Well, I'm off to a concert tonight. I'm seeing Dredg for the fourth time in two months, which is crazy...but not as crazy as me somehow convincing a cute girl to go with me. What the...? ;-)

cosmic_ape - I don't know if you've ever been to the Universal Amphitheater before, but there's not a bad seat there. So you'll be just fine...
GoldenGirl2 - Cool...I'd love to hear Cryin' on the radio sometime. I don't hear much Satch on the radio, unfortunately. KLOS did play Lights Of Heaven a lot around Crystal Planet's release in 1998, which was very cool. Love that song...

I think my favorite Satch radio moment, though, is hearing 107.7 The Bone play Always... the morning of the LISF recording. It was really cool to hear that sandwiched between the two gigs I saw.

...Austin...

Zinc Master - I was watching G307 DVD last night it's a ripper.......

Do The Stu - what was the formula for losing the kg? Can you send it my way??????? (the method not the kg).

Wonder if the Foot will do the Sweden gig.

Roy - you a nice man, and of course kids can pick up stuff so much faster, I'm only up to about 4-5 badly strummed songs and the same for picking notes - and nobody likes Yankee Doodle Dandee anyway.

Hybes: Candlebox was excellent! even though they played 0 songs from Happy Pills. Kevin has his voice intact, and Peter Klett just wails any chance he gets, very bluesy playing. They closed with a 15 minute rendition of Rain that was just insane!! I will definitely see them any chance I get.

Zinc Master: If you haven't already, and you don't mind the noodling, look for Dream Theater's Live at Budokan. Excellent performances and a very high quality recording (the camera work and lighting are very good).

Guitarman77897: Happy birthday!

Michelle: If the spider doesn't pass thru your hands, it doesn't count...Another vote for the spider cover!! lol

Scubadaz: I can't pin down the exact moment when I started hating spiders, but my mom says that she once tried to rid me of a hiccups attack by screaming: "LOOK OUT A SPIDER!!!" after which I cried for 15 minutes!!! LMAO!!! So maybe that's the origin.

... checking in after not checking in for a while.... Chad's condition is looking brighter and we are looking forward to the last two festival shows of this tour... Thanks to all of you, Chickenfoot continues to rock the charts and radio waves. The shows have been fantastic, and crazy, and always fun, as you can see from the clips. We were filmed in Montreux and hope to release it at some point. ...Yes, I did switch back to playing Marshall Amps, nothing to do with business, just an artistic decision. A full explanation will follow when the time right... Right now, in Stockholm, it's raining and I've got two days off in this beautiful city... Joe

DO THE STU: definitely my favourite moment of the album!! I hear it over and over again and can't get tired of it. The whole song is great actually.

The early riffs you refer to are awesome as well. My band tried to play the song but it wasn't easy, specially for the drummer. It's a tricky signature (I hope this is the correct term). We couldn't pass those early riffs.

I haven't had the guts to start learning the solo yet, I'll probably feel too frustrated as it isn't an easy one... But I'll get there eventually :)

I remember when I thought I'd never be able to play AWMAWY and the great feeling it was to hear my self playing it (after a couple of years of course)

I think the reason why I was so impressed with it was that I wasn't expecting that kind of solo from Petrucci. Usually he is more of a shredder than anything else (at least that's the way I see him). That solo is extra-melodic but also fast at the same time. I'd say it's my favourite solo from him, but I don't know DT that well.

I know Octavarium pretty well and didn't feel that impressed. Maybe I have to listen to it more carefully.

My old covers band played a version of "The Root Of All Evil". You can check it at:

PlayLoudInsane

(the sound quality is not that good as this was recorded directly from the mixing table and my playing could have been much better. At the time - 2005 - I had just learned the song and things weren't fluid yet. Oh, and the upper E string is out-of-tune!)

I will also listen to the section you refer more carefully. My favourites are tracks 5 and 6 (Best of Times and Count of Tuscany - I think)

This is definitely my fav DT album. After a few days listening to CF cd, this cd went back to the car stereo and it still feels great :)

Sorry for the long post!

Abraço, VP

Hooray! Message from Joe!!!

I sure hope that he has heard that MJ tribute by Buckethead. I just cannot stop listening to it. That abrupt chord at the end, right out of nowhere, really represents accurately just how sudden and unexpected the end came for Michael. It falls like a guillotine... and then.. nothing. Genius.

(best comic-book guy voice) Most beautiful guitar song.. ever.

smooches,
» Phy³

elpp: I've always loved Candlebox and thought they were an underated band. Love the song "Rain" always love jamming to that song. Would like to see them come out with something new.

Joe: Thanks for the update hope you have a great time on your days off! Still listening to the FOOT non-stop. Got a show coming up with Nickelback, Hinder, Saving Able and Papa Roach, and usually I listen to the group(s) a couple weeks in advance of the show but I just can't bring myself to put anything else in the cd player.
