howdy everyone! it's been a very busy last few weeks and i'm happy to announce the listening party and the rehearsal video is now online! a new newsletter is on its way out with info and you can click on the link from the home page to check it all out.

TheBob - there will be more "evening with" dates coming as the months pass, and portland tends to be a very joe-friendly city so i'd think odds are good you'll be able to see him.

culox - maybe i already fixed it and forgot, but i don't see any entries for ontario in the US. email me if you see otherwise.

Do The Stu - i was able to see the timmons video, so i'm assuming joe was as well. thanks!

jelly man - that's a good idea about formatting the show reviews. i'll stick it on the back burner, but if a lot of people speak up it'll move it higher in the priority list :}

Delfino, I mean God....Billy Sheehan, OF COURSE! how could you forget?! hehe. Looks like Top Ten bass shredders is gonna be a bit of a lonely list then

Let me suggest a couple more -

1) John Patitucci - I saw him play with Chick Corea's Elektric Band many years ago and he was using all four fingers on his right hand to pick superfast - I couldn't believe my eyes. I was sure there was smoke coming from the strings! Love his slower stuff too - One More Fallen Angel is one of my all time favourite jazz albums, pure emotion from start to finish.

2) Bootsy - OK he don't shred in the conventinal sense but I guess you don't need speed when you can make one note sound so funky..... If I were elected prime minister I would make it a criminal offence not to listen to The Mothership Connection at least once a day ;o) Plus, his space bass is the coolest thing ever to come out of a luthier's workshop.

Stace - I been thinking... today is my 15th wedding anniversary...
if I'd have killed her on my wedding day.. I'd be coming out of jail today... lol..

I think that's pretty good reason for a beer tonight... lol..

do the stu - so far The Raft of the Medusa and Requiem are done.. I've started The Chosen One.. the drums and bass guitar are down.. the orchestra will get recorded at the weekend..
mari - I know what it's like getting stoned on music alone... sometimes, when you are shredding over a backing track or with a band you can get into it in a very deep way.. your whole sense of awareness gets completely locked in to the music... it's almost as if the guitar plays itself and I'm just a spectator.. lol.. it's really quite a thing when that happens...

if you decide to learn guitar.. don't forget.. take your time.. don't rush.. don't expect too much at first.. and enjoy it.. and there are a pile of us in here that can answer your questions and offer help... but most of all.. love doing it...

MIkey - I played the The Chosen One backing track.. and with the new drum kit on there it sounds much better already... I'm really looking forward to this one...
Satch - happy birthday bro..

MASTER YODA - I so hear you on the swing. That was, is, one of the hardest transitions FEEL wise. Its that Dotted 1/8 note 1/16 note combo. Winton Marcellis does an incredible job of being able to go back and forth between something that swings and something that is played straight. Other than that the stuff sounds good!!

ARTANIS 1 - Sometimes I can have a sense of humor.

................Happy Birthday Joe................. Hope you have a wonderful day!

Things are going well here in Michigan... Im a bit bummed because I went to buy a couple of cds the other day and forgot that there isnt a music store within 50+ miles from here so I had to pick through a walmart type selection :( Have to wait until I get back to Denver I guess... Other than that having fun hanging out with my grandfather, maybe more fishing today, and hanging out with my "Michigan Friends"...

Hope all is going well for everyone in Satchland...

Another couple of bassists for the lonely list................flea. I've seen the guy do a straight jam by himself, he's fukkin awesome. And Geddy Lee from Rush, true he's not a shredder as such either but he is still good. Top respect to anyone that can sing and play at the same time, especially a bass

Trying to find old tour dates... Hi, does anyone on here have a good number (or complete even!?!) list of tour dates from approx. 1990-1994? Specifically, I'm trying to track down a list of dates Joe did with Bad4Good as opener. I believe they opened for him for a couple of tours in and around 1992-93. If anyone has any info, and can help, please email me at daveallston@rogers.com Thanks!!!!
