Dear Joe,

I attended the G3 2004 tour on the 26th June in Birmingham, and it was the first time I saw you. For the last three years now your music has meant more to me than any other artist, group or musician in history, so to see you live was possibly the defining moment of my life so far. If you read this, which is undoubtful as I'm sure you're busier than your average Joe (no pun intended), please also pass on my regards to Messr Vai, who was, as I expected, mind blowing. But you, Joe, you topped the night off. You played a few of my all time favourites, which was something special, and you were just generally a charming, inspirational individual. In case you remember seeing me, I was the guy wearing the 80's denim outfit and blue bandanna :-P

Please come to England again soon! I have my heart set on seeing you in one of your 'Evening With' shows (premium tickets of course!), but if it is G3 again, see if you can pursuade Yngwie to make it next time!

JAYCEE - How cool is that to have both those guitars!! Do you have any others in your collection?

Austin - Even though I do really like VR they still aren't as amzing as GnR were IMO. I wonder what Izzy is doing these day, is he alive? I do like Scott's voice but sometimes I can just imagine Axl singing em and I think he could be better!

Anyone heard anything about John Deacon (Bassist from Queen) at all in the last 10 - 15 years or has he completely vanished off the face of the planet? It would be interesting to know what he is doing nowadays.

Hope everyone is cool

TASTEY, just looking for a 'news' voice really - it's got to be clear enough to be easily understood. Do you have a regional accent? Also, time wise, that's cool cause each 'newscast' (there's 3 of em) in the track lasts about 10 seconds.

update: I just read your mail(s). It would be so helpful if you could do this for us! I shall talk to my friend/colleague (alex) today and i'll mail you the script for each of the 3 newscasts if he agrees it's a good idea! Many thanks in advance! hehe

Austin, yeah I'll let you know when it's done. Be warned, it's political! It's gonna be pretty cool tho. There's no guitars in this one, but I put in a cracking organ melody! hehehe
Leanna, no probs, thanks anyway
marimariSRV, hehe not a problem at all. I will keep that in mind tho, if we really need to then I'll find out how to record a phone call! Thanks.

By the way, no not Pink Floyd, it's all original. It's very modern, kinda quirky, but making a strong point!

OCPS470, thanks for mailing the SRH file dude, I'll check it out later on. I'm probably not going to too hot at spotting the 'hendrix rip off licks' cause I don't know his music too well! Do I get double-extra points if I spot them?! hehe. laters!

joeman Good luck tomorrow!

mowlie Good luck in Germany!

michelle I have two Disney favorites, Robin Hood and Fantasia. Or both of Fantasia actually, so it's three favorites. ;) I have listened to Dave's cd once and I like it, but I'll have to listen to it a few times more to really get an opinion. I really like Tourmaline though, I'm a sucker for acoustic. :)

SOTD - None, really. I'm going for silence today. :)

Really interesting Joe's comments in the listening party. To hear the songs knowing Joe's inspiration sources makes them still more enjoyable.

I like the Ole Yellow movie and the second one about one of Ole Yellow’s puppies. Can't remember the name of that one though. The saddest dog movie is in my opinion is “Where the Red Fern Grows”. I don’t believe this one was a Disney movie??

OLLY.

I don't have what I'd call a collection but I do have a few other guitars that are shared with my Son but no other Ibanez, luckily all the family shares a love of guitars and guitar music(especially Satch) so we don't have any conflict of interests. I have a Les Paul Standard, a USA Strat and various acoustics (21,6 and resenators) In addition to those I build guitars as a hobby so I have a number of customs of my own (toooo many guitars) but there you go, you've got to do something on dark winter nights.

John.

HI JOE,

please READ...

According to a UN report broadcast by NPR radio in 1993, about a dozen cities in the United States of America, otherwise known as the Great Satan abroad, qualify as Third World status based on per capita income alone. These urban areas I recall included Miami, Detroit, Oakland, Philidelphia, Wash. D.C., among a couple of other cities in Ohio.

We know every republican admin in the 20th century resulted in either the Great Depression or one or two recessions. It is no accident that this 100 years of consistancy persists. Yes, I'm speaking to a touchy issue and people don't want to hear it and this is not the appropirate forum, yada yada. Well, tough titty...

To wit, as reported by Reuters today, we find confirmation the trend continues; I suspect it has has grown worse:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The income gap between rich and poor in Washington, D.C., is significantly wider than nearly every other large city in the United States, according to a report to be released on Thursday. The study from the D.C. Fiscal Policy Institute, a research group focused on issues impacting low- and middle-income people, said economic development activity in the capital benefited the top fifth of the city's population in the 1990s.

The average income for the richest 20 percent of Washington, D.C. households grew by 35.7 percent during the last decade, while the average income for the bottom 20 percent rose 3.3 percent, the report said.

That has left the average income for the city's richest residents almost 31 times higher than that of the poorest, or $186,830 compared with $6,126, according to the D.C. Fiscal Policy Institute.

Atlanta and Miami have similar gaps, but in most other cities, the difference between high income and low income is less pronounced, with income for the top 20 percent of the population 18 times that of the bottom 20 percent, the report said.

"Stark poverty alongside stunning wealth in the District of Columbia is a serious cause for concern," said Angie Rodgers, a policy analyst at the D.C. Fiscal Policy Institute. "The wave of economic progress is bypassing many D.C. residents."

The group said city officials should not focus on economic development initiatives alone if they aim to raise the financial standing of poor residents. Instead, the group argued the city needs to raise its minimum wage, expand child care for low-wage workers and increase welfare for people preparing to enter the work force.

Greets and Waves ~ ~ ~

I've been enjoying all the G3 reviews from Europe ~ thanks to all our international fans for posting their reactions! :-)

~ 962 Simon ~ I’m totally mic-less, both at home and work, otherwise I’d love to help you out :-)
the project sounds interesting, I hope you’ll post a link when it’s finished~!

~ Austin ~

I sent you an email about the mp3 of SBM's listening party ~ basically I'll never be able to receive an mp3 email attachment: too large! ~ re Gary Hoey, as I recall, he only mentioned the three names, so I assumed G3 ~ I know he opened for Joe on The Extremist Tour ~ possibly he was referring to that and he's jammed with the other G's separately, or it could have been G3 ~ no way to know without asking him or Joe or Steve :-)

JMDS and LucySorets ~ you're welcome :-)

~ dragonchild ~ loved the migraine quote! Are you getting relief from the new medications available these days?

~ alexandre ~ I’ve been to a medievil faire long ago when I lived in Southern California ~ these are wonderful~! good to hear you’re working lots during the summer season ~ hope it’s not too hot for you ~ enjoy your day :-)

~ Delfino ~ “… or have the lyrics fallen off? LoL~! Thanks for sharing that :-)

~ S4TCH BOOGIE ~ ‘ what is this about no guitar in yonks??? gotta play every day! ~ is your "trick bike" like the one's they use in the Gravity Games and X-Games? ~ I love those sports ~ inline, skatebord, bikes, motorbikes ~ Mtn Dew SoBe and Vans ~ big air ~ so have you told your parents, "at least T2J isn't pornography or bomb-building"...? ~ we do have some blue prose on occassion ~ the internet is chock full of idiots with no manners ~ how else to learn how to behave than watching others make fools of themselves? ~ hope you can continue to check in now and then ~ keep the faith~!

Everyone have a great day (unless of course you’ve made other plans) LoL

…peace…

~ Hi Zenfish ~

thanks for the prog SBM list ~ if I understand you, these songs you call prog mostly because of the non-traditional riffs and embellishments? And what do you mean by this word, “fioritures”?

a poem for you:

End of April
By Phillis Levin

Under a cherry tree
I found a robin’s egg,
broken, but not shattered.

I had been thinking of you,
and was kneeling in the grass
among fallen blossoms

when I saw it: a blue scrap,
a delicate toy, as light
as confetti

It didn’t seem real,
but nature will do such things
from time to time.

I looked inside:
it was glistening, hollow,
a perfect shell

except for the missing crown,
which made it possible
to look inside.

What had been there
is gone now
and lives in my heart

where, periodically,
it opens up its wings,
tearing me apart.

The Prez You were right about Yngwie. Its a song on his Alchemey album.
Cuthbert1776. I know the insperation and author of the book that the song you posted are from, but who is the artist? Man I am wracking my brains I know it is something I have heard and am going to feel like an idiot when i find out who it is.

Also, Although personally I loathe Mr. King (can you blame me? He stole my life story and made millions) I was wondering if you were aware that your name is a character in one of his novels as well. With the 1776 after it though I asume it has some sort of historical reference that I should be aware of but am to ignorant to know but not to proud to admit.

Michelle My favorite Disney flick is Old Yellow I am a sucker for a happy ending.
And on the subject of Disney he is one cruel S.O.B. Try to explain to your kid what happened to Bambi's mom someday and youll understand what I mean.
