Joe, im from the United Arab Emirates. We really need someone like you to turn on the rock scene here. PLease Please come here on tour, you wont be disapointed with the response, evryone here loves your music, especially oriental melody and belly dancer. evryone loves the arabic sound you get with the harmonic minor.

Hey Joe, I was at the G3 show at the Greek Theatre last October. Amazing show! You, Vai and Yngwie really tear it up. After finally finishing listening to the CD and watching the DVD, I started thinking about the next American G3 tour (which I already can't wait for) and wondering when it will be, hopefully 2004 ;-), and who will be playing it. I'm assuming Vai will be doing it again since he's only missed one since the start. Eric Johnson might be a good candidate because this year make 4 years since the last one he did, which was 4 years after the first G3. Yngwie, obviously insanely good, would be rad to have play again. My last nominee is Buckethead. He is much more than the ex-slash-replacement, in fact his solo albums are pure shred. I saw him play at a very small show at Styles Music in La Verne, CA (I was less than 10 ft. away from him :D) and he would definately be an excellent candidate for G3. Keep everything up! I just been told that u cannot determine how good a person is without hearing them play unplugged.
is it me or does that sound totaly out? amp or no amp u still need skill.

Actually Greyfox I sound better with my amp but my case is more of a confidence type thing. If I play loud I love it and play more. If I play feebly and quiet then I get frightened that I sound bad and run over and get "amp'd"

Greyfox88 - It makes perfect sense. Amps and effects (distortion, reverb, delay) can easily cover up mistakes. Playing unplugged is playing "naked"...all that's there is you and the guitar. The music that you produce then is good because of how good you are, not because of how good your distortion pedal is.

Greyfox88 - There are electric and acoustic players who aren't very good. That's not the point of the comment.
Guitarists who are truly good guitarists sound great both plugged and unplugged. There are some guitarists who sound good plugged in, but once they play unplugged you realize they have problems (their timing sucks, their fingerings are sloppy, etc.).
Does that make sense?

It's all just you and 6 strings...if you sound bad on acoustic, you won't magically sound good on electric just because of effects. Although some people are better at one than the other because of their touch on the strings, and what type of music you play generally will vary between the two. Personally, I like to play both because I get something different out of them, sound-wise.

yeah , i know what u mean. but still, you still need skill in order to play the notes in a certain tech and order to make it sound good. distortion doesn't totaly rearrange ure notes so it sound really good. u still need skill. and yea they do cover mistakes. but point is, they think i'll be retarded, as in not be able to play ba ba black sheep or the simplist of songs without the amp. if u know what i mean.
they seem to think, without an amp u could have no clue on wat to do on guitar. if u know wadda mean? my friend seems to have no idea weather i'm any good at all on guitar without hearing me unplugged.

the issue isn't necessarily electric vs. acoustic, the issue is whether someone who sounds good with all their gear will still sound good when you take away their noise gates and compressors and stuff like that.
i very much agree with that assessment of guitarists and electric musicians in general. if the musician only sounds good with all their stuff in, they're kinda limited sound wise, eh? and what's the point of listening to someone that always sounds exactly the same in song structure, tone, and ideas?

tee hee... no real offense intended. very talented musician, but i still don't like most of his stuff.

scrawn, ure getting me. if ure shat on electric, don't expect to be good on acoustic. same way. if ure shat on acousitc don't expect to be good on electric coz of effects. that what i'm saying. fx don't make u totaly skillfully amazing. just a new tone for ure guitar. and it really covers up tiny mistakes like dead notes etc.

stu clone. absoulty what i'm trying to say. but kinda.. not on about the tone of guitar but the skills u have. i reckon the skills u have playing through distortion don't change the skills u have unplugged.. much that is. there is still the tiny dead notes mistake that gets covered up. mind u. distorion , everyone uses it and u have to bear in mindm it's a effects too.
yngwie is good. i agree with it. thing is, i'm just about the same on plugged and unplugged, just the amplified sound. my unplugged playing skill sounds the same to plugged playing skill. just not plugged in thats all.....

hey Joe, i have a good question for u:
do you know what can i do if i have tendinitis?
i have been playin for a half and a year , and i stopped because f tendinitis.
it hurts, i wanna play but i can't my hand is not at its best.
it happened because i used to play minor scales at 6th string starting for example.. on 10 fret !!! ,(d minor scale)
is it correct to play in all strings?
my english is not good.
please help me.
