It's funny how the Yngwie debate pops up from time to time. All I have to say is that it would be nice if he hadn't cancelled his gig in HK.
Oooh, I love Paul Gilbert! Well, I mean the sounds he makes on his guitar !
I take physics too! Relativity is really quite something!
Ahh... for those of you who are freaked out by the Sars. Here's what I gotta say. The reason why everyone is so freaked out is because of how the government dealt with the situation. They have been slow for both informing the public and acting upon the situation. by the time the word goes out, everyone is freaked out. But let me tell you. 99.9% of the whole population of HK has NOT been infected. so why the hell is everyone so scared? The only thing you have to worry about is your own health. By that, I mean cleaning yourself and your house and can it be any simpler? it's just basic hygene. If that's done, then there's nothing to be scared about. There are more cases of death by other diseases than Sars, so why are people not freaked out about it? Think what the news and stuff are feeding your minds. "Wake up to reality" as Ella Fitzgerald sings.

ToneZone: Thanks...I've never taken theory despite being surrounded by music ppl...

It's pretty ok here at Arts, but the system just sucks. Can you believe they actually did away with our mid-term break without consulting the student body at all? It was annoying to say the least.

You're in which year?

Narface: My sentiments exactly. It's a bit of a shame that it took the mainland this long to admit the WHO ppl, but then, the damage is already done.

The difficulty is in the ocntrolling of the movements of those already affected. There have been ppl here who infected others even though they should have known they had SARS by not following government directives. That's partly been causing the hysteria. But otherwise, the things not even airborne! *sigh*

Joe, thanks for being there...Keep on making great music. Could it be rock, heavy, electronic, jazz, blues, neo-classical or whatever you 're in mood to create, keep on making it 'cause in the end, it's just music, and that's the real thing man...Like a bunch of humans and animals out there, I simply enjoy the "soul childs of your creativity"....just in phase with soul, not universal but certainly an interesting and endless world to travel in. Love you guy...You're one of the too few sincere persons living on the "mother earth". You're not the one (I mean a "best musician chart" make no sense)but we all thank you for just being Joe...

I'm NOT an english language expert but I hope you just understood what I did like to say. "Read you soon"...

BigGun.

Trutina---Punches as fast as he plays! That would be something to fear. But remember, he's got a real light touch, so there wouldn't be much behind them lol

LOL!Almost choked on my coffee, Tru!

So, Trutina, you are in IN, eh. I'm in Ft Wayne. Laters,

Yngwie plays the same 7 note picking patterns over and over fast. Yngwie plays the same sweep arpeggios over and over. He thinks he's the greatest guitarist in the world. He criticizes other guitar players of their guitar playing because they don't do it how it should be done according to Yngwie. Example: The Might Turtle Head is "out of tune". Micheal Romeo copied Yngwie's style and doesn't credit him for it. He says Vai is better than Satriani.

Even most teen guitarists learn there is no "best" or "better" guitarist in the world.

Yngwie's not even good. He can pick and sweep like a machine but can you tell a machine to write you a beautifully moving piece of music? Or can you tell it to perform a certain amount of tasks per second?

Bottom line - Yngwie Malmsteen sucks. Maybe in the early 80's when shred started to come to life it would have been acceptable but one album is enough, really.

ummmm... force breast feed... a wolverine?
alright, I can see, force breast feeding SOME things, but a wolverine is just not on that list...
that's like the guy who killed his dad because he cut off their donkey's penis so he could reattach it to himself... okay, so it isn't really... but that's pretty damn hilarious, in a nasty, malicious, moo cluck baa kinda way.

js clone 1Yngwie's not even good .wow dude thats kinda harsh, but i guess since you have influenced millions of people to take up guitar you can can say that!!!Yngwie is good if ya like him or not he is good, there would be no paul gilbert with out malmsteen, (well a different sounding PG anyway)..
Matt King i barely ever listen to malmsteen, but he is better than me and sold more albums than me so , i can respect that, any how take it easy,:)

hmm...it seems idiocy will never die...wonder if anyone has heard of the Darwin Awards....now that is idiocy at its very best

keihan: Good to see another Hoosier in here, although I just barely qualify. I live about 2 minutes outside of Louisville KY.

Revised quotes of the day, or I guess really, it's a new day somewhere every hour so, quotes of the day for whomever just entered tomorrow:

"The greatest truths are the simplist: so are the greatest men." Anon

"Opinion, the blind goddess of fools, foe to the virtuous, and only friend to underserving persons." Chapman

"There's nothing good or bad, but thinking makes it so." Shakespeare

More news: The Centers for Disease Control has determined that the common cold is caused by a tall man who carries around a big bag of germs.....The Mafia has killed an information clerk because he knew too much. His replacement, appointed today, says he has no further information.....The owner of a Florida massage parlor has been arrested by police. "There weren't any serious violations," said the officers, "she just rubbed us the wrong way."

OK, enough Carlin plagiarism, I'm off to mow my yard. Hello sinus congestion!

The Darwin awards are great! Did you read the one where a ranger came upon a scene where lots of people were queueing up to see a bear which had wandered onto the road, and he saw one woman smearing something gooey onto her baby son's face. "What's that?" He asked "It's honey, of course." "Why are you smearing honey on your baby?" "So I can film the bear licking it off his face!"

That could have been one nasty ending if he didn't stop her in time.

*LOL* No, I didn't read that one! When did that one happen? I read the one about the lawyer who showed off the strength of his firm's windows by running into them.... When interviewed following his 34-storey plunge, the firm said "He was one of the brightest stars of this firm."

Dammit, I was going to go and cut the shredz for "Missing You" (my T2J CD tune), but my mates computer bummed out on him. Hopefully tomorrow or Tuesday...

Gig was a nightmare. Too much vox in the monitors and not enough of anything else, and we tried playing three new songs which we didn't really know well enough. Nevermind - it wasn't a particularly significant gig. You win some you lose some. Such is life...

Joe... what was the name of the guy who opened for you recently at the Filmore in SF? He played the guitar with the glass fret board... I can't remember his name, but I liked his music quite a bit.
