"I don't like it when I'm in an audience and the emcee tells us to give someone a welcome specific to that city: "Let's all get together and give this little lady a nice Toledo welcome." I've often thought if I were from Toledo it would be fun now and then to give someone a Baltimore welcome, just to break the emcee's balls. Or maybe slip into an exotic Budapest welcome when no one is expecting it. One thing I would never do is give someone a Dallas welcome. That's what JFK got. Dallas welcomes don't last to long."
To steal a line from Seinfeld - This is the summer of George! lol!
DCK, glad to hear your nephew is getting better.
Bil, "eat, drink, and be Mary." That one always cracks me up!
Yayo, Nick Menza...now there's a fine specimen. Hello! Oh, and he drums well too! lol!
Templar, I'm hangin' in there. Thanks for asking :) How you doin'?
I just read this one from good ol' George and I can't stop laughing - " I think there ought to be a feminine hygiene spray called "Sprunt."
And with that, I shall skip away ~~~

Olly, yeah the pentatonic thing is probably going to work best, but the five-beat timing you're talking about isn't easy.
I tried it just now actually - I'm listening to a Mourning Widows track with a strong 4-4 beat, and tried tapping one finger after the other, on one hand, in sequence. it's a good way to work it out in your head, and start with something fairly slow.
No, i'm currently not in a band locally, but I just started at salisbury college so hopefully I'll sort something there. What about you? are you a band-member or a lone guitarist?
laters,
Simon
So, are you guys suggesting that the world-wide-web part of F*ck Yourself was an after-thought? it's an interesting one. when did the web revolution happen? early 90's? when did WWW become possible?

Guitarded Boy- What you need to do to get the guitar to stay in tune is to back off the fine tuners on the bridge to the middle. Then you need to undo the locks at the top of the neck, tune to pitch all the strings ( I usually tune my strings a little flat cause when you lock them in they go sharp) then lock them. Then use the fine tuners on the bridge to tune to pitch and you're done. I usually spend 5 minutes tuning mine. I use a BOSS TU-12H tuner to tune and I use 12th Fret harmonics cause if you just pluck the strin, you get all the harmonics of the string.
Thanks Bahumit 12 :)

Why is the G3 tour not coming to the UK? I'm getting a bit dissillusioned Joe.. first, the SBM tour completely misses out Scotland (boo!), and now the G3 tour isnt even coming to Europe! Whats going on?! are you trying to alienate your Scottish fans? Double boo! I love you Joe, but you've gotta think about Scots fans.. were not all English ya know! I realise its hard to please everyone, but c'mon- 2 tours and nowhere near Scotland! To come to the SBM tour wouldve cost me over £200 and thats not even a hotel for the night!
Please try and do at least ONE gig in Scotland! Please, please, please, please please :)
Anyways.. I feel a bit better after that. Still love ya Joe- you're the greatest.

I have a cd of Joe "live in Paris" that isn't featured on the "Discography" section. I was wondering why it wasn't there. Also, on the "Satch tapes", Joe talks about a recording he made before "Not of this earth" that he coudn't sell and couldn't give away at the time. I wish he would make that available to us hardcore fans!!

962 - The World Wide Web came into existence around 1990.
Trumdrumbalind - The "Live In Paris" thing is a bootleg.
4 of the 5 songs that appreared on Joe's first EP recording were later reissued as part of the Time Machine album. The 5th song, Talk To Me, was actually the first on the EP, but it couldn't be included on Time Machine because there were problems with the master tapes.
anibur - Ah, the circle of life. ;-)

Joe: My 12 year old son studies your music. He's played for about a year and a half and I've been told he is well beyond his years in talent. He is very serious about music being a big part of his his life. We live about 3 hours outside of Nashville but I purchased tickets to your show because I know this will be a once in a lifetime opportunity for him to see his 3 favorite's together. Thank you for being such a positive influence in a 12 year old's life. We're really looking forward to your show - Tyler's Mom!

I think this must be the second pre teen I have ever heard of liking Joe (the first being Leanna (yes, Leanna, I know you're a teenager now, so don't flame me, please.))
Some people are so lucky in getting into Joe early.

ovation1, yah... I'm pretty sure I was around for the "original release" of the lyrics... though I didn't post much, I was on for a while before the new board.
edit: checked out that chops from hell thing... only one bass guy if I'm not mistaken, and NOTHING on tapping?
hmmmm... the window of opportunity. perhaps,

Hi Joe I just wanted to say thank you very much for all the wonderful music you have created. I know you hear that a lot but I mean it from the bottom of my heart. You Vai and all the great other have given me so much in life. I moved to America when I was 12 from Italy and where I came from was a poor town and I was never exposed to music but when we came to America all that changed. I'm 18 now and I've been listening to your music for 2 years. I've learned every note from many of your albums, and now b/c of that I'm going on tour with many bands and I'm making something with my life. I want to thank you Joe Satriani, you've given me a chance to make something of myself. Please e-mail whenever you get a chance (leporeant27@yahoo.com) so I know you've read my comment. Thank you very much!
P.S.
I can't wait to see the G3 this year I'm seeing you guys on Oct 31 and Nov 11 rock on!

How the flip can you have a chops site with nothing on tapping?
Graham, do you own an upright bass, then? This is the same thing as a chapman stick, right? Do you play the double bass at all (violin family, I mean.)?

Do The Stu: I have listened to Engines with headphones, wow what an audio experience that can be!!
With all the talk of " Secret Prayer" around here, I had to pull out Crystal Planet and give it a spin. It's been a while, and I must say that album hit the spot!
