since everything is totally digital, it could have it's own built-in pre-amp and effects that affect the digital information it receives directly. It would result in a much cleaner sound with a practically nonexistent noise floor. Wnat to record? No problem. Just send those ones and zeroes from the amplifier's digital out directly to a sound file on the computer and BAM! Track 1 is complete...

Of course, there are drawback to this, too. Guitarists strive for a warm tone...and digital by it's very nature does NOT like to create a nice, warm tone! And I'm sure the price tag on something like that would be ungodly...

Of course, I'm no guitarist...if it sounds like I have no idea what I'm talking about then I digress. :) But this could also be applied to a number of different instruments, especially keyboards. Some keys already come with digital outs for recording purposes. i think the next step may be to build the A/D converters right into the amps themselves...

michelle - the 'hoop' is the alternative to the one that makes babies.... eeeeeeuuuuuuuwwwww.. lmao...

r6r - I really like the contrasting tones with Coverdale and Hughes.. Coverdale being full bodied and powerful whereas Hughes was quite shrill but with very funky lines - in fact his approach is not a million miles from Stevie Wonder's.. I think that this contrast really worked.. especially when you consider that if someone else in a band can sing .. the 'usual' is to sit a 3rd over the main vocals during the chorus... yawn... been there done that.. but getting these guys to fire off of each other was really cool...
962 - lmao... "the angry end"... still lmao... lol..lol..

Vai.. the Heineken place.. what the exact date is I don't know cos my mate has the tickets...

michelle - removing the rear view mirrors is in fact mandatory when driving in Italy.. what's behaind you is just not important... cos you've passed it... it's the guy in front that counts...
tastey - kinda... I once wished really hard that I'd meet a gorgeous blondie with a tight little twat down the local pub.. the blondie showed up with a midget that refused to buy a round of beers all night...
juju - when you are "a lot bit drunk"... the term "a lot bit drunk" makes complete sense and is in fact perfect grammar given the situation... although I'm not talking from experience.. it's just that I think I heard it somewhere by someone.. no lie..

...Pearly is still stolen...my throat is slowly recovering...but I'm still mad at the stunt the Tabernacle and Winston pulled on us in Atlanta, not allowing the under 21 fans in so they could give out free ciggies in the lobby, that sucked! ...I found out about it on the ride over to the show about 30 minutes before my performance. I insisted on meeting the fans that were segregated to try and explain what I could and offer picks and autographs and photos. When I left the stage at the end of the show I went straight back to them to say thanks and sorry again. I can assure you we will never let Winston or any other tobacco company pull that one on us again...Joe

mick97, thanks for the link mate. I'm eager to try it too, what a beauty the AT300 is! I can't wait. I wonder what the pickups are, and I wonder how much it'll cost.

Flagg, fair comment. If you can't find it anywhere and you have bought everything else of Joe's then I guess downloading is acceptable!
IceZer, the RGT42 is metallic copper in colour - looks like a California Redwood, or the inside of a pine tree, or even mahogany, only it's metallic. I'm selling it for £450 if I can because it is with a fitted Ibanez RG hardcase, and it has a DiMarzio PAF Pro and Fred installed, oh and a sexy little Allen-wrench holder on the back of the headstock! hehe. It's about 5 months old.

about it's sound - I actually find it's sustain pretty good. The standard pickups that were in it are not too cool, and that actually dragged the sound down. The DiMarzio's make it sound much better. even if they're not my preferred kind of tone, they still sound good (as you know!).

nice website!

Roland2112, I heard a bit of that Satch/Deep Purple gig on cassette, but that was a copy too. I'm ok with downloading stuff that hasn't been commercially released, like Vai's Carvin Legacy Demo for example.
Matt Martinez, I thought EP stood for Electronic Promotion! hehe....haven't a clue mate!
UF Dean, you're welcome. and regards "The Boy From Seattle", I kind of know what you mean. There's some similarity, but that goes when he puts the delay on, and he doesn't seem to use any Pentatonic/blues scales so the lead lines sound different.
Ovation1, do you know where the Guitar Wars DVD is going to be sold? and am I right in thinking Nuno is on there?
I ordered a Bill Lawrence L500xl earlier, a bridge pickup the same as in Nuno's Washburn N4. I can't wait to see how it turns out. I'll start off with it in my GIO and see what happens!
PhryDom, yeah my dad used spray cans to do a 4-colour sunburst on an electro-acoustic he restored. it looks dead professional, but it's very hard to get it right. My comment was based on the fact that painting a guitar successfully and evenly with an aerosol can is very very difficult and takes some practice. It's easier to use a spray-gun with liquid paint. You can use modelling-paint, like the humbrol stuff you see in art and hobby shops. that will work fine.
Clarky, hehe, glad I can make ya laugh mate! Yeah I don't know the exact date I'm going cause my sister's mate in Heineken-land has the tickets! hehe. When I find out I'll make a sort-of-public announcement!

leanna: No disrespect intended, but those same "bad influences" will be there when you've grown up and moved out. How're ya' gonna' deal with them then? You won't have the proper experience to deal with it. We parents want to keep our children from all the harmful elements, and sometimes we take things a bit too far. They have to learn how to live, we shouldn't keep this from happening. Those elements will always be there, better to learn how to deal with it as a teenager, rather than as an adult.

Just my two cents ...

Does anyone think that Joe should sing again? Flying is perhaps my favorite of all his albums. Except for one track on Time Machine and one on Joe Satriani he hasent sang since. I personally enjoy his mellow delivery and his optomistic lyrical view. I wouldnt want vocals on every album for the rest of his career or anything, just another album with a few tracks. Just my opinion.
