Wow, multiple personalty person 3 posts above this...

SatanBoogie ooooh, sorry - name change. I mean I Hate Hippies, no wait WHOEVER you are tonight, we LOVE George Carlin quotes and have them here all the time. SHARIF hasn't done anything we haven't done many times before. If you can't handle the MILD bit of swearing on this site, sheesh man, what do you do in the real world. You swore in YOUR post! No disrespect, but why get your britches in a bunch over something that's done here all the time?

Joe: sorry I have not been here in a while. I have been working on finals at school. It seems that there is no such thing as a job for the disabled in this country. I suffer from the lack of (lesslys) 1. instantaniously 2. simutaniously 3. errorlessly 4. effortlessly 5. endlessly. It looks like a great christmas though. I'm alive, mostly healthy, and still looking for work. "Above The Numbers" has gotten some great response. Thank you T2Jers! Steven and I have sold about 100 cd's so far. I hope we can sell more on the cdbaby site, and at tower records.com Your G3 stuff is the best! Who could not make it a present this year. I hope that doing the G3 thing has been a positive for you so far. It would be Kuul to perform with all those shredders! When I find work this next year, I hope you can do another set of concerts that I can go to. I still want to get a photo of you with my guitar some time. God bless, and happy holidaze. Randell

Metal Head03 - You're welcome. :-)

SBM will not be rereleased to include The Eight Steps and Slick. The only way to get those two songs is to buy the anthology. It's well worth the money, as all songs on the album have been remastered. Everything sounds great.

JS JS - I'm the tall guy in the third row on the DVD.

This is my third year of college, and I'm 20 years old.

Sharif - I'd still have to vote for Bush. I'm surprised that you'd be willing to vote for Joe when you know next to nothing about his political ideas...even if you can't stand Bush. Then again, maybe that's just because I'm in a state where a bunch of people did the same thing when Arnold was elected.

Whoa...Do a search on the internet for Crossroads pictures and you find out all sorts of crazy stuff-Eric Johnson used to play guitars with Floyd roses on them, some of Vai's parts were sped up in Crossroads(which I had guessed actually, although that may or may not be true),Ry Cooder and Arlen Roth were not happy about the way the movie ended, or having Vai in it, and the biggest shock.........

Hmmm, let's see...my 5 favorites. That's a tough one.

1. Allan Holdsworth 2. Joe 3. Steve Vai 4. Steve Hackett 5. Jeff Beck

There's so many more than 5 though. I can't forget Richie Blackmore, Derek Trucks, Duane Allman, Steve Lukather and so on.

jellyman: You should hear Eric Johnson's Alien Love Secrets. Great live improvisation there.

I got the SBM book the other day. Now Starry Night and The Traveler are on my Learn Next list.

JS JS: There's a link on Yngwie's website to some G3 tour pics. There's a lot of pics on there of Steve and the triple neck.

I sure hope the triple neck stuff is on the G3 DVD. I like the new Vai Live at the Astoria DVD but sure wish he did the triple on there.

Do The Stu: You're 20? I would not have thought it. Your postings show a maturity way beyond your years. That's a complement by the way. Take it from a 50 year old. lol

js js No one gets into both Yale and Harvard by being stupid. If people would stop listening to each other, after having listened to democrat party propoganda they published becasue they were pissed off at losing so narrowly, and started listening to Bush's speeches, they wouldn't hold that opinion of him.

greg m - my term's not over for another week, sadly. got two bach chorale harmony exercise pieces of coursework for monday and a couple of exams next week. but it's been pretty good, yeah. i like being here... though i'm looking forward to going home!

Nick - the consecutive octaves / 5th's I explained a few posts ago if you want to check out my ramblings..

song writing... like anything else it's practice.. the more of it you do the better you get... your writing style is a direct reflection to two key components..

1- what music you listen to...

2- how much you know about music...

listen to a wide variety of music.. and soak up all the lovely knowledge... write.. experiment.. do lots of it...

there's no real method.. different people approach writing in many different ways... tell me how you go about writing music.. your thought processes.. how you get inspired.. how you write.. then maybe I can throw in a few things from there on..

jelly man - post modernism and serialism were not my strong points when I was studying all that stuff... I was really into to the Baroque through to high romantic stuff.. my strong points were counterpoint, form and all that stuff... I loved looking through a baroque fugue or suite and pulling it appart, finding out all the nuts and bolts in a classical sonata and stuff like that... tried writing stuff too.. an Italian style concerto, a French suite and a fugue for 4 voices.. staying within the rules, observing form and making it sound musical and not like a maths exercise is really tough.. made me realise how clever all the great composers are... now pretty much anything goes so it's far easier to be expressive as there are no bounderies...

all this talk makes me realise what a huge amount of information I've forgoten... kinda 'use it or lose it'...
