Cube _ The VM gets the Marshall dna. With pieces like Modefour or JVM, Marshall is like trying to go onto Mesa Boogie territory, and failing.. well.. just my feeling.

Chelle....if only....there should be a mandatory CF or Joe Satriani day every month in my office AND we should get to have an office kitteh for stress relief. sigh.....at least everyone here knew it was "Chickenfoot Day" yesterday and that I was rushing home to see the webcast last night :) And some of those people even get the name right, although...

this morning a co-worker asked me how the chicken-fingers show was......sigh again....

JemJVM my guess is you have played the reissue's cause my 72 metal plate sounds a world different .. the jvm was designed to compete with other high gain amps sounds very much like diode clipping and has the treble that can not be dialed out like most modern high gain amps .. Zenfish's comment was meant as to that .. not about 6l6 or 34 .. now as for your comment that 6l6 has better cleans .. well my slo has 6l6's as does my cornford .. the soldano cleans are crappy ..at best .. the cornford slightly better .. my jubilee has one of the best cleans i have heard .. thats also john frusciante's main clean and its el34 .. the clean and dirty is not based on the output but how the circut is designed so your statement is somewhat right but also wrong .. if you use fenders yeah 6l6 are great cleans on bassman , and twins .. but vox has great chimy cleans wi th el84's .dr z has some great amps with el34's that have sparking clean , and how about the divided by 13 stuff no 6l6 and awesome cleans . so for me the jvm is a modern amp with way too much going on and not enough good .. i am glad you like it and enjoy it . we will agree to disagree

Made it home in time to catch Chickenfingers again! WOOT!

One thing I gotta say -

Kenny has a lot of class bringing up Chad's name so many times and giving him props for everything. A lot of guys would be like "what other drummer, I'M the drummer now"

Very cool of him to do that.

Joe

Good question was asked of Mike & Sammy, but not you. What are YOU listening to in your Ipod these days? (besides CF)

Did someone ask where's Chad?

Two sides to every story

Cube - interesting info there. Where does the JSX fit in that review of amps you own/tested?

Im also wondering why Joe would use the Marshall if it's tone limited as such?

Any thoughts on Diezel too?

Cheers

Chelle,

Not a "chickenfoot sucks" person, but no way a blind follower either. Yeah, lyrics are an issue, but most R&R over the years has had stupid lyrics, which is why I like JS so much. He just "shuts up and plays his guitar" (Zappa).

Not excited about SH's "act" either. Too brash for my taste. I always liked Joe's seeming humility.

Their first album wasn't bad, lots of stupid lyrics, but musically pretty OK. Trouble was, after a few listens it was frankly quite boring. CF III didn't even make me want to listen to it again, with the exception of track 10, which is quite good, particularly Joe's parts.

Sorry, CF just doesn't have the staying power that Joe's solo work has. Maybe should have named it "2" (haha).

Fair enough Dave. I was just wondering if maybe there was one particular thing you disliked, but now I see there are many! lmao! Fair enough!

Check out this vid of Davy Knowles in '08. This kid is effin amazing! Check out the one handed run he does after the 4 min. mark! I love this guy!

HEY JOE!!!! I have a very important question about the JS100 and the JS1200. Now I have a very nice JS100 that I was lightly considering about installing a Sustainiac pickup to. But I went on some forum and found a guy who said that when he installed the Sustainiac in to his JS100, he needed to slightly enlarge the guitar cavity to make it a little bigger to fit everything. And you had a Sustaniac pickup in one of your JS1200 for the recording of Black Swans And Wormhole Wizards. So I was wondering......Did you have to get the guitar cavity customized for the extra equipment, or is JS1200 completely compatible with the pick up???

If anybody else knows please don't hesitate to answer.

I'd concur with a bit of that too, Sammy does my head in sometimes! and the lyrics... hmm

If J.S wasn't in it I wouldn't really be interested in it at all... Seems like Joe just has a few riffs and ideas that didn't make instrumental songs or the solo cd's sends em around and Sammy who writes some shizzle over it... Chad's awesome enough on the drums to fill in the beats and Mike keeps the low end straight enough!

Some bits have their moments but not the biggest fan of it... Come closer has an awesome solo though 8)

Hi Master Satriani ! I´m one of the biggest fan of yours, and I wanna know if you´re still giving lessons... How can I learn directly from you? I´m a great fan of your music style, but here in Brazil is very difficulty to find a great teacher. Do I must pay to have your lessons? What can I do to have this honor? Thanks for your attention and cheers for all your band. And keep doing the great job even better, always, as you are ;).

Hi peeps....I loved the show last night. Makes me want to go to San Francisco for the road test show, hmmn? It is cool to see Joe having so much fun , the new album rocks! It is too bad for you if you don't like it. Why do people come here to bitch about it?

BTW...RTF was awesome , Stanley Clarke is a monster on that stand up bass! Chick jammed with Dweezil and everyone else in the band cep the drummer. Zappa's band came out for the last song [School Days] and had a big jam session. The lighting was dim but I took a few good pics , will share when I get them uploaded.

Peace Lily...have you every had the yellow Hermiston watermelon...OMG , just had my first taste...mmmm

Blue Moon sums it up perfectly... if Joe was not a part of CF, I would have had zero interest. Regardless of Joe, after CF III, I'm out.
