Man, isn't horrible how Jason Beckerhad his incredible talents robbed from him at such a young age. The guitar world had a tremendous loss. I wonder how it would have been if Randy Rhoads lived. Hopefully God will some day reach down and touch Jason and he will be free again......

Hey Shogun Vai, what types of planes do you work on? I've been lucky enough to sit in the cockpit of a Tomcat and go inside a B-17 and a B-24.

Add my voice to the list of people that'd like to see Reel Satriani on DVD.

Hey Joe, do you have any hobbies outside of music and snowboarding? Any favorite authors/movies?

Aaren Mowlie: Good to see you man! Damn, you must be keeping yourself busy lately...any new music I can listen to? All your stuff from a few months ago was pretty damn good...waiting on some more!
Austin: ahhh how I miss the dorms...used to be my favorite thing to do...just sit by the pool and have a nice rum n coke (hidden in a covered cup of course) in the middle of a hot day.
Prez: realistically, it all depends on how many and which classes you choose to take each semester. If I wasn't so lazy, I'd have plenty of free time to play, but I tend to sleep instead. Then again I DO have a BAD case of senioritis.
Congrats to ToneCapone!
Good luck to DCK and hope Juju's feeling better!

SO many posts to keep up with. The Mac computer thing. Jon, I would love to get a Mac. We are starting up a recording studio and we are working on getting a Pro Tools system. That itself is a lot of money, then you add in the PRICE of a Mac Computer..... $3000 is it? One thing at a time!

Ok guys.....I am selling my guitar. Just want to see how much I can fetch for it and try to buy a nice new guitar. Also, I am sick of the floyd rose and cannot really tolerate the hassle that comes with it. My options are :

Les Paul standard double cut
JS Candy Apple (debating with the JS1000)
Ibanez SZ
Gibson SG standard
Fender Strat

You probably may have realised that I am not sure what to get. I have listed these guitars in order of preference. The styles of music that I play mainly are Metal lead, Metal Rhythm & smooth jazz/electric blues.

I would like to achieve a clean tone similar to Eric Johnson (Trademark, Manhattan & similar) & Satch (Down Down Down, Love thing, & similar). A lead tone similar to Starry Night, A train of angels, Lights of Heaven, Motorcycle Driver, War....you know what I'm talking about. Metal lead tone similar to Jon Donais (Shadows Fall), Mike Akarfeldt (Opeth), Hammett, Marty Friedman (Megadeth).

I also use a Boss GT-6, DD-5 and a Fender Deluxe amp.

As you can see "guitar players are always chasing tones" and thats what I am doing. I look up to you all so please guide me with this process. There are tonnes of smart people here who probably know what they are talking about. My price range is not anywhere above USD 1400. Thanks!

Jon really faded the JS in the background. Now we can only see the hazy purple abstract art in the background. Maybe Joe should ask Jon to put in some more abstract art in the background. Actually, we should!

Part I

Well, I did it again. I just wrote the post to end all posts. Extreme case of babbling gone awry. Spent two and a half hours catching up and typing away like a fool. And then, I lost it all. Gone. No back button action to save me. When will I learn? OK, let's see if I can remember even a tenth of what I wrote.

michelle: My lil buddy seems to be doing fine, but he still isn't talking to me. Have yet to road test him yet lol. Fingers crossed on getting the signed booklet to you.

Clarky: Cool man, no hurry, like I said before. I look forward to your comments.

PhryDom: So, if I say, "Hey dude!" You won't know that I'm talking to you? Well, why the hell not? lol

Shogun Vai: I've got the kisses covered for her. Believe me, I know exactly how lucky I am to have her. For example: I can't stand for any real amount of time, so showers are out. But my wonderful woman is kind enough to put me in the tub and bath me. Yeah, I have it made. I'm not sure if I want to get better. When I do, I just might fake it for a lil while lol.

death cube K: The last time I was in for my wisdom teeth I had a moment of sheer brilliance. It was about five years ago. The oral surgeon had this really hot blonde working as an assistant. Well, they put me under for the surgery and when I started to wake up I was horrified to find that some old woman was taking care of me and not her! So I, being the pinnacle of smoothness and tact, proclaimed very loudly that I wanted "the hot chick" to be working on me! I don't remember any of this myself, my mom told me later. Anyway, I had to go back to get the stitches removed. I walk in and there's the hot chick. She says, "I'll be taking your stitches out today. I assume you approve?" I felt about as smart as a can of corn. I tried to joke about it and ask her out, but she wouldn't have it. Oh well.

Joeman9: Sure man, send me an email anytime. trutina@aol.com

mowlie2000: Thanks man, and as far as the project, I think the best way to help is to stir some excitement about this thing again. There's a ton of people here who don't know anything about The Talk 2 Joe CD Project.

Part II

Austin: Feel free to quiz away on those one thousand posts. I'm ready. I have an excellent memory. And an even better ability to look stuff up and cheat lol.

Artanis I: I couldn't agree with you more about the Crush of Love. I cringe on the LISF menu. My fingers can't work the remote fast enough.

TASTEY: The LS650 is a great starter bike, trust me. Very thin and easy to maneuver, low seat height, cool chopper look, dependable and easy to work on. They haven't really changed them other than the rear fender since 88 so if that tells you anything. Good luck and take care of yourself out there. Remember, cars don't see us. Always assume that you are invisible to everyone at all times when you are riding. Even when you are right in front of them.

VFRrocker: Yeah, that's what they call them over here. The name goes back to the early eighties when Honda brought over the first true, full fairing sport bike. The VF750F. I'd like to have one of those for collector's sake. Pretty cool for it's time. Worst carbs to work on ever. Well not really that year. I rebuilt carbs on a 1987 California model VFR700F. California emissions suck and the funny thing is they don't even do anything. Oh well, it makes em feel better I suppose. Anyway, working on V4 carbs suck, Cali model or not. I'm not certain, but I believe it's like the fifth ring of hell.

As far as my thoughts on the votes, I have a few complaints. I like Satch Boogie and all, but dammit, Midnight kicks ass. Champagne? is a big loss too. For those of you that voted against Hordes of Locusts, I wish for The Electric Slide to get stuck in your head for a week. The Eight Steps over Banana Mango? If you are the same people previously mentioned, add three more weeks. Motorcycle Driver over New Blues? What the hell are you people smoking? Another month. If you voted against Summer Song but also voted against Hordes of Locusts, Banana Mango and New Blues, subtract 9 days from your Electric Slide punishment

Well, that's about all I can remember from what I wrote. I guess it's still too much, but I forgot a lot of stuff. Sorry to the people I missed. Would do it again but I'm getting in trouble for being up so late. She says I need to rest. I say I've slept for a week and therefore well rested. She doesn't agree. I'm gonna let her win. I like the baths lol. She says Hi by the way. I'm gonna say goodnight everyone. Take care.

eta - Aural perception = melodic dictation, interval recognition, chord recognition, etc. When you say "easy", you may be forgetting that this I'm doing a degree - we're not talking about sight reading simple four bar phrases in C major here; more like Pat Metheny and Mike Stern stuff. And in aural, along with evrything else the examiner will face the other way and play a chord. I have to play back said chord in an identical voicing, after hearing the chord once. Not easy. Not at all.

ToneCapone - congrats dude on the good news! Catch you soon on MSN, any news on the guitar ports?

Matt King Good to see you back! I'll give your tune an listen later, can you or anyone give me the link to it?

Went for a guitar lesson last night and quite impressed with the teacher, he seems to want to teach to allow people to learn music, not just make a quick bit of cash by writing some licks! Very cool so far, looking forward to next lesson!

Hope everyone else is cool!
